Nextgen consoles struggle to run a 3 year old PC game. Consoles are put to shame

While we PC gamers were enjoying the game called Half Life 2, console kids were playing jrpgs on their PS2 or PS2 ports on their Xbox. Now Orange Box is now out for the 360 and PS3, giving the console kids who never played Half Life 2 a chance to experience a great game.

Now this is all good for Valve, but it truly shows how far behind consoles are compared to a gaming PC in the $500-$800 range. First of all, 30 fps max on a 3 year old PC game? Ha! That is laughable. My PC when Half Life 2 came out could run it faster and better than current consoles. Second, the online structure for both versions of TF2 are horrid. Third, the controls are terrible, and the bulky and inferior controllers could never match up to a keyboard and Mouse. Lol @ console FPS games.

Then you have games like Halo 3 that run at 640p on the 360,and Call of Duty 4 that runs at 600p on both consoles. Lol again. I play CoD 4 and the Orange Box at 1680 x 1050 NATIVE with everything maxed. Consoles graphics are a joke compared to the PC.

Of course console kiddies will counter with "DUUR HUUR PC GAMING IS EXPENSIVE :(". I will just say that I have a steady well paying job, and I can afford QUALITY platforms, instead of cheap plastic toys that call themselves "gaming machines. Enjoy your bluray player and your low end PC called the Xbox 360.

Console wars is a war for second place in terms of quality. PC as digital downloads to keep itself going (and it is going strong). PS3 has mainly retail sales (which it is poor at). If any platform is dying,it is the PS3. R.I.P.

There are 2 things wrong with your post. 1st, UT3 was on PS3 and PC, it's not exclusive and it's not that great of a game anyway. 2nd, Crysis has sold probably around 100k retail and even more in online purchases, and STALKER is fairly popular among the PC gaming crowd.

I know this is hard to believe,but I have a PS3 and Xbox 360. And guess how often I play it? 2-3 hours a week,while I spend 30 hours on the superior platform like the PC.

They probably did, but going porting a game from the PC to consoles is difficult. Look at Supreme Commander for the 360, it doesn't even look as good as the PC version did.

I think the fact that consoles dont have a HD standard at all - is the biggest joke compared to PC this gen.

The 8800GT really marks an era of affordable high end PC gaming, at a medium range price.

there just badly optimized ports thats all, there are far better looking games that half life 2 on consoles, half life 2 looked so dated and old I actually couldnt stand playing it

Please, the console versions of Team Fortress 2 isn't horrid, stop claiming things. Thats what you pretty much do assume things, claim everything beneath the godly PC is inferior. The controls for TF2 and so are fine, they never faultered me. You place it like both sides play one another in the same game, making PC have the upperhand. Its the same game, whether Keyboard and mouse or controller. I have used both my entire life, and I enjoy using both styles of control.

You also act as if everything can be played on PC, consoles have their own share of games that don't release on PC or very often do. As much as I like to play my RTSs and certian WRPGs on PC, I like to play my JRPGs, platformers, and fighting games on console.

All you do it waste time sprouting how much your opinions states PC gaming is better, instead of actually doing it.

My PC AMD Athlon X2 5200+, 7900GT, 2GB PC2 6400 DDR2 RAM

Not the greatest PC in the world but still quite efficient. I game on my PC just not as much on my consoles.

PC does not have the amount of quality games that consoles have and never will. There are 4 to 5 games a year worth owning on PC yet there are 3 times as many games worth owning on consoles. Go ahead play on your vaulted PC, your kiddy tears are 4 times as good knowing that you don't get nearly the amount of varied gameplay experiences when owning a console.

I'm confused, the only game I actually want to own on my 360 is Mass Effect. All the ports are better on PC, and not to mention I have Crysis and The Witcher on PC. Your little idea that everyone thinks the same about games is a little misconstrued; I still would recommend that you take the advice in your sig to heart.

That's what I was pointing out, he thinks it's a fact that consoles have better games than the PC when it's all preference. The 360 was just proving my point.

I own a 360, PS3 and have a PC. My wisdom comes from years of gaming period. I look at my game shelf and there are a lot more games that I own on my consoles then on PC. I'll agree that it might come down to preference but PC gaming period does not release as many quality titles then what are available to consoles. Graphics are only one part of the equation, gameplay is the other.

yes but there are console games ported to the pc that were just as crap..

when the 360 came out it was doing things i hadnt seen on the pc.

Have you seen the graphical comparision between the two games? The PC one was 10x better and the game was a silly port.

While we PC gamers were enjoying the game called Half Life 2, console kids were playing jrpgs on their PS2 or PS2 ports on their Xbox. Now Orange Box is now out for the 360 and PS3, giving the console kids who never played Half Life 2 a chance to experience a great game.

Now this is all good for Valve, but it truly shows how far behind consoles are compared to a gaming PC in the $500-$800 range. First of all, 30 fps max on a 3 year old PC game? Ha! That is laughable. My PC when Half Life 2 came out could run it faster and better than current consoles. Second, the online structure for both versions of TF2 are horrid. Third, the controls are terrible, and the bulky and inferior controllers could never match up to a keyboard and Mouse. Lol @ console FPS games.

Then you have games like Halo 3 that run at 640p on the 360,and Call of Duty 4 that runs at 600p on both consoles. Lol again. I play CoD 4 and the Orange Box at 1680 x 1050 NATIVE with everything maxed. Consoles graphics are a joke compared to the PC.

Of course console kiddies will counter with "DUUR HUUR PC GAMING IS EXPENSIVE :(". I will just say that I have a steady well paying job, and I can afford QUALITY platforms, instead of cheap plastic toys that call themselves "gaming machines. Enjoy your bluray player and your low end PC called the Xbox 360.

Console wars is a war for second place in terms of quality. PC as digital downloads to keep itself going (and it is going strong). PS3 has mainly retail sales (which it is poor at). If any platform is dying,it is the PS3. R.I.P.

No i have not care to look at any web-comparision but i seen both myself, and who cares if PC looks slighty better when it not runs smooth?
