Listen before i start i own a wii to stop fanboys from yelling "OMG U DONT EVEN HAVE A WII U LEMMING." no i own one, and i enjoy it however compared to the 360 i touch it once in a while.

When the wii was first announced i was excited a new controller, virtual console, dvd (at the time), and finally online. Like the Ds the wii started off slow in features especially with online, but i was also excited how there, or i thought, was going to be one friend code which was the wii system code. i didn't mind adding in one person's number if it meant i didn't have to do it for all the games, but then....

It was released and there was no voice chat at all. which really ruined online for me, and, in addition, i had the money i was ready to spend it on virtual console but then there was no announcement of a hard drive so after downloading two n64 games im running out of memory.

Now its 2008 2 years after launch and they're just getting ready to release voice chat, but still the online is a joke compared to psn/xbl there haven't been games that have the replayability like cod4/ halo 3 have done for me (like i said the online is bad) and there still is no hard drive. Not to mention that there are way too many add ons to the wiimote, the nunchuk, the wheell, etc (which cost way too much).

Ok i liked the idea of the wii motion plus and i like how Nintendo started with the concept of the wii but it failed for me, there is no online community, the ports are terrible (really not nintendo's fault, but they should've improved the wii's hardware tbh), and e3 just made it even worse for me. Finally i want to say the wii still has time but for me my patience is running thin, i like nintendo's games (oot=soo good) but if they can't get it right with the wii then next gen they can upp the hardware and create a great online community.

Sadly, I agree, the bad online is one of the biggest problems the Wii has.

It's not like next generation they're actually downgrading the graphics back to N64 era. I think I heard that next generation they would abandon the expanded audience. Presumably because by that time they should all be hardcore gamers thanks to Nintendo.

I hope they would, but as long as both of Nintendo's product keep printing money, I don't think much is going to change next gen:(

Online, online, online.

Not to say it isn't important... It just isn't a deal breaker for me. I really don;t care as I much rather play games with people, not online.

And what exactly will Nintendo do to turn these causal gamers into hardcore gamers? Every expanded audience game Nintendo releases is more casual every time.

They will just have to realize in their own time that Carnival Games is not the pinnacle of gaming. ;)

Most casuals ARE aware that there are way better games out there. They just dont care for those games.

Nintendo will release games like Mario Kart, or Animal Crossing that start to blur the boundry between harcore and casual. Once those hooks are sunk, they just reel them in.

Nintendo will makes the system has powerful has can be well also keeping the system as cheap has they can well still making money.

I don't see it being any more powerful than what the 360 is now and at that point you will have the 720 which will be even more powerful.

Yeah the Wii is def. a hit or a miss kind of a console. I feel like it needs a lot of fixing. I agree with what you said about the Wii having poor online and too many accessories. I have so much white plastic in my room, I'm getting tired of all these add-ons. Sucky part is that I'm still not done collecting white plastic parts. I expect to buy the Nyko Perfect shot, as soon as a good lighgun compatable game comes out, the new motion sensor thingy that comes with Wii Sports Resort, and the Wii speak.

I could use a game like Halo as an example of something which can make people into hardcore gamers. If you think about everything Halo did differently, then it's all about simplification and casualization of the first person shooter genre, to make it easily accessible and therefore popular.
