Next gen proves that crytek is nothing special

So,some people believe that crytek is more talented than other devs as far as graphics are concerned(of course,even crytek fans don't talk about their gameplay designing skills,but I digress).I have always believed that this is false,and other devs are just as capable,if not better,when it comes to graphics.The ONLY reason why they didn't bother to make graphics kings,is because they didn't need the graphics gimmick to remain relevant.

Now that next gen is about to begin,other devs are showing what they can actually do.Battlefield 4,deep down,Unreal Engine 4 etc DESTROY crysis 3.I think this proves that crytek is mediocre in the graphics department too.

We cannot discredit Crytek for what they believed in or pursuit, that would be insane. They have achieved alot with their propietary engine, however i do find them lacking in the Art department. For me Crytek are more like designers/engineers than artist which leaves their gaming idea more science like than art

I'll believe it when I'm holding those next-gen games with my grubby hands. Until then, it's still Crysis 3.

I didn't get onboard the hype train with Crysis 3 either until I finally bought the game. Same goes for other games.

I like to see it and play it so I can be immersed within the visuals. Only then can I make a proper observation. Watching it is no better than cutscenes which I skip whenever possible.

Well I think they make great game engines and mediocre games. But they are certainly not the worst developers out there.

Because their tech demos show what the games will actually look like not the full power of the engine. All the tech demos I've seen so far for next gen look amazing but they're bloated and are cranked way passed what the hardware will do at playable levels. All that sh!t is gonna be scaled back. They're bloated to try sell people on the engine and used to dupe fools like you into believing it's possible

Also those Cryengine 3 visuals are available NOW, no need to wait and hope the games will actually look like that. Crysis 3 already proved next gen visuals before next gen even launched. It just did it on PC. When next gen hits it will look great but Cryengine 4 will not be far behind and then it's back to square one

Tech demos are just that... demos.

Not always indicative of any products that may come. Tech demos don't have to rely on being a game to be a demo, which is the reason why they usually look way better than any game does, at least at the beginning of a systems life cycle.

Crytek makes some bad ass graphics engines, trying to discount that is kind of dumb.

Visuals that Crytek produced last gen are now being equalled, or surpassed by TECH DEMOS running on next-gen hardware.

That says a lot about Crytek.

Too bad though. I really wanted to see that tessellated toad in the game even as an easter egg. :lol:

Crytek haven't been special since 2007 with their release of Crysis. 

I've also heard that Cryengine is easy to use just like Unreal as well. Cryengine tends to have great customizability, which in turn makes it a popular choice for developers.

Even if it can't do the most technical stuff compared to other engines or demos (in this case it is still very far a long graphics wise to some of the tech demos I saw), you can't say that they didn't inspire anything from next gen competitors to make better engines for devs, and cheap ones as well.

So they're matching Cryengine 3 which was created in 2009 and they wont be beating it until next gen consoles come out.  That kind of says that Crytek is something special

Its not an easy sell to compare anything to a popular engine maker and developer for the most part. You can include many optimistic comments toward them no matter how bad you think there games look or are critically.

Someones never played Crysis 3 maxed.  Nothing comes close really.  When psycho finds out what he finds out and goes on a rant, best graphics ever.

We had this kind of graphics 6 years ago on PC. So you wanna tell me that Crytek is nothing special even though it took everyone else 6 years to come up with the same kind of graphics? And BF4 doesn't really look better than Crysis 3, neither does Killzone 4. And the faces from Activison are actually from a nVidia presentation and they're just faces, not huge outdoor levels with millions of polygons.
