The Witcher 2 is easily the best looking RPG ever created and simply one of the best looking games in general. What do you guys think?

[QUOTE="NaveedLife"]I still need to replay it before witcher 2 releases :(Not watching it, BUT seeing Witcher 2 makes me feel I need to complete the first :P.

REplay? lol, I like it (not that far), but the battle systems seems awful so far. The new one looks much better.

I went into a cave in the first area (spirit dogs attack the woman) and then was TRYING to fight the tentacle things and it seems like it is physically impossible to dodge their attacks. Maybe I just dont get it IDK. Also is there any point in being a pimp and cheating on Tris?
The Witcher 2 is looking great. I just started The Witcher last weekend and finished it on Wednesday. Was a pretty good game overall minus a few shortcomings which The Witcher 2 seem to fix and expand on what made it great.
Great art style with this game and next-gen looking graphics compared to most RPGs out.
[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]I'm liking the art-style and how the world feels alive and breathing. Don't know about best looking games in general though.110millionHe said best looking RPG, which isn't too big a stretch. A lot of the other PC RPGs as of late don't commonly have a big enough budget/team size to go all out like CD Projeckt. Unrelated, but I gave Divinity 2 another chance, I found out the reason I didn't like it before was because of the FPS lock, I just got updates and suddenly it was playable, and quite awesome.
You could have went into the files and increased the FPS limit.:P
Playing Divinty 2 at 60+FPS was awesome

The combat isn't dynamic, Its like Dragon Age. The dodge maneuver is for getting around enemy's, not for dodging attacks.

About the world being alive and breathing, I think this new video exposes it pretty well:

You don't think it is one of the better looking games out there? Which games would you consider as the top 10 games with best graphics?

Ya, but apparantly the file that lets you do that is part of some hotfix anyways. I did set it to 60 FPS, and vsync'd, runs smooooth.Well, it's good that it's pretty, because if the quality of its content is similar to that of the first game then it needs all the help it can get.
Well its funny that people feel the need to bash something they haven't even been following, but they have changed a lot. The Witcher was their first game, and they made the sequel based off a lot of fan input and a lot of improvements. I didn't really have a problem with anything in the original though.Well, it's good that it's pretty, because if the quality of its content is similar to that of the first game then it needs all the help it can get.

Alot of people thought the combat system was terrible..i personally had no issue with it.
What's happening now with Witcher 2 is that people who hated the first game for whatever reason are quickly assuming the follow up title will be more of the same. So yeah..people should really do some research on what they are trying to bash.

You're right, I haven't been following it much; my dislike for the first one sort of led into that, I guess.
My problem with The Witcher was that it had zero respect for my time. Slow to start, then slow to gather momentum, packed with fetch quests and busy-work, etc. It expected me to give it hours and hours, and gave very little in return; hell, I'd argue that most of its content was pointless filler.
There are many other criticisms I could level at it, but that's the main one. And yes, I agree, it's pretty impressive for a first game, especially in terms of presentation, user interface, etc, but that does mean a whole hell of a lot to me when I'm considering whether or not it was a waste of time; you'll find no indie white-knight sympathies here, señor.

Yeah, I never thought the combat was bad while playing it. I mean I could see where complaints were coming from, but so many games focus on aimless mashing of attack button, including plenty of PC RPGs lately, that a bit of timing helped give it some more depth.Gorgeous looking environments!
Shame I don't have a good enough PC to run this nicely and even if I had I'd still need to play the first one which isn't tempting me all that much.

An RPG that takes time? No...wai?!I liked the first game and can't wait for this. I didn't really find the combat system all that bad. My only real complaint about The Witcher was some areas were buggy and my frame rate would drop to s crawl from time to time like in the swamp. I just reinstalled The Witcher and am updating it to the enhanced edition now. Figured I should replay it before picking up 2.

I don't mind an RPG that takes up a lot of time so long as that time isn't wasted.
If you're suggesting that mountains of filler and pointless fetch quests are inherent to the genre then maybe you need to play some better role playing games.
The environments in the wilderness parts are absolutely incredible. The towns and dungeons though don't look quite as hot....kinda par for the course on that front.
I'm trying to power through it in time for TW2 which I have pre-ordered. I love the game, but it'd be easier to play through if it didn't crash every hour... luckily it autosaves a lot so it usually just costs me a minute. The Witcher 2 looks unbelievably beautiful, can't wait. Not watching it, BUT seeing Witcher 2 makes me feel I need to complete the first :P.

I'm counting down the hours and minutes. The Witcher was, despite a few issues, a superb game. It seems that they have improved The Witcher 2 in almost all areas, from graphics and storytelling to voice acting and combat.

You have to use magic on them. Use Aard to stun them, then you can chop em up pretty easily from what I remember. The game is not a casual hack and slash game, especially if you play it on normal or higher. You actually have to use tactics in fights. The towns and dungeons look amazing. What game has better towns and dungeons? The environments in the wilderness parts are absolutely incredible. That fight was a hard one, you needed to level up first and come back later. The cave isn't going anywhere.
Perhaps people are used to doing everything on their first try or something. You don't go into an RPG, lose on the first difficult fight and say that the combat system sucks.
Also, learn how dodging works.
"active dodging adds temporary bonus to dodge or parry value (depends on style and maneuver). the value is either 50 points (not percents) to parry for steel strong and fast styles and either 25 points to dodge or 25 points to parry for steel group style and all silver styles. bonus has same duration as animation. both geralt and enemies dodge and parry during attacks. parry check is made first then dodge check. they are independent, if both fail you are being hit."

I haven't seen what the game looks like in motion and maxed out, It's the best looking RPG from what I've seen, but I also see a lot of flaws with the engine.looks great even with igns crappy video quality, imagine how it will look on screen. :)
i like the fact it has lots of foliage aswell.

Yah I tried tinkering with the video and I couldn't get much difference in quality when uploading it to youtube.

This is not only one of the best looking RPGs but also one of the best looking games overall.
Also the guys voice in the trailer is kind of creepy at times like when he whispers the word "world".
i can't wait to see that snowy cliff at the start in full screen 1080p, hopefully some more screenshots will be released in the next couple of days.
Best looking RPG ever for sure. I also think it's the nicest looking game I've ever seen, only just beating out vanilla Crysis. Maybe not technically as impressive, but it's just so beautiful. I'm looking forward to getting into this one after Valkyria Chronicles.
