Well it is a rumor, but I have mixed feelings about it
But in the end, all is based on speculations
Its a double edged sword in my opinion. On the one hand you have more support from developers hence more games leading to more potential owners of the console. But on the other hand, people might steer away from the next gen xbox because they won't be able to play used games.
Too bad no one wants to buy a system that scraps used games in favor of systems that allow used games (except fanboys such as yourself).
Can't see this happening MS are sure to know this will effect hardware sales, I mean they don't even use online passes on the games they publish.
That would be great for Sony because they'd be getting my money next gen. This is a rumor anyway. hummer700Yeah when modern warfare 4 comes out only for ms u will be left out, deal with it
Who would sell that console? Nobody would.
Who would buy that console? Nobody would.
It's real genius.

MS actually tried to buy the series and make it exclusive and Acti said no.....so it will be multiplat

They've done remarkably well with the series even with a used game market. Why would they ostracize an entire userbase on the off chance that the console sells well and they need not worry about used game sales?
Yeah until they realize microsoft sold only 5 consoles...

3 of which were bought by ForzaGears.
They will be the lead platform for sure and Microsoft games will be their # 1 priority if Sony or Nintendo doesn't follow suit. Once again genius move by Microsoft. Deal with itForzaGearsFaceThey don't know it yet but developers are shooting themselves in the foot. And 3ed partys waved bye bye to Nintendo awhile ago and it hurt them so bad they've actually won this gen. Also hey ShadowMoses900 was right someone is sporting this already.
Yeah, no. Not happening for purely technical reasons if nothing else. They is no authentication system they could use that would prevent used game use without demand 100% up time on a net connection, which they simply won't have.DerekLoffin
Not true at all....
One time use serial codes would not require a constant online connection. You could have an encrypted list of around 10 million active keys on the disc itself. These keys would be registered once you sign in to live, so while those without an internet connection will never have the codes registered, it would stop that vast majoirty of people being able to trade the games.
Mainly because all retail stores would assume the code has been used. Some would get away with it, 99% of users would not.
1 time code = activation of the software. Live then provides the console with a pass to use the game. This would not require a 100% uptime at all. And thats just one method, Im sure they could do much better than I can think up.
It would be interesting if the next Xbox doesn't allow used games and the next PS does. Provided they sell somewhat similarly and the games are the same price next gen as they did this gen, we would finally get some real world data on whether or not used games hurt the publishers.
I like to see game developers getting what they deserve for their hard work so I'm fine with this. I suppose those that couldn't care less about the people who make their games if it saves them a few bucks might be concerned though.

Or maybe because not everyone can afford to buy all their games new but they're terrible people too right?

Just like kinect was gonna be a failure hahahahahaThey will be the lead platform for sure and Microsoft games will be their # 1 priority if Sony or Nintendo doesn't follow suit. Once again genius move by Microsoft. Deal with itForzaGearsFaceDon't expect that to happen. Gamestop would probably stop selling XBox's if Microsoft did that and Gamestop sells almost 45% of their hardware. Gamestop, Gamefly, Best Buy, etc... all has a used game business that keeps them profitable. I doubt Microsoft who mess with that. You already have to pay an XBL fee just to play online. Used games aren't hurting Microsoft that much. All their big games sell pretty well.

Wonder how many jobs this will cost the nation? Guess it's okay to kill a market to "solve" a non-issue like used games.
If this goes through, not another Microsoft game system will enter my house.
edit: And if the game is used, the developers already got the money they were supposed to receive. If you don't believe that's fair, then if you have a used vehicle, you need to write out a check to your cars manufacturer.

Yeah, they're earning a lot from both despite being stupid.Same here. A super-enhanced DRM nightmare for a console? No thanks. I don't care how good the library is... and lets face it, the library will swiftly dry out if nobody actually buys the thing.Confirming no Xbox for me next gen.
Deal with it.

Plus while I am no fan of Gamestop, I don't buy this garbage that giving gamers a right to sell their games is bad for developers. At worst it might be bad for publishers, but it's logical that the revenue made selling used games can go towards buying additional shipments of brand new games.
