[QUOTE="AwakenedMaster"][QUOTE="Dibdibdobdobo"] [QUOTE="locopatho"]Definately agree. Nintendo make tons of games every year, in many genres, but all people say is "Lol no FPS! Nintendo sucks!". To the best developer in the world. Ugh. Sickening.Dibdibdobdobo
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.... No other FPS had such quality gameplay , Superb boss battles, intresting new ideas. Intresting puzzles... Every other FPS has been stuck in the mold of golden eye since the N64 while Retro Studio's broke the mold, Made a new one and claimed FPS genre as its Skanky dieseased HO. Every other FPS these days are based more around online mode while there Single player sucks! I'm glad Retro never added online.
None of the Prime games are really shooters. They're adventure games in first person.
And the gameplay - especially the shooting is not as good as you're trying to make it sound. They're good adventure games with some interesting ideas (and lots of scanning), not solid shooters.
I'm actually glad they didn't add online multiplayer either, considering it was never good offline in the Prime games.
I'm a tad biased against the Prime games, since I loved the side scroller Metroids - I hated where they went with the Prime games. But even my brother who loves them agrees that they aren't shooters.
It still a FPS if you subtracted the puzzles and exploration. Like i said in my post above which i think you missed saying "mix of FPS, Action, Adventure,Puzzle with as much exploration as the others" Its not your average joe FPS as of the likes of Halo, Perfect Dark, MoH its a whole new way of seeing how FPS can be done! Overall its in a FIRST PERSON view and you SHOOT! Its like saying Fable is not a RPG as its not turn based like FF series.
Yes the shooting is as good as im working on out! Sorry but its probaly better than words can put it! I was in rapture while playing the MP series and number 3 took me to the next stage! Perfect mix of FPS, Exploration, Puzzles with superb bosses and memorable characters.
I enjoyed the 2-D side scrollers aswell.
Yeah, I missed that post, I was in the process of replying to your post when I had something else to do - so the reply page was sitting there for like a half hour. xD I probably missed another post by now.
Although, if you took away the puzzles and exploration, it would be a pretty bad game... The shooting elements are just average at best, and everyone I know with the Prime games - if they like them or not - agrees. It shows new ways adventure games can be done, not FPS. But whatever.
But speaking of Metroid make me want to fire up the ol' SNES for some Super Metroid! =O Gotta go.
