That's terrible, but still pretty damn funny.

Pertaining to the topic, the only fear I have is sacrificing depth in favor of accessibility. One usually goes hand in hand with the other. While Miyamoto may not be making the game easier per se, he's certainly not going to be going back to the days of old OoT difficulty, and considering how simplistic TP was, I don't really see an upside to this.

Not to sound like a "hardcore gamer", but I have never found many of the modern Zelda games particularly hard... the retro ones were tougher, but not brutal or anything. Seems like an unnessecary step. Just add difficulty modes.

kontejner44

Strip down the 'adventure' and 'exploration' part and all you get is a glorified puzzle game. Bosses are basically moving puzzles, it's not an action game, you can't add difficulty modes.

Not really, theres a lot of combat and it wouldn't kill to add an extra difficulty where there are more enemies that hit harder, and bosses could have extra abilities. Maybe add an extra layer to each puzzle. I fail to see how it's impossible to add settings to this kind of game.

Sure you can, just not universal ones. Easy mode would provide more tips on screen to help solve puzzles, and enemies could do less damage when you mess up. Something like that.

The idea of that just sounds complicated.

How about gamers who are not really into games not play our games and go back to wii sports? There, problem solved.

He said easier to play, not easier game. It could be they have some form of the Hint TVs in SMG 2 or Super Guide in the game to help players. If so, that means a harder Zelda is likely to be. yoshi_64

I hope so. Twighlight Princess was already ridiculously easy, what they need to do is increase the difficulty, or at least offer several difficulty levels.

When talking about controls, it makes sense. NES controls are very simple, and the less clicks the better.

Phaze-Two

Just look at the Super Mario 64 ---> Super Mario Galaxy analogy. It became streamlined, the interface is simplistic. The levels went from sandbox to linear. Levels are easier accessible, especially in SMG2.

Apply this logic to Zelda, and you get OoT --> Zelda TP --> Zelda Wii

If you didn't like TP changes, it's just gonna get alot worse lol.

Just like Mario Galaxy 2 was supposed to be.

This is just that Demo Play stuff coming to fruition

If you read what Miyamoto actually said, then the aim is not to make Zelda easier but to make the game's controll mechanism more accessable.

In the same way that Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are much streamlined and more accessable than Super Mario 64, for example.

This is not a bad thing. With the way Super Guide has been implemented so far, it stands to reason that the core difficulty for the next Zelda title will actually go up, rather than being reduced.

I was going to ditch my Wii in the trash until I read this statement. You've allowed my Wii to survive another few months...

Wha? I'm 20. What do you mean by old? Nothing that contributes to the topic? Just Old? lol.

Pixel: What games have you passed without giving up and going to gamefaqs? When was the last time as well?

Mostly older games. My point wasn't having to go to Gfaqs. It's how often. I can beat most games only needing to visit gfaqs a handful of times. With Zelda games, if I don't have that faq printed out and at my side the entire game, I'm lost. The game generally gives me little indication of what to do.

I find this good news. I never finished a Zelda game. Why? They were too complicated. I felt I needed to have a strategy guide glued to the TV just to do anything. Somethings you could figure out on your own but others were so obscure and bizzare with no clues in game that without a guide, I got lost.

I'm sure the "H4RDC0R3" gamers will denounce this, but I'm happy for it.

kontejner44

Specifically which Zelda games are you talking about? Try starting with DS Zeldas and TP, they're good in that regard.

Do not even touch Majoras Mask ;p

Link to the past

OOT

WW

Phantom Hourglass (lesser extent, it's far more straight forward but there were a few times that were utterly confusing)

Links awakening

LOZ.

[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"]

[QUOTE="Dahaka-UK"] The whole idea is that your ment to explore and find out where to go, that was one of the finer points to a zelda game I would of thought. Not have your hand held. 88mphSlayer

You haven't watch a non gamer right? they will get frustarted in a couple of minutes and going back to Wii Sports, unless is someone who actually wants to get into the game, but non gamers wiil quite if they cannot even find the freaking sword, i say if they make the game more accessible to non gamers and at the same time make an awesome game like SMG2, then why not, even if the game is "easy".

Navi in Ocarina of Time and the boat in Wind Waker constantly remind players of what to do and where to go... so it's kind of a tired complaint about Zelda imo

Navi was little help most of the time. I'd talk to her and what she'd tell me to do didn't help at all. It was like being asked to guess what number someone was thinking of, from 1 to one thousand, and getting a hint that it was not 42. Not a huge help.

I find it rather furstrating to be stuck at something for a month. And sometimes the solution is so vague that, had I not had help, I am confident I'd of never figured it out.

I've never actually had any real problem with zelda games in terms of difficulty. I guess the only two times where I was frustrated was during the goran roll challenge for the fierce diety link mask in MM and water temple in LOZ. I think they need to somehow change the formula for zelda so ppl won't feel like they're playing the same game they were 20 some years ago.

So was inFAMOUS, FFXIII, and RDR, God of War 3, Bioshock 1 & 2, Uncharted 1 & 2, Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, yet I don't hear people singling those titles out. Hmm :? Only a handfull of games this generation are challenging tbh.

IMO if you care about challenge, shut off the PS3/WII.360 and go get an NES.

there's no problem with this, super mario galaxy 2 has the dvd and hint tv's to tell people how to perform actions. easing people into playing more complicated is a great way to get none gamers gaming. at the moment controls can feel a little intimidating to people, so having in game guides and such is a good idea. it's better than making games easier.

zelda series is based on puzzles. The combat is very simple. Dumbing down the dungeons will just make this game mediocre.

nostalgic dream my friend. Zelda TP had the best designed dungeons by far. Zelda OOT is the worst 3d zelda game.
