Here at Gamespot the NFL 2K series always got better reviews than the Madden series.

NFL 2K1 9.9 / Madden 2001 9.3

NFL 2K2 9.5 / Madden 2002 9.2

NFL 2K3 9.1 / Madden 2003 9.0

NFL 2K4 9.3 / Madden 2004 9.2

NFL 2K5 9.2 / Madden 2005 9.0

Point of the post? Skip Madden 2008 and buy All-Pro Football 2K8, or hey, at least rent Madden, I think it's deserved that at least.;)

It sure seems that ever since EA bought the NFL rights, Madden has gone down the crapper. This is what happens when there is no competition. Hopefully EA won't get their hands on the NBA rights. The NBA Live series, even with competition, is completely pathetic and has been that way for years in comparison to the NBA 2K games.

Agreed, but don't forget that 2K hasn't made a football game in 4 years. And without current players how are you gonna have a career mode, franchise mode, and owners mode made entirely of retired and fictional players? As much as I hate madden (because of how sucky launch madden for 360 was), I think they will continue to have the edge on NFL until their monopoly runs out.

I hated the Madden series. Then one day I rented NFL 2K1 and I loved it.

APF 2K8 doesnt even have a franchise mode that you can use beyond one year. That's my biggest problem. However, as long as the fantasy draft is back then I will get Madden. It's going to be a blast to play it in college.

I don't care how good 2k8 is, as long as it doesn't have NFL teams and rosters it will be a no play for me.
