An amazing achievement! It looks like an actual animated movie! See the new trailer!

First? Haven't we seen some 2D games this gen?IronBassYes. TC has definitely had his eyes closed or something.
I'm a big fan of A Boy And His Blob (NES). I loved it and was thinking about it lately (not even knowing someone was working on another one). That being said, it doesn't exactly seem that impressive from what I could see. As I recal, the old game had tons of different kinds of jelly beans. Apparently the new one only has about 15 jelly bean flavors? I'm also not so sure there's that much imagination to the thing. Looks like it's a case of design by comitee that's given rise to something that's almost an insult towards the old game. Maybe I'm wrong. Certainly I haven't seen that much of it but based on what I've seen, this is my honest opinion of this game.
This game looks freaking stellar. The art is wonderful and the animations are lovely. I will have this game next month!
Definitely looking forward to this game. This and Muramasa will fulfill my 2D needs for quite some time.
Though it's a shame that SW will probably dub the game "too kiddy" and ignore it, all the while complaining about the Wii library and how it doesn't receive "good" games.
Already happened in the last A Boy and His Blob thread.Definitely looking forward to this game. This and Muramasa will fulfill my 2D needs for quite some time.

THIS IS SPAR.... Errr... I mean CURRENT GEN!
Why do people insist on calling it next-gen?
and it isn't even close to being the 1st 2D game this gen.... this TOPIC = FAIL!

First next-gen 2D game. ;) Games like Braid, Wario Land, etc. are current-gen.
Anywho, yes, that was a grave error on Willy's fault. He was supposed to create a thread on Muramasa, the real first next-gen 2D game. 8)
/shameless promotion and false advertising
Looks pretty neat and Braid-like graphics. Now all I need is more fast paced sidescrollers and I'm set.

I knew there was a new one coming out but I was in love with the old NES a boy and his blob as well, and I'm hoping this game is very nostalgic! definitely up there for games I want REALLY bad on the Wii. This, muramasa, and tower of shadow are all going to be REALLY awesome 2d games.
Ah true true. But when his title is "..the FIRST next-gen 2D game" And you just say the name of a different game, it pretty much assumes that the game you're talking about was the first.First of all you're using the same misnomer as the TC. This is the current-gen.
Second, I didn't say Braid game first, it just came before BAHB.
Vaasman
I hope this isn't being sold at full price.
W1NGMAN-
It isn't, but it's worth full price judging by the new trailer.
Looks amazing.
If people hate on this game just because it looks kiddy then they need to start getting away from the PS360.

Not my cup of tea. If I want a 2d game, I'll go play one of the all-time greats I downloaded from the Virtual Console.
treedoor
Donkey Kong Country?
Donkey Kong Country 2 preferably, but I have the original also:P But those are more personal greats than all-time.. I was referring more to the games like Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros 3, and Link to the Past.

DKC > Super Mario World, AND Super Mario Bros 3.
Know why?
The music.
Oh w/e :P I'm a sucker for games with amazing music.

Oh I agree, the DKC series is right there with Morrowind for my favorite soundtracks ever:D
- You cannot have "next-gen," this is "current gen."
- You cannot have a "next-gen" 2D game. The genre was established long, long ago, there really isn't anything that can "revolutionize" the perspective.
- There have been several other 2D games to come out this gen.
- I highly doubt anything will top Odin Sphere this gen.

I think muramasa is going to top odin sphere :P
Yes it does then again I'm a huge Vanilla Ware fanMuramasa looks a lot more impressive tbh.
