Anyone else find it amusing that a console blocking used games would be criminal, but gamestop (the king of used game sales) is an evil entity that hurts the fragile developers?WithoutGraceXII
And people say PC is bad cos of Piracy, consoles are just as bad
[QUOTE="DerekLoffin"]Yeah, no. Not happening for purely technical reasons if nothing else. They is no authentication system they could use that would prevent used game use without demand 100% up time on a net connection, which they simply won't have.BibiMaghoo
Not true at all....
One time use serial codes would not require a constant online connection. You could have an encrypted list of around 10 million active keys on the disc itself. These keys would be registered once you sign in to live, so while those without an internet connection will never have the codes registered, it would stop that vast majoirty of people being able to trade the games.
Mainly because all retail stores would assume the code has been used. Some would get away with it, 99% of users would not.
1 time code = activation of the software. Live then provides the console with a pass to use the game. This would not require a 100% uptime at all. And thats just one method, Im sure they could do much better than I can think up.
The system you just described has a HUGE HOLE IT. Any off line system is immune to it. That's the point. That wouldn't stop squat. It has as much potency as the online pass systems. And all that assumes the code system itself isn't defeated, which if PC is any example it will be.They will be the lead platform for sure and Microsoft games will be their # 1 priority if Sony or Nintendo doesn't follow suit. Once again genius move by Microsoft. Deal with itForzaGearsFaceIf this happens, I see less Microsoft consoles being sold and more Nintendo and Sony consoles being bought by those people. If all consoles take this route, I will stick with just PC starting next gen forward. At least with PC gaming, the game go on sale for dirt cheap, which is like being able to buy used. Console games don't drop to those for years if at all. If not for the great PC game sales, I would just give up gaming all together next gen if these rumors prove true. Seems like it is the devs and console makers goal to destroy the gaming industry or at least drastically reduce the number of gamers in the industry.
Get ready for 3rd party devs to start making only for ms and see cows cry poverty lolForzaGearsFaceMore like watch devs cry because nobody is buying their games because nobody bought the console they support because it doesn't play used games. Then from their the devs will have two choices. Either A. They start making those games for the systems people are buying or B. Those devs go bankrupt.

I do not. While those without an internet connection will slip through the net, it will stop used games sales in stores.
It really is that simple. If a store has to assume the code has been used - as is logical considering the majority are online - then they will not be able to be sold second hand.
As I said, Im not MS, I sure they can come up with better. To say that they cant to me seems silly. Its doable for sure.
[QUOTE="eboyishere"][QUOTE="ForzaGearsFace"] Yeah when modern warfare 4 comes out only for ms u will be left out, deal with itForzaGearsFace
MS actually tried to buy the series and make it exclusive and Acti said no.....so it will be multiplat
Well with this no used game thing, things change, So deal with it Are you really that stuck on stupid?[QUOTE="ForzaGearsFace"]Deal with itDemonjoe93
We don't have to. We just won't buy M$'s next system.
Something tells me you wouldn't buy it in any case.. but oddly enough, if sony and nintendo get on board with this, you would still buy those...right???[QUOTE="Demonjoe93"][QUOTE="ForzaGearsFace"]Deal with itspiderluck

When it happens you will all deal with it cause ms will have the most powerful console and kinect 2 all along with crazy 3rd party support and probably u will see these dev dumping support for last place loser Sony! Deal with itForzaGearsFace
Thing is, nobody really wants Kinect 2. Well, some people may do, but most do not.
No one really cares how powerfull the next box is either, they just want an upgrade from the current console.
Its all about the games dude. If they have the games, they will sell consoles. If they dont, then they will not. Its simple.
your boner for MS stamped 'deal with it' doesnt impress anyone dude. If MS bar used game sales, it will hit them hard.
Just curious seeing as you are an uber lem, but what is your take on this?
would you mind if used games were blocked on MS next console?

I seem to remember a recently launched platform that essentially had no used games on it... PSP Go ring a bell?[QUOTE="Menalque2"]
XBOX NEXT.... now you're playing a console that's worthless straight out of the box.
Shewgenja
That didn't stop MS this gen, so, why not?
One ring to rule them all. :o

Some legend that was banned, he is on ign and other sites now he posts some threads he made on here and makes fun of all the people in here who were hotshot posters who he totally owned, he said he had death threats that's how bad he got under their skin[QUOTE="BibiMaghoo"][QUOTE="ForzaGearsFace"] Stopped reading at no one wants kinect 2! Ill be honest here, I did say kinect would suck before it launched, and it has sold incredibly well. Doesnt really change the fact that everyone I know that owns one doesnt ever use it lol. Everyone I know that ownes one, wouldnt buy another lol.
That why I say people dont want K2. Some do, but most people just cant be bothered with it.
ermm...deal with it? did I do that right?

1. Developers will hype the crap out of it along with MS.
2. The system launches and sells out to all the die-hard fanboys who will buy it on brand name alone (Remember when Sony fans got accused of this?)
3. Hackers WILL tear the system a new butthole
4. The hardware will continue to sell, but spurned consumers will not buy the software anywhere close to the same capacity enjoyed in previous generations
5. Software sales seems stagnant compared to rivals systems
6. Developers start making more money on the other platforms and get on-board making exclusives for them
7. Sales of the hardware more or less flat-lines
8. An Xbox 720 update is hyped that will disable the wretched DRM
9. It will be too late, because WiiU and PS4 have already gained enough steam and the XBox 3 finds itself in the same place the first one did.
used games isnt a lost sale to a developer only reason someone will buy a used copy over new copy because the games cheaper and obviously they didnt want to spend 60$ so u arent gonna get that sale anyway.
that person who bought the game used might buy download content for the game that's money they're losing out on.
You are such a MS dick sucker, my God! You must get paid from them to act like this, I mean your doing this 24/7 so this has to be your job. There's simply no way someone would act like this wihtout an incentive, doing it for no reason at all would just make someone a huge loser.
If MS chooses to axe used games than I'm going to axe the Xbox brand. I don't like having my rights as a consumer trampled on unlike you, I actually like knowing I can do whatever I want to with my phyiscal copy of a game I own.
If MS says no used games I say no new Xbox, it would make choosing next gen real easy, Genius!

Doesn't seem like the dude has much of a life honestly....
This wouldn't be a big deal to me. I don't really have a stance on it but I buy my games new anyway unless they're really old.Ugalde-
u wont be able to buy old games because a new copy of that old game will be like 300$
How exactly would this affect a rental service like GameFly? If it's put into place by Microsoft, then that will really hurt anyone who buys used games, but maybe even people who rent games (like me). So, how is this a viable option, when it's going to get in the way of other businesses? I'm hoping that a lot of people will protest to ensure that console manufacturers and/or publishers don't monopolize the gaming market.
Also, I stumbled across an interesting article, which gives some pretty good reasons as to why the next Xbox more than likely will not block used games: http://stickskills.com/2012/01/25/the-next-xbox-wont-block-used-games-heres-why/

They will have a DD store on xboxlive it wont matter if a game is out of print. you can buy it on xbox live. problem sovled
Is this legit?
Unless console prices go down, this might actually become a problem. Sure you can get very cheap console games if you know where to look, but unless they really succeed in making consoles function more and more like the PC market--like it happened this gen--then this could be a problem with sales down the line.
We´ll see if the console market is ready for digital distribution next gen. I know that a lot of you people don´t like the idea, but let´s face it, if you have in any way bought and downloaded any of the great titles that are currently in the net stores that the consoles provide, you have in some way already experienced what digital distribution has to offer, not only that, but you have had a hand in making it establish itself further on the consoles. The only difference here is that you haven´t experienced it with heavy hitter titles.
