New The Last of Us Info GI Scans

I am so hyped for this game, you have no idea! The devs are also trying to create an emotional and engaging storyline, which most games do not even try to do. The industry is lacking in that department, but Naughty Dog can do it. I've been a fan of them since the PS1 days and theyhave never let me down, they are easliy the most talented dev this gen.

I'm looking forward to The Last of Us, in Naughty Dog's hands I have no doubt it will succeed.

When i heard the game was inspired off of the show The Walking Dead I figured thats what they were going for.

i for one, understand where your coming from. Open world games like Skyrim are essentially the CORE of what makes a video game, a videogame. it puts the player AS their own (like Skyrim, or any elder scrolls game) and let them loose in an open world solely created for their own amusement.

But games like Uncharted are progressive in gaming in terms of how gaming can transcend into a different form of entertainment. I for one find U3 as the worst offender of Cinema-like gameplay in the Uncharted series. At times i found playing U3 to only show my peers the story and simply playing so they can awe and gasp at the cutscenes.

But U2 was a MUCH different, it was a game that truly sucked me in like Skyrim only wiith a more cinematic feeling.

Point being, cinema-like games are its on genre and it certainly only attracts a certain type of gamer that truly wants to experience a next gen game. Not saying that open world games aren't next gen, its just tha cinema-like games simply fire up all cyllinders that it drives to be an experience one might feel as if they were watching a movie like Avatar that is controlled by you, the controller, instead of games like Skyrim that allows you to shape your own story.

Again, it goes back to whole "i want to play a game, not a movie" arguement. But like i said a bit back, they are simply two different genres with different cores pertaining to what a video game is. One is the old, the other is the new. Both can do great, and also poorly done. But both can also progress together and create differen experiences in gaming.

how are they not one of the best developers around? last time i checked, they've made considerable amount of sales through their games.

In terms of business, they're doing excellent and is STILL holding onto a great in-house infrastructure that is stable. That itself solidifies them as one of the best developers in the business.

You could argue that sales =/= best developers, but then you'd be reverting to the "but they haven't made any great games" argument that is purely made out of opinion instead of actual fact. One could say they haven't, of course. But one doesn't speak for the millions of other gamers.

You could argue that they haven't created amazing games like Valve has, but you're talking about two VERY different gaming companies who create VERY different games on VERY different genres.

But when you look at how the technical difficulties of NAUGHTY DOG achieving almost real life animations, better than most games these days, and being able to apply it into real-time gameplay like Uncharted, a game with many different types of typography and environments, you can say that they ARE VERY GREAT DEVELOPERS, if not one of the best.

Not to mention the in house voice acting, superbly well done in the modern gaming era.

And also the graphics when you come to terms with what they can visually achieve on a old console hardware when compared to PC gaming, is worthy of an applause.

But "heavy is the head that wears the crown" and for someone like you to simply laugh at such an idea that NAUGHTY DOG could actually be one of the BEST developers in modern day videogame industry, an industry that has yet to reach a title that is considered "mature" in terms of a business industry, you damn well wrong to do so.

and no to mention all the hardwork it takes to create a techical marvel like Uncharted in todays economy with the amount of money it takes to make a game these days.

The setting and apocalyptic scenario are reminding me quite a bit of Enslaved: Odyssee to the West, which I am currently playing through and liking very much. I'm happy I bought a PS3. If I had kept my 360 I'd be playing Gears 3 and waiting on Halo 4 and thats it. Instead I have all of these great exclusives already out plus the new ones coming out.
