Nintendo announced DSi revision: called DSi LL; November release; 3 new colors

Good morning!

This is to let everyone know that Nintendo has formally announced the rumored DSi revision with the larger screens. It will be called DSi LL and will be released in November in Japan. It will be released in three new colors: Dark Brown, Wine Red, and Natural White. More information will be found on the link below.

:lol: This one is directed toward really old people, as in, it's only bigger because they can't see the small things on the screen. The resolution most likeley won't be changed so the image will be stretched.

I agree. The way this is going, there won't be another generation of handhelds since they are constantly upgraded in such a small manner that the frontiers simply fade away. This will only confuse the consumer and perhaps even annoy developers too.

I learned from Kotaku.com that "LL" is the Japanese equivalent of "XL" -- extra large.

At least the Wii has stayed true to itself. Consoles are meant to be simple plug-and-play entertainment systems but if a consumer has to do extensive research to find out what the major and minor differences are between these identical looking systems, they will be put off. I hope the market does not become saturated with this crap.

The fact that millions bought the PS3 Slim, shows that revisions of consoles drive up sales. Expect the same thing if the Wii or Xbox 360 have a revision.

We have to blame ourselves for allowing the console makers to make more revisions because we are the ones who buy them. The only way to stop them for releasing more revisions is not buy them.

The PS3 Slim also came with a major price drop and if the Xbox 360 really were to get a hardware revision, people would flock to it since it may finally be the end to all the reliability problems its predecessor had.

It's not just harddrives in the PS3's case. What about the lack of backwards compatibility in the newer units? That was a major annoyance for some.

Eww, it's so....bulky, and those curved corners do not sit well with me. Also, and most importantly, I got my DSi not a half year ago, and it's perfect for whatever handheld needs I have. Will most certainly NOT be picking this latest iteration up.

I was slightly interested in this until I saw its size relative to the current DSi. That thing is a whopper of a "handheld" and certainly does not look very pocket friendly. I'll pass.

or the DSi was and is their new handheld. Come on you really think they're going to not ship really good first party DSi exlclusive retail games next year? DSiware already has 10 A/AA/AAA on metacritic, you think Nintendo will let the two DSi only store games, Monster Finder and System Flaw, carry the console?

Plz. They will and are developing something like a Nintendogs 2, Brain Age 3, New Super Mario 3D, Mario Kart DSi to push DSi XL units next year in stores. It would be dumb not to.

what do you expect? Apple has sold 50 million iPhones/iPod Touchs in two years. 50 million potential customers for mobile game developers like GameLoft, etc. You see Wolfenstien, Doom, for the iPhone but not for the DS/PSP.

Nintendo is trying to compete with Apple. I've played great games like Rolando on my iPod, its not the biggest threat yet, but Nintendo would be dumb if they weren't preparing themselves to take them on (after Apple says their own iPod is competiting with the DS/PSP)

However, DSi is the only DSi people need this new gen, this new generation of DSi only downloadable and retail games.

What you are saying sounds ironic in the sense that nobody would have really expected Nintendo's biggest competitor to not be Sony or Microsoft, but Apple.
