New Super Mario Bros Wii WILL Outsell Modern Warfare 2!!!

Well, all the self proclaimed hardcore gamers sneered at Reggie when he boldly claimed that New Super Mario Bros will outsell Modern Warfare 2, the game that many are predicting will go on to become thelargest selling non bundled game of all time.

It appears, however, that they had not reckoned on the power of the Mario brand, the wild appeal of the Wii, and the general quality and unforgettable experiences that Nintendo games inevitably are.

While the game sold a(n) (excessivley) healthy 550,000 units in its first day on the market (though that is nowhere near Modern Warfare 2 numbers, one has to remember that Modern Warfare 2 is shipping for three platforms, NSMB is shipping out only for one), there are now reports that New Super Mario Bros Wii is outselling Modern Warfare 2 on online retailer Amazon as well- worldwide.

Well, then, people? What do you think? Does New Super Mario Bros Wii have it in itself to outsell Modern Warfare 2? If yes, then how long do you think it will take? And do you think it will outsell only one version of the game, or all three versions combined?

Do you think that the lifetime sales of New Super Mario Bros Wii will be more than those of Modern Warfare 2?

For my part, I'd say yes, especially considering that all first party Wii games sell into the tens of millions, and that the first New Super Mario Bros title (on the DS) sold 20 million.

NSMB Wii also has a lot longer shelf life seeing as how a new COD game will already be out by next November.

The only way it passes MW2 is if its a pack in game at some point.

Doubt it. First of all, CoD is multiplat and hugely successful, where Mario is only on Wii. Not every Nintendo fan will buy the new Mario game, where tons of people are buying the new call of duty game. The next best thing that has the hopes of beating Modern Warfare 2 sales is a new Wii Zelda game.get-ka12

anyway we have to take into account that mw 2 will probably come out on the wii seeing how activision just ported over cod 4...

that version will probably do something like 1 million + world wide as well.. but i still dont think mw2 will outsell nsmbw

If Mario Galaxy cant compete with Halo 3, or even Gears for that matter, a side scroller wont either! But then again, Wii owners are desperate for even a low AA title, so who knows

It's pretty easy to say your game sold the best when you disqualify everything that outsold it on the basis of "Well...I don't like THAT game!". From this day forward my favorite game, Jet Grind Radio, is the best selling game of all time by virtue of the fact every game that has sold more than it does not count!

Oh and you can come back when a COD game has sold 18 million (Mario Kart. Not an "exercise device") lifetime.

I'm surprised I missed this. According to Wikipedia Gears has sold 5 million (may include PC version). SMG has sold 8.02 million. Halo 3 sold 8.01 million. To be fair these arn't entirely up to date (their dated like july), so Halo 3 may be ahead now. I doubt Gears 1 has sold several million more in a few months what with it being an older game.

It will. Mario Kart was released in the beginning of 2008. MW2 was released a week ago and has already sold 10 million. After one week on the market, Mario Kart maybe sold 1 million? Congratulations.
