Yes. However, it's loss leading. A hit on the hardware is acceptable if Nintendo can recoup on software sales. Given the insane sales of Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and Monster Hunter Tri G, I think Nintendo is fairly happy. That, plus the fact that more 3DS's sold=more potential for software sales. True enough.
Yeah, if Nintendo is making say -20 bucks on every 3DS sold, then I think Nintendo is more than happy to take the lump and get the sales up since it means software sales will go through the roof....
Now, if Nintendo say, makes -100 bucks on every 3DS sold....That's another matter entirely! :)
