I would rather there be an optional device that costs extra than to have BC in all xboxes and raising the price of the console for everyone.mems_1224
id rather have an option to rebuy my games on a streaming service which would cost me 1500, rather than buy an xbox mini for 99. Â Â TLHBO

So it's the 32Xbox?lowe0Me thinks ya got it a lil backwards :o You'd be right if what this was is a 720 mini that popped on to the 360 but obviously, that's not what's going on here and thank goodness. :P
It has no disc drive because its a set top box. I assume it streams the 360 games to the 720 which is a nice feature, but its not an add-on.RR360DD
It's more likely that the 360 Mini has the 360 hardware inside it (power PC processor, Xenos) and that the 720 acts as a media drive.
[QUOTE="zomba1986"]Keep your 360. Buy the new one. Done. The fact you had to bring that up shows how dumb this place has became.http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/123201-Rumor-Durango-Peripheral-Offers-Xbox-360-Compatibility
hmm so microsoft wants us to buy two console. very disappointed MS, i dont mind always online but milking fans not good.

Â
the mini will be able to download and play xbox 360 games by itself. Â It does not need the 720 to function. Â If you buy that you have a basically more advanced roku box that capable of playing 360 games. Its secondary function is that it will let your 720 play 360 games if the two are connected. Â Two seperate products that work together. Â Its like having an ipad and an apple tv. Â Two seperte products that function seperately but can work with each other by design. Â
I know which is why i said the 720 will act as a media drive (disc drive) considering the Xbox Mini won't have one.
lol and the lemmings will bend over as usual and thank MS for the privilege.

'They bend over, take the 2x4 up the butt and say "thanks I needed that, wow I didn't realise how much I needed that". Then they go around acting like it is a good thing and want more.

lol at you at the failing damage control, actually I will sell my 360 to Gamestop, use the credit to buy the xbox mini, probably end up costing me about 50 dollars and I have my entire library of 360 games, which is about 58 games. Can you do that on the PS4? Yeah but you would have to buy every game from gataki streaming service, so for you with 58 ps3 games it costs you what 1000 bucks? for me 50? Yeah keep on crying pathetic cow. lol at you trying so hard.
You sound mad.
Considering how crappy the 360 hardware is. This is for people for whom their 360 broke again.Hmm, will mah 360 slim still play 360 games ? Yes, saweet, just chekin.
Anyway, this route is for those who never bought a 360 or just want the convenience of having a sorta all in one - good options are good. :P

You provide a good example. If Sony announced that a hardware add-on would be needed to make the PS4 backward compatible, lemming would react strngly in the negative and make fun of the cows.

However when MS do it, the lemmings suddenly believe it is a fantastic idea, well over due and cost is no object.

sounds about right. lol.You provide a good example. If Sony announced that a hardware add-on would be needed to make the PS4 backward compatible, lemming would react strngly in the negative and make fun of the cows.Nope. I'm just suggesting that backwards compatibility is a fairly easy workaround. A lot of PS3s this gen are not backwards compatible. And I'm not really understanding here. I enjoy games on my 360 and PS3? Therefore, I find value in it? Are you really so smug and condescending that you feel you should be the voice of what people do and do not find value in? I know its your schtick and all, but that's kind a d*ck mentality, wouldn't you say?Â

Are people still not getting how this works. The Xbox mini is just for the people for whom "Durango" (or what ever it's official name will be) is their first MS console. The mini is their means (an option) to get backwards compatibility if they want to catch up.
For those who already have the 360 they can just buy Durango by itself and play 360 games on their existing 360. Or if you just don't care about previous generation games, Durango will meet that players current gen gaming requirements.
Too complicated? :| And let's not forget, PS4 doesn't have built in BC either, you need an external service for that.
I doubt there'll be one for the PS4, Sony love their HD collections.System Wars stupidity never ceases to amaze.
There is no add-on. The GBA player for the Gamecube is an add-on. This is a set top box that is completely independant to the 720.
If you don't want a set top box, then don't buy it. Its for people who do want a set top box. And like many set-top boxes that have many different multimedia capabilities, this one has the advantage of having the Xbox 360s backlog.
The rumour isn't that hard to understand.

Exactly. The Xbox Mini is for people who don't already have a 360 and want to still play last gen games.

That's what I would do. But I don't think it's targeted at people that already have 360 but rather to new customers that might consider getting both. Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.

I'm honestly starting to think people here are just stupid. Â I'm just gonna leave this place for good. Â It is not hard to understand that this set up box is not about BC but about microsoft creating a product that competes with other internet streaming devices like the roku, boxee or apple tv. Â One of this streaming device's function is that it will let you play your 360 games on your durango if that is what you choose to do. Â But the primary function is that it is an internet streaming device and most people who buy it will probably buy it as just that because it kick roku, boxee, and apple tv's ass. Â It really isn't a hard concept people.Â
