Source.

"The Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto believes the famed franchise is too difficult for gamers. And in a recent interview with German gaming outlet Gaming Media, he said he's working on making it easier.

Miyamoto told the publication that the last few generations of Zelda games have been too complicated for gamers to get into. He said he and his team are "creating a new way to play the game."

Zelda games are easy...(the DS versions though were harder but not because of the difficulty but because Link wouldn't jump WHEN I CLICKED ON HIM TO JUMP!) The only "hard" Zelda title was Majora's Mask...

I remember reading that Miyamoto meant easier controls in that interview.

So.... yeah.

If you read what Miyamoto actually said, then the aim is not to make Zelda easier but to make the game's controll mechanism more accessable.

In the same way that Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are much streamlined and more accessable than Super Mario 64, for example.

This is not a bad thing. With the way Super Guide has been implemented so far, it stands to reason that the core difficulty for the next Zelda title will actually go up, rather than being reduced.

Theres really not much to say really. He's wrong. Zelda games usually are easy games to get into, their not overly complex or frustrating.

I was pissed when I read the thread title, but then I read the article. Like others have said, he's not saying the game will be easier.

It's a good thing, too. The last thing Zelda needs is for the difficulty to be easier. Twilight Princess was ridiculously easy.

I must of missed where he said accessible, because he definitely said easier. How can you make a Zelda game more accessible than it already is anyway? Whatever. I don't get Nintendo or Miyamoto. They must think all casuals are clueless.

Yeah it will be more accessible. The question is how, this is the most interesting part of the whole E3 for me, lol. If they nail it, like with SMG, it's gonna be huge.

I think the interface will be gone. They might even go the route where you use dungeon specific items, not only that, but less items overall, it's just that 1 item is gonna do much more, instead of having these useless items like slingshot. Anyway we are so close now it's not even worth speculating

He said easier to play, not easier game. It could be they have some form of the Hint TVs in SMG 2 or Super Guide in the game to help players. If so, that means a harder Zelda is likely to be.

Spin "easy to play" as you want. He also used the words difficult and complicated, weather he ment the controls or the game itself I don't know.

Actually, yes, they are clueless, there are a lot of people who don't know the Zelda formula, they are expecting some kind of action game instead of an adventure game, you have no idea how hard was for my cousin to start in OoT, and nowadyas, another non gamer cousin had a huge trouble with TP because it didn't have enough clues to where to go.

And? Back in the nes-sega gen days we didn't have anything but the old atari and those games werent hard. It was a huge jump! Hell most nes games are harder than the current gens. (Original Zelda :D) Man these days people want everything to be so easy...making it worse for the rest of us.

easier to play isn't a bad thing with Zelda

who can really say they liked Zelda 2 more than A Link to the Past or even the first Zelda?

The whole idea is that your ment to explore and find out where to go, that was one of the finer points to a zelda game I would of thought. Not have your hand held.

I do not want to roll on every tree in OoT just to find every skulltulla, nor do I want to try burning each bush in the original LoZ just to find the level 7 dungeon

in the context of the game being complicated and him creating a "new way to play", yes i would say that he means easier to learn. not necessarily less challenging.

Why do people want games to be on rails? What's the point of gaming if there is no present challenge? A couple of days ago some guy posted he liked playing on Easy because normal is hard and games are suppose to be fun and not challenging...wtf is happening? Casual overload?

I find this good news. I never finished a Zelda game. Why? They were too complicated. I felt I needed to have a strategy guide glued to the TV just to do anything. Somethings you could figure out on your own but others were so obscure and bizzare with no clues in game that without a guide, I got lost.

I'm sure the "H4RDC0R3" gamers will denounce this, but I'm happy for it.

Navi in Ocarina of Time and the boat in Wind Waker constantly remind players of what to do and where to go... so it's kind of a tired complaint about Zelda imo

that's still too hawdz.

I wouldnt be surprised if future Zelda's have a feature where all you have to do is push a button (the win button) and all of the Triforce shards as well as the Master Sword are aquired automatically.

..because exploring for items and solving puzzles is so 10 years ago Lulz.

Not to sound like a "hardcore gamer", but I have never found many of the modern Zelda games particularly hard... the retro ones were tougher, but not brutal or anything. Seems like an unnessecary step. Just add difficulty modes.

Strip down the 'adventure' and 'exploration' part and all you get is a glorified puzzle game. Bosses are basically moving puzzles, it's not an action game, you can't add difficulty modes.

Sure you can, just not universal ones. Easy mode would provide more tips on screen to help solve puzzles, and enemies could do less damage when you mess up. Something like that.
