A new Pikmin mobile game is in the works from Pokémon Go developer Niantic.

Nintendo and Niantic today announced they will work together on multiple new projects, the first of which will be a mobile AR Pikmin experience due to release in 2021.

"The app will include gameplay activities to encourage walking and make walking more delightful," Niantic exec Kei Kawai said. "This will be the first title created by our Tokyo Studio since it was established in April 2018."

Lol.. I'm kind of interested in this game, because I already enjoy walking, so this would keep things interesting, but then again, don't want to get hit by a car while chasing a Yellow Pikmin around 😄

Thoughts, SW? You pumped for another Nintendo and Niantic colloboration?

That's... ...actually a good fit.

But of course, it's gonna be free-to-play with Gacha loot boxes nonsense, so I'm still going to avoid it like a plague boil infected with HIV.

This sounds like another good business deal on Nintendo's end. It should help expand the Pikmin franchise since there are way more cell phones out in the wild then there are Switch consoles. Niantic are a very talented group of Developers and I have no doubt they will make a fantastic application. However at the end of the day I'm going to just stick with the Switch. I'm not really that big into the mobile games industry like that but like I said this seems to be another good business deal on Nintendo's end.

I'm pretty disgusted by these news. Pikmin fans deserve so much more than Nintendo gives them.

More fad from Nintendo. Who needs to announce and release new games when you can survive on fads

Pretty cool and not surprising at all given Pokémon Go’s success. I am intrigued by a Pikmin AR game.

I like the prospect of AR more than VR, but Pikmin was one of those franchises I just never could get into.
