Nintendo 3DS Breaks Sales Records In Australia

So, as the 3DS continues to gain steam in Japan and the US, there are some haters (AtariKid, I'm looking at you) who maintain that the 3DS's success is localized, and that it is bombing everywhere else.

Almost as if to shut these folks up, Nintendo of Australia released a press release today, stating that the 3DS has sold 200,000 units in 37 weeks, making it the fastest selling system in the country. This includes all home consoles and handheld systems ever released there.

So, this means that the 3DS is a runaway commercial success in:

• Japan, where not only is it consistently selling more than double the number of al the other systems on the market put together, it is also dominating the software charts and tracking aheadof the original DS
• North America, where it has already outsold the total amount the DS sold in a year in just seven months.
• Australia, where the system has become the fastest selling system ever.

This is in addition to it having the most successful launch in history for any system in UK and Europe.

I'm still debating if I should get one or not.
It really needs some good new IP's. I'm not really interested in OoT and Starfox cause I played the hell out of them when I was a kid.

Not to mention the 3D gives me a headache after 30 minutes.

Should they release a new Pokémon title, I'll probably won't be able to resist buying one, though.

That is funny lol, very poor sales if you ask me. I wanted to get one but tried it at store and the 3d is horrid, i wish they just invested the money they are spending on 3d into second analog stick and better hardware. The 3d gimmick sucks. Ill probly get it eventually for Resident Evil games when i can find it around for $100 bucks.

I know im not hating on the system at all i do have interest in it, its just been really dissapointing because i remember when there were so much 3rd support talk for it and now i dont know where it all went ? On the other hand Vita looks like it has like 6 games i want to buy on launch. Ill get Vita because there are games on it i want to play now, then 3DS when Resident Evil comes out.

He forgot Sonic Generations (A good bit different than console/PC,) Nano Assault, Shinobi, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, Hollywood Crimes, and Cave Story 3D. If you're lucky and live in Japan, Monster Hunter 3G. It also has a pretty good Virtual Console as well as a few decent eShop games. Not to mention next year is freakin' loaded for the first 4 months.

DOA - Played it on the 360, looks more of the same
Star Fox 64 3D (if there is still any ounce of care for this series) Love this game, a childhood cIassic but played it way to much by now.

I bought the Zelda 25 anniversary edition last week...with Zelda...it is soooo sexy...

Its very funny when somenoe (Atarikid) only looks at a number and doesn't think about what it means. When it is said that that number is the highest it has been for any console in Austrailia...that doesn't mean it is a low number does it? It is much lower than other countries but it is a much smaller country with a smaller amount of people who would be buying the system. I want to see you laugh at the Vita's sales in Australia just because they are lower than everywhere else also.

ALso, I think your comment was more against the country than it was Nintendo

im pretty sure he knows that but he wants the vita let him get the vita i dont really see the point of arguing with these people anymore
