Nintendo wouldn't make a brutal game like SMB. I get that Luigi is more challenging and that's great, but I don't think it fits into the same category.locopatho

I never claimed it was just as difficult, I said the approach to designing the levels is similar in that you've got hazard after hazard in short bursts.

Luigi U lacks the exploration element the other 2D Mario games have. It's pure high tempo obstacle course, not take it easy grabbin some coins on the way, finding 1ups, exploring a level for secret paths...

Yeah sounds like the NES Mario games/New Super Mario Bros Wii Star Coins. I actually found Sunshine pretty hard at points too. Good news. The "core" fans get more of a challenge.

I'm listening to the people who have played the game. I'm just asking for info, no need to be so hostile, get off Nintendo's dick, it must be pretty sore at this stage.locopatho

I'm the bad guy for pointing out the fact that your statement is false.

You're the one who gets salty when people say "Nintendo does DLC right"

I only asked if it's a complete new campaign, or remixed levels. It's clearly remixed levels. Nothing wrong with that, I'm only trying to understand what this game is. It suits the fanboys to try position this as a whole new game. I don't care bout that, I just want the truth. Prove it asshole. I've never experienced any Nintendo DLC, but from all I've heard it's great. Bravo, 10/10, go Nintendo, doing DLC right.

I bought it and am quite impressed. The 80 new levels are incredibly difficult and Luigi plays completely differently than Mario. It's actually DLC that manages to almost double the value of the game

Asshole

Your definitions are weird. "Remixed" implies it's literally the same level but with alterations.

That's absolutely not the case here. It's the same assets, the same lego pieces if you will, as the original levels, but re-assembled in a completely different way.

For example you can take apart a Lego cat and make a dog out of the same pieces. Is a dog and a cat the same thing ?

A Mario game isn't lego. If you take the a level, switch around it's platforms/enemies, it's a remix. Not a new level. It's like Left 4 Dead. You get different enemies/weapons/experiences each time, but it's the same level. Again, to calm your dick loving, I'm not attacking Nintendo. Just want to know what the dam thing is!

Review snippets from Metacritic:

"Nintendo shows that they also can create good additional content. 82 completely new levels with a slightly improved difficulty and a smarter design. Highly recommended for skilled gamers and people that needed more platformer fun in their Wii U consoles."

"New Super Luigi U makes for a package that feels more like a full expansion pack than just another piece of DLC."

"New Super Luigi U is a great DLC for fans of the classic Mario games. More than 80 new levels with frantic, deep and complex design"

"If you loved New Super Mario Bros. U., getting Luigi U is a no-brainer, as it features a collection of superior levels and an interesting re-work of Luigi as a character."

--

I'm sure there are more reviews to come, the big sites haven't reviewed it yet, maybe because there were no review copies. The game launched just recently.

Video games are like Lego.

Have you used a level editor in racing games? You are using blocks, and put them together piece by piece.

Again, same assets, 100% new racing track mechanically.

Lol @ the L4D comment. No that's not it.

In L4D you're playing the same maps over and over, but the experience is different due to variables put in place.

In Luigi U's case, 100% new maps.

I can't believe sheep love being milked this hard, it's such an easy business.

Make slight changes to your game, sell, make $$$$. Works for Nintendo.

This is an expansion pack for New Super Mario Bros. U it isn't the same as purchasing a new game. Also it isn't milking if the games are still great and NSLU is a lot better the New Super Mario Bros. U based on what many have said.

Still, for the content that's being shown it should be much cheaper.

The games may be good, but they just look the same year after year.

Super Mario Galaxy was excellent though, I just find that Nintendo relies way too much on their past franchises.

Up next wil be New Super Peach U with the added ability to glide in the air longer to get a glimpse of her panties. Now THAT will just KO all sheep out there and give them a freaking heart attack. All for the easy price of $20 of course ;-)

If I had a Wii U I'd probably buy it.

But these side scrolling Mario games aren't justifying me buying one enough, at all.

If I had more money or if the DLC were cheaper then I would consider. As it is now I don't really feel like getting the DLC. Doesn't really help its associated with NSMB either.

I'm sorry if I have been spoiled by Valve's free DLC's, Bethesda's Shivering Isles DLC, or any of the Borderlands DLC. I guess I've come to expect too much from $20 DLC.

I hope Nintendo one day makes an actual "New" 2D Mario game instead of more New Super Mario Bros games in the future. They all look the same, I mean the sequel like the Wii one was ok but the 3DS and Wii U are just the same thing over and over again. And to be honest this New Luigi game looks like a hack of the game. In fact I have seen hacks such as the one for the original Wii called Newer Super Mario Bros which had more effort put into it then this dlc does.

I got it. It's actually quite good. Much better than the standard NSMBU game. More challenging more fun better level design.

Is it 82 new levels? from the OP it seemed like they took existing levels and just redesigned them.

If it really is 82 new levels, then yeah that's impressive.

I've been looking for a reason to get the Wii U myself, so it's not like I want this to be bad DLC because I'll probably end up buying it myself some time down the line.
