@Vaasman: @illmatic87: @davillain-: Good to know, I'll put this on my mental wishlist for the time being.

I asked because as much as I love Platinum Games, I wasn't sure if diving into anime hell was worth it.

Then I realized that I own Metal Gear Solid V, and if the game's not making you focus Quiet's ass or breasts, it's making you stare at your in-game phone and micromanage your base for hours.

But I thought Japanese gaming is dead

Who the hell told you that?

System Wars, over the last ten years. I was told Japan is irrelevant. What's happening guys, someone explain

I've been living in Tokyo for 5 years now and am currently finding a game design job. Whoever told you that Japan won't make great games anymore is stupid. However, the Japanese video game market can be considered irrelevant now unlike before. Platinum and other Japanese game developers that derive their main income from non-smartphone games rely on Western markets. Japanese market be damned. Smartphone game is the thing here in Japan so only Japanese developers making smartphone games can make huge profits here.

I am on campaign C now. This game is the shiznit. Still my current GOTY. Nothing I have played in this genre is as good, IMO.

I love the intro but I hope they fix the game on PC XD It is unplayable with the random crashes. With the exception of Toukiden 1, I haven't seen a PC game regularly crash in like forever. (I guess since TES: Oblivion... so like 11 years ago.) So I'm putting it on my digital shelve 'till I finish Persona 5 and hope it gets fixed in the meantime. I refuse to play the PS4 version.

(Yes I tried the tricks with vsync, overriding anisotropic filtering to off, lowering AA, playing windowed, using the user-made resolution patch, setting W10 performance mode to high, drivers are up to date and files verified. I am getting the screen freeze but the game keeps running kinda deal. Not the crash to white.)

It's pretty good. I have a rough time deciding what to play usually between this Zelda and Persona. Thank god I finished Nioh and Horizon.

Is this game REALLY that good? or is the Waifu factor just off the charts clouding people's judgements?

All I see is on the Steam Community Hub is screenshots of her ass and borderline echii/hentai nonsense...

It's a really fun game for a hack-n-slash genre and if you played like Metal Gear Rising (still my favorite Platinum Game to date) and enjoy it, you'll also may like NieR: Automata.

It's only the Anime fanbase are going crazy over 2B which is why you may think it's Waifu to you but don't let that stop you, it's still a hack-n-slash game first and foremost, not Anime.

Edit: There's a Demo on both Steam & PS4 if you just want to test the game for yourself before buying it.

Ok, I cant remember where i read it (maybe here or reddit), but someone suggested the Demo was a poor representation of the game hence why I've avoided it, is that right?

General consensus is it's a pretty solid port for the company, but it's not totally without issues. If you have a higher end card this game can hit 1080p 60fps maxed without much issue and often with a lot going on on the screen. I wouldn't exactly say it's graphically amazing though, so that shouldn't be too much of a surprise. The game does have occasional hitches in the open world, I've seen it and DF brings it up in their review. It's probably a loading thing if you are sprinting around, but it should be mentioned. Cutscenes play at 30fps and with some weird stutter at time. Also there's also a well known issue with the game's fullscreen functionality, which I don't know if it has been fixed or not but it was buggy for a lot of people trying to run without windowed mode.

There is some fanservice going on in-game so if that's a dealbreaker in a demo it's not like the main character is putting more clothes on suddenly after the demo ends. And the game is very weird as well, it's about in line with MGS in levels of absurdity that you sort of just have to roll with.

Personally I really love it, mostly because Taro Yoko is so completely shameless about it. (by the way the actual tweet and it's responses are mostly NSFW)

As far as I know the demo is the first 30ish minutes of the game, which is decently representative of the core gameplay. It shows off a lot of the perspective changing functions and scale of the bigger fights. It doesn't really get into the story beats, RPG elements, or unique mechanics that I don't really want to spoil too much of. Suffice to say, if you found yourself hating the demo, then I don't think you should try the full game at full price. The gameplay doesn't change so drastically that you'll go from hating it to loving it. But if you found yourself at least decently entertained or intrigued to play more then I strongly recommend a purchase. I've played through the game as much as you need to see the majority of the content, and I'd say it's a really excellent hack n slash with a rich story, amazing soundtrack, and many interesting and cool ideas throughout.

In terms of NieR: Automata's character design, it's not anime.

You have real world cosplay young women with fine facial features can reach similar look.

2B has red blood for some strange reason... It's seems to be anime Armitage's very advance android with organic components type or T-900 Cameron Phillips(played by Summer Glau) type from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

There are 26 different endings to this game (A - Z), but if you just play A, B, and C, you can move on to other games after that.

Just to clear this up there are 5 major endings not 3. I don't recommend you just stop at C because reasons. Past E though the rest are mostly silly. In-jokes and comical references to whatever you did to activate them.

If you're playing the game you might catch a few of the F-Z endings anyway, at least a couple of them are joke endings for dying in a spot where the saving function is deliberately turned off, or killing things you weren't supposed to.

And also if you're playing the game and just go "yay I hit the first ending that's all I need to be finished with this title," then that is a major disservice to yourself, because the game is fully designed around multiple playthroughs.

I strongly, strongly recommend to anyone interested in this game, to knock out the 5 major endings at minimum.

Yes, A-E is the best options. But if you tire of the game after 3 campaigns, C is really the bread and butter. D and E (I watched them) are meh and not needed IMO.

lol it's not even about disagreement, I'd just say that straight up is not a correct viewpoint ending E is definitively the true ending, it takes like 20 or 30 minutes on top of ending C so it's just a small bit of game left to get D and E, and some significant game mechanics are part of endings D and E. It'd be like if I made it through Sonic Adventure and didn't play the Super Sonic section. Or play through Bayonetta and put the game down when it hits the epilogue. It'd be like if you play 999 and give up after the safe ending. Or like playing Half-life 2 and the episodes but not playing 3 (oh wait).

All good. Not every shares the same opinion.
