I've never played GOW2 but i have played NG, and i loved it so much. It sux that gameplay is better in NG but the story doesnt compare to GOW2. Perhaps NG2 will fix these problems. I personally liked the music in NG especially near the later parts of the game.
[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"][QUOTE="DarkCloud79"]Personally I like GOW better, because it combines story, bad**sery and gameplay in the best way, but I really like NG too.
Btw, a game being more difficult doesn't mean it's better, by that thinking, I wanna be the guy would be the best game ever.
Oh, and I hope the people saying they like NG because the fighting is more thecnical, hardcore or real, aren't the ones who say like like Mario Kart better then GT.:)
DarkCloud79
Being more difficult it presents a challenge to the player which = fun
Unless you are some sort of baby who doesn't like it when a game challenges you.
It depends, if you make a game too difficult it will stop being fun and start being frustating and annoying.
But you're welcome to play, and finish, I wanna be the guy unless you are some sort of baby who doesn't like it when a game challenges you.:P
Thing is, it's not difficult if you actually think and learn the buttons presses. Like i know this one kid, i watched him play, he tried the same tactic over and over, it wasnt working. So obviously he needed to take a different approach, instead he gave up and called the game to frustrating. If it's really too hard, just like go to Ninja Dog mode :P
[QUOTE="dgo71102244"] I have studied Greek mythology and the story felt like they just got a couple of famous names and throw them in at random.CajunShooter
God of War does a real good job of taking Greek Myths and staying true to them and they do a great job or portraying the gods, goddesses, heroes, etc.
Not really, no.

Yeah WTF? Its not true to anything. Ninja Gaiden is more true to Ninjas than God of War is to any Greek Myth...
NG for gameplay
God of War for story

GoW has better gameplay. Come one, reflecting, slowing time, jump flying, etc... the amazing puzzles, and the epic story! GoW is a complete game while NG (I only played NGS) is a glorified samurai showdown, not that it's a bad thing.

that made me lol :lol:its sad that GOW has slowmotion gameplay so the casuals can comprehend what theres doing, while NG is so rediculously fast that it has to run at 60 fps to be played.
GOW = fun, epic, simple
NG = hardcore trial and error gaming that takes months to beat the 1th boss.
which is better is up to you

Either your exagerating or your the worst gamer ever :P
Ninja Gaiden is better for: Going on killing sprees, challenging first runthrough, more hardcore crowd (some people just hate dying).
GoW is better for: Engaging story, puzzle elements, more casual friendly (my gf actually likes this game:|).
Both are good and have elements they excel more at than the other.

hmm Gow has titan mode and ur gf would die pretty often.just because NG didn't give u difficulty options u say GOW is easy.
ninja gaiden win in EVERYTHING gameplay graphics level dessign boss battles lenght etc.>>>>>>>>>>> gow inferior gameplay and button smasher hungryheart077
I wouldn't say Ninja Gaiden story is better than GOW in any shape way or form. Story is definitely Ninja Gaiden weakest point, but still the game is very enjoyable from the beginning to the end with non-stop action which is what I prefer in an action game. I don't like the button masher gameplay that GOW offer, I don't feel any kind of accomplishment for beating GOW but that's of coursed just my opinion.;)
IMHO Ninja Gaiden is the better game!
I played 'black' on the xbox (never owned a PS2), and really, really liked and appreciated it, the story was quite forgetable, the characters, well I liked RYU but the rest of them were also forgetable, music? I didnt care...
Now that I own a PS3 I thought I would give the GoW collection a chance and if its good I would buy GoW3
My experience: I was quite disappointed from the beginning!
First: The camera is not movable, which means you will always have a preset camera, I didnt like that too much
the gameplay, I dunno, Ninja Gaiden (havent played the sequel yet) was quite fun, I mean every fight was an experience, whereas I felt like each fight in God of War as just another annoyance. You dont really feel like you're attached to the fighting in NInja Gaiden it felt like being one with RYU, GoW is a littlebit more distant
the story is actually forgetable as well in GoW IMO
the blades or the weapongs in GoW, totally forgetable!
cant wait to lay my hands on both sigma titles.... and resell the GoW collection, GoW has become a no no option
Why bump a 2 year old thread... Anyways, NG is better. GOW is a button masher, period.IMHO Ninja Gaiden is the better game!

Gameplay wise, I probably prefer Ninja Gaiden. As mentioned, it seems a lot more precise & smooth & it was so satisfying flying through a group of ninjas & leaving nothing but limbs & lots of blood behind. Slicing limbs off & the finishing moves were amazing.
GOW will always be the overall better experience. It has a great story, great gameplay, great graphics, great production value, great atmosphere. Ninja Gaiden only does two of those things well.
I think it depends what the individual wants from the game. I personally prefer NG. I didn't enjoy the DMC type gameplay for example. As far as Gow, I don't know, but others have said GoW was more about the story and it always came third or second after joint NG and DMC, when it comes to gameplay.
I never got into Ninja Gaiden but I love the GOW games. I'm going through GOWIII on Chaos Mode (unlockable hardest difficulty) and it's the best way to play it. I know NG has a deeper fighting system than GOW, but that doesn't mean GOW is casual by comparison. On Chaos Mode everything is about timing and it gets a lot more intricate in how you combine using all your weapons/combos together and dodge enemy attacks. NG on its hardest difficulty is probably harder than GOW but GOW is an awesome game based on gameplay alone. Kratos is controls great and is freaking fast and responsive. Timing and using the right attack is everything; it's very satisfying. GOWIII is far from a button masher on chaos mode.

God of War 2 was excellent, one of my favorite PS2 games there was, but God of War 3 really disappointed me this time around, I mean visually they nailed it but as far as gameplay went I thought it was rather lacking. I liked Ninja Gaiden 2 much more because a good beat em up game has to be challenging, which I did not find God of War 3 to be.lamprey263
What? I thought GOWIII's gameplay killed the previous games' gameplay. Kratos was so much faster and more responsive in GOWIII than the previous games. Take that with the cool weapons they added (that you actually use this time around) and stuff like the battering ram and when Kratos hooks onto someone and barges into him, it really makes me feel the downgrade when I go back to the previous games.
GOWII probably is my favourite in the series, but not because of the gameplay. I like GOWII the most because of its diversity in level design (Kratos goes through so many different environments with many more puzzles and the flying sequences among others were off the hook), the story, the length and its pacing. As for core gameplay though where you're fighting enemies, GOWIII is just way more fun to play imo.
If you found it to easy, did you play it on chaos mode? It's a lot more challenging that way; far from impossible, but a lot of fun. I've just gotten through the labyrinth and should be facing Zeus soon.
[QUOTE="thrones"]Opinions. I prefer God of War because it makes me feel powerful. And I find it's simply more fun to play, and it has a kick ass greek myth story.Decko5
its fun but it sucks when you do a combo and it just continues leaving you open to an attack. the camera also sucks
ninja gaiden is just a lot more smooth.
Ninja Gaiden's camera is *nothing* to brag about.Ninja Gaiden pretty much sexually assaults God of War in the combat department. Raw, no lube. God of War has the superior presentation, but I find it very hard to give a **** when Kratos goes out of his way to be such an unlikeable douchebag. God of War is a good series(specifically 2 and 3, one sucked), but Ninja Gaiden obliterates them in just about every area of gameplay/design. The only real advantage God of War has is plot/presentation and quite frankly I wouldn't brag about that plot. jg4xchampI...Agree...With Champ? *Goes to take a shower*
I played Ninja Gaiden, and honestly don't see why everyone considers it the definitive action game. Sure it may be harder, and require more precision than God of War, but all you have to do in GoW is turn up the difficulty, and wa la, no more button-mashing. Even if NG's gameplay is better, it's atrocious story, awful music, uninteresting characters, terrible VA, and only decent graphics completely fail in comparison to God of War. I find God of War's gameplay much more entertaining and fun than NG's, but that's me.
bstarter29
Which Ninja Gaiden are you referring to? Because the definitive Ninja Gaiden game is Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox), none of the crap that is on the PS3 nor Ninja Gaiden 2.
i agree. im not a big hack n slash fan but i think ninja gaiden is a much better game. my main problem with GOW3 is the camera stinks, mainly when you have to walk toward the screen. also kratos really hates to double jump. the game is just kind of boring with a little too much down time and problem solving. GOW does have a great story and good characters though. also the graphics while good in GOW3 are to dark and a little over-rated.
ninja gaiden is definitely more complex than god of war. what hack-n-slash isn't? God of war is very simple in terms of combat. but to be honest, DMC and bayonetta are definitely better and more technical than ninja gaiden.
When comparing dmc + bayo to ng, for example, in bayonetta you can chain combos via wicked weaving. As in, say you're doing a 5 button combo, and an enemy goes to attack you on the 3rd button, you can hold do the next button in the sequence while hitting dodge, and then continue the rest of that 5 button combo in order to get your final hair combo. In DMC, there's quick weapon switching just like in ninja gaiden, but in addition to quick weapon switch, there's s tyle switching as well. Not to mention jump cancelling in both DMC and Bayonetta.
doesn't take away from the fact that I'm still interested in what happens with ninja gaiden 3 (moreso than the DMC reboot), but I'd take bayonetta 2 over that in a heart beat.
