I know some people have already seen this, but I'm sure there's a lot who haven't.

Honestly I hope games will never look like that. Realism is so boring, and I dunno about you guys but I play games to get away from reality. If I wanna look at something real I'll leave my room. Which I know is a scary thought for some of you people.starwarsgeek112I agree, when graphics are so good they're actually almost life-like it kinda defeats the point of playing the video games... mm that didn't really make sense, it's hard to explain.

you can still have crazy worlds, like imagine a star wars game and all the characters look realistic it would be awesome.

Its true, image it like a movie, but a movie you can play with. So awesome.:D

OMG, like a video, but a game?! Thats unheard of!Honestly I hope games will never look like that. Realism is so boring, and I dunno about you guys but I play games to get away from reality. If I wanna look at something real I'll leave my room. Which I know is a scary thought for some of you people.starwarsgeek112Just because life like animations are possible doesn't mean all developers would have to use them. Like other had stated, a Star Wars game with these animations would be awesome.
no its prob gonna be like that the gen after the one is coming. But still if they want us to buy Next gen (the one in 010-011) graphics better be MUCH better than what it is now.Dont want a wii 2 with 360 graphics in 2011.Syferonikthe article said they are hoping to pretty much blend the line between reality and cgi by 2020. Games won't see that for a while i don't think, games need to catch up with pixar first, so you're probably right by 2 gens away, that will be around the 2020 mark.
I honestly don't want graphics to be that good some day. That isn't something I'm looking forward to.Vandalvideowhy? having no jaggies, no low res textures, basically playing a beowolf quality game in the next couple of gens will be awesome. It's like saying in the ps1 days i don't want ps3 graphics they look too realistic.
When you start getting graphics to the point where they look like real life you start to get rid of some of the room for more artistic approaches to graphics. Not to mention it will be extremely unsettling to have those kinds of graphics in a shooter.Vandalvideo
that is true, it will be more disturbing, but like current games you would hope people will be able to detach themselves from whats actually happening in the game, and realise the fact they are playing just a game. a realistic GTA or manhunt will be pretty **** up if it takes on these graphics though.

Or atleast an NPC based off of a real human being. That is just disturbing beyond belief. Oh and the artistic thing is still valid.

Yeah... exactly. Look at the different ways film stock is used and manipulated to create a grainy or colored or specific look in a movie. I think it's a great advancement... and this combined with some of those DX 11 shots... i can't wait.its good but not crysis good nice try, crysis king!!!!!11 joke no that looked great i see actors being replaced soon loldarbyshireandyMade using PC gaming technology. Mwahahaha.
It's impressive but not impressive at the same time.
From a rendering viewpoint it is highly advanced and way beyond today, but if it was a game it would be a cut scene with a pre recorded actor. What's impressive is maintaining a certain quality and realism level during game play.

LOL..... when will people understand that emulating reality is also art. And second, i have been ripped a new one with this on previous posts, but it would be awesome to have a FPS that looks like the real thing, instead of it kinda looking like the real thing.
Third. Even the first time i saw her i i figured she wasnt real becuase of the mevement of her eyes and lips (maybe i just noticed that because im a med student a i pay attetion to such details in a human).

I did not say that realism isn't an art style. I said that this technology is limiting the use and development of other art styles itself. Realism runs counter to all the other art styles. When future technology is dedicated solely to providing something so life like, you will have degraded quality in other art styles. And as far as FPS looking like the real thing, that is just really sickening to thinka bout it .You can talk about catharsis all you want, but that is just wrong.
Id hit it....
Ohh wait...
Exactly, it's amazing how real she looked.Hehe good one.End of next gen maybe we will see something close to this. Edit: The eyes are good, but there is something about them that just isn't right. horgen123I noticed that about the eyes too. They seemed a bit off.

Not to mention the poilitcal **** storm and any violent game with those kinds of graphics would cause.
