MGS looks great, almost close to the ps2.

well remember that they have to render the game twice to get the 3D effect so we dont know how powerful the 3DS really is unless someone makes a 2D only game or we get the tech specs xD

I'm sorry- did the meaning of the word "amazing" change since I left the US? I didn't realize it now meant, "marginally better, at best."
The difference is PS2 ---> GCN graphics. Yes, the 3DS is probably stronger, but not significantly so.
I hope the 3DS doesn't go the "PSP route" now that Nintendo has decided to power up their handheld.
GreySeal9
I doubt it.. Plus its sticking with the carts so no load times which was half the reason why so many psp games just felt so.. i dunno. Not handheld like

That's encouraging (I agree that load times are one of the main culprits behind the PSP feeling unappealing). At the moment, I'm playing alot of DS in addition to playing on my PS3 because it feels pretty unique so I'd be really dissapointed if they did take the PSP approach. But I guess Nintendo knows what they're doing as they've always dominated in the handheld arena.
The Gamecube has significantly better graphics than the PS2, wash your eyes.Peace Walker

People who claim the 3DS graphics are equal to or better than the PS2 version should try watching the PS2 game on a 3.5" screen first...
[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]What would be the PSP route? Console quality games on a handheld? The GBA did that, as well as a lot of DS games. I thought nintendo fans didn't want console games on their handheld. :PI hope the 3DS doesn't go the "PSP route" now that Nintendo has decided to power up their handheld.

Not console quality, but rather console parroting.
I never really got into the GBA, but the DS feels radically different from what I get when playing my PS3. Ninja Gaiden DS is a good example of this.
Of course there will be some examples of console-like games on the DS, but by and large it feels like a unique experience.

Like they do with the 360 and PS3? I mean its just a DS with an analogue stick, more power and 3D isn't it?

Yeah, when you're just looking for something to keep you occupied for a few minutes the last thing you want to do is stare at a load screen for a fair portion of that time.

You are comparing an extremey early demo of a game for a system not available until next year to a full release game for a system that has had a few years to get its capabilities tested. AND even still it looks quite a bit better.Peace Walker

I heard Animal Crossing on the 3DS looked better than the Wii version.

I don't know why but that made me laugh really loud.
I wonder what kind of visuals the 3DS could pump out if it didn't have to render 3d  MGS3D looks f'in great, wonder if they'll be able to get some AA in there cause it could really use some lol.

So the 3DS performs marginally better ( I think that's an understatement) at release than the psp does at it's peak. Considering the psp is somewhere between the ps1 and the ps2 in terms of power, that signifies great things for the 3DS.

It looks a lot better, take a look at the details, there kind of hard to point out but their there.
the 3DS is as strong or maybe better than the Gamecube, and the gamecube was the strongest system in terms of visuals last gen.
The reason why it never showed was because the disks for the gamecube were smaller and could only hold so much.
The games for the 3DS are nearly in a demo state, give the developers time to actually achieve some great games, give or take a good 3-4 months.

Actually I think it will ok. The PSP's problem was that I could play most it's games better on the PS2 or PS3. Sure, it's not the exact same GoW game, but there's much better GoW games on the consoles.
With the 3DS, sure I could play LoZ: OoT on the Wii, but it won't be in 3D!

This,
And nothing beats playing the greatest game on earth anywhere with upped visuals and in 3D.
Its not "amazing" but it is slightly better. Although Im sure the next PSP will have better graphics than the 3DS, I bet the 3DS will have better battery life. The DS has an amazing battery life so I would rather have Nintendo sacrifice graphics for battery.

But this leads to the question of, when Nintendo is planning their next major hardcore Zelda, Mario, Metroid title - how does it determine whether it would be better suited for the Wii or the 3DS? There's a thin line separating the two now... differentiated mostly by their control schemes. Is it better to get motion controls and big screen output on the Wii, or 3D capability - providing an enhanced sense of depth - and portability?I have a feeling this may also hurt third party development on the Wii. Most so-called hardcore third parties didn't like making games for the Wii anyway, and will probably just concentrate on 360/PS3/3DS games instead. There may end up being a certain degree of portability between the two, 3DS and Wii, from third parties -- kinda like we saw on the PSP and PS2.

Pfffffft You guys are so fake. Ow it's a nintendo platform let's say it looks bad.
If You had eyes then You would notice the characters have like twice as much detail, and it does 3D and the textures look 3D, and light looks better. It's not a marginal improvement from PSP to 3DS it is in console terms like 3/4th the improvement from PS2 to PS3.

AFAIK no one said that, IMO the problem(complaints) with PSP is most of its games doesn't have that handheld feeling to them, that's why whenever I want to take a break from home console games I personally prefer playing with my DS more than my PSP, because DS games are different and offer a different experience. I just hope 3DS games will give the same experience(or better) but with better graphics :P

Have I missed something? How was the gamecube the most powerful system last gen? Is this the general consensus here?
