So says an anonymous (sadly) developer at Eurogamer. (Kotaku Link)

is finally doing the things developers have been crying out for for years.Anoymous_Developer

Kotaku continues:

What developers have been crying out for is the ability to take games they'd made for the PS3 and quickly (and easily) put them on Sony's portable platform. And with the NGP, it sounds like they can do just that.Kotaku

Which is something that should make us all go, "YIPPIE!!"

The article goes on to state some very important things. For one, Sony really had developers in mind when creating the NGP, making it easier to work with. There will also be some interactivity between the PS3 and the NGP (no surprises here). The 3G version will not launch when the Wi-Fi version launches.

NGP gets better every day. What was it Nintendo was releasing again?

Still have my money on the 3DS. The DS didnt DESTROY the original PSP just because it lacked a second analogue stick!

PS3 might be losing some exclusives if it truly is easy to port over to the NGP. Maybe they can port multiplat titles easily to it too like RDR and Black Ops and others popular ones like that.

NGP has better graphics than PSP and 3DS, the handheld will have enough resources for every developer. 3DS game development will take more time and effort because of the hardware limitation and 3D.

meh, cool for those who want a ps3 on the go, but for me i wouldn't really see the point. I buy multiplats for 360 and pc, so i would definitely not take a multiplat on NGP over pc, 360 and PS3. As for exclusives being ported i would rather just get it for PS3.

I'm still going to wait until E3 2012, I'm sure it will have a better library than the PSP but that's not saying much.

The games won't be identical (PS3 and NGP versions). It states that in the article. Plans are to include some interplay between the two, not sure what yet. I'm just happy Sony was smart enough to put a pair of analogs on the thing (unlike Nintendo). How is that not an obvious thing in this day and age?

The 3DS will definitely be more commercially successful, but I think the PSP2 will definitely be the better platform for games and solid innovative experiences (3D will never be innovative for games, just a gimmick). If I find the PS3 is a solid platform (I think my girlfriend is getting me one for Valentine's Day) then I will definitely consider selling off the majority of my 360 library and switching support to the PS3 and eventually get the PSP2.

the DS didn't even have an analog stick in the first place, and even then it library still ended up better than the psp's (arguable but most would agree) It's really up to the dev's to design games that cater to the system's strong points

why would the ngp be innovative? i really can't see the rear touchpad being a game changer, and will most probably be tacked on for many games. As for the touchscreen the 3DS also has one. The 3DS touchscreen can also be used in the same way as the rear trackpad, only it won't feel as natural. i think the cameras and virtual reality cards could be pretty sweet though, if games use them to good effect. I agree the 3d won't change anything though, as the viewing angle is so small that it couldn't be used to change the way you play a game. Still a decent feature though.

I agree, between the cameras, rear touchpad, touch screen and six axis developers better start getting creative... 3DS is a DS with 3D.

Uhh the 3DS also has a touchscreen, accelerometer, gyroscope and 3 cameras. The 3DS is far from 'a DS with 3D.' And I still think the trackpad on the back sounds like a horrible idea.

The 3DS's touch pad is only single touch though, NGP's is multitouch (on both front and back I believe). It is not really innovative as Ipod has had that for a while but it will allow stuff 3DS can't do without additional hardware.

Indeed. I can't stand certain games on my Android when I'm forced to cover it up with my fingers. Games that require constant touching just don't work that well. The best games I've come across are those that require taps and swipes.

On the other hand, if the NGP is only going to offer a slightly diluted PS3 experience, why would I bother to get one when I already have a PS3?

The fact that SONY made NGP an easy system to develop games for means they learned their lesson the hard way with PS3.

Yes, imagine that the 3DS has TWO SCREENS the top for the gameplay, no need to worry about putting your fingers over the screen where the action is. And you can't honestly tell me that the idea of positioning your fingers on the back of the handheld isn't going to be at least a little awkward.

No touchpads involve putting your fingers over the game you're playing. Touchpads are what is on laptops. But I still like the idea I'm all for both systems.

not really, some people just don't want a handheld ps3 if they already own a ps3, like me. This news does nothing for me, i will be far more interested if they announce some great must have titles, that use the NGP capabilities. This is a positive for those who want ps3 ports though, and it atleast mean sony aren't being stupid and making it impossible to develop for.

[QUOTE="APiranhaAteMyVa"][QUOTE="lbjkurono23"]Everything related to NGP always gets turned in to something negative. XDKashiwaba

not really, some people just don't want a handheld ps3 if they already own a ps3, like me. This news does nothing for me, i will be far more interested if they announce some great must have titles, that use the NGP capabilities. This is a positive for those who want ps3 ports though, and it atleast mean sony aren't being stupid and making it impossible to develop for.

Little deviants seems like one it looks innovative though we still don't know much about it.

I'm really interested in Little Deviants and Gravity Daze.

Seems like sony has all the bases covered on the ngp. You get psp/psn/android and ps3 ports so there should be plenty of games. You also have the hardware with plenty of control options from motion to a rear touch pad. You even get 3g for multi-player. The only downside is no backward compatibility with the psp. As long as the price is under the 300 buck mark count me in.
