There is no such thing as a hardcore gamer! What is so hard to understand about that? A gamer is a gamer. It is possible to like shooters AND Mario games, yes I know shocking for you "hardcore" gamers. There is no such thing as a hardcore game either. What you think is "hardcore" could be "casual" to someone else. It doesn't matter if your "hardcore" or not,if you like the classic franchises that built gaming as we know it,buy a Wii.

randomwiiplayer

There is such thing as a "hardcore" gamer, and they do play shooters. Not first person shooters, but real shooters. Like Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, Contra, Lords of Thunder, Mega Turrican, Galatic Attack, Space Harrier, Darius Gaiden and Super Metroid. Mario games are also hardcore (gameplay over graphics people).

A "casual" gamer is the type that buys Madden every year, or thinks Call of Duty is a "hardcore shooter" (it's a great game, but definitely not that). A non-gamer (which is what the Wii caters to) just plays games like Chicken Shoot or Carnival Games here and there.

"hardcore" gamers (who ever the hell they are)...try and convince nintendo as to why they should really give a crap what you think. clearly you havent given a crap about their output for a long long time (long before the wii came out).

Quake's designers have created Deathmatch environments that reward skill rather than luck, and are filled with nooks and crannies and other lovely places to hide while you wait for the unwitting opponent to stroll by.

Let's put it this way.

Every system available has games worth playing on it.

For the Wii you could get games like Little King's Story, and perhaps the Dawn of Discovery game that recently came out that scored an 8.5 I believe. Those would probably interest you. Also, a WiiWare game called Swords and Soldiers (I believe) is an RTS-esque game, but played on a 2D field. There's a few other strategy games on the Wii I can't think of.

Then you've got Metroid Prime as a first person game. Though it's really the only one worth getting atm there is the entire trilogy coming soon (if you never bought Metroid Prime 1 or 2), and Red Steel in the future may be good.

For action you've got No More Heroes out now, Metroid Other M on the horizon (looks kick ass), MadWorld, and Murumasa is also coming someday soon.

Then alongside all of these you can play the highest rated game this gen Super Mario Galaxy, and also get some games such as Super Smash Bros Brawl (kicks ass), Okami (Everyone who plays this loves it), Zack and Wiki, Punch-Out, Mario Kart Wii, RE4, Super Paper Mario, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Upcoming games that look good. Metroid Other M, Boy and His Blob, Murumasa, Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, Dragon Quest X, and Tower of Shadow.

And don't forget all the WiiWare, and Virtual Console games. There's a few hundreds I believe. Some of the best games of all time are found in there.

I'm also considering getting a Wii, but I think I'll wait till those upcoming games come out.

[QUOTE="AHUGECAT"]

[QUOTE="dotWithShoes"]Now let me do what you did, since its obvious you're not gonna see what I'm saying. What hardcore game did Nintendo make for the GameCube?dotWithShoes

There were a lot of hardcore games for the GameCube, which was their focus - games such as Eternal Darkness, Ikaruga, Resident Evil 4, Tales of Symphonia, Pikmin, Viewtiful Joe, etc. etc. Not all these were made by Nintendo but Nintendo made sure these games were known and the focus of the system. Mad World and The Conduit together didn't even sell half a million units and if you add in No More Hereos still not even 1 million. Why? Because the Wii focuses on 2 demographics - non-gamers/casuals and Nintendo fans. Even then Nintendo focuses more on the non-gamers than Nintendo fans (Q4 2008 proved this).

Pretty sure the Wii has had RE4, a Tales game, Pikmin(with 3 being made now) and amazingly can play that remake of Ikaruga, can play Eternal Darkness. Nintendo also made the second highest rated gamer ever, in Super Mario Galaxy. Released a game from almost every MAJOR franchise they have. Mario, Zelda, Metroid. etc etc.. But yeah, they have forgotten about the hardcore haven't they? Add in teh VC, with plenty of classic core games.. but they have forgotten the core gamers. Can play every GameCube game.. but yeah, they've forgoteen and betrayed em.

Nintendo doesn't care about hardcore gamers. They will give the Nintendo fans their Mario, Zelda, Metroid and whatever, but other than that they found a new lover - casuals.

Sony is very sad that their lover has left them for Nintendo. Casual gamers supported Sony hardcore last two gens. But then again, they supported Nintendo the previous gens. iI believe however, that Nintendo tar]gets all gamers.. just doesn't focus mainly on the elitists who label themselves in the gaming community. What makes you think Nintendo doesn't care about hardcore gamers?

That's BS. I just got a Wii and SMG, LoZTP, NMH, and the game nobody bought but it's a blast, Madworld. Now I'm not saying there is a lot to play here, but I still want to get Metroid trilogy as well. It is a good console.

Nah. Non-gamers also play rock band, guitar hero, and LEGO games. I still think that a gamer is a gamer and a game is a game(excluding shovelware, those are not games).

Yeah but no one listens to you either so what's your point? That your allowed to paint a picture that Nintendo is still the same old great publisher/developer that everyone grew up with and loves, but I'm not allowed to say that the direction Nintendo has taken themselves and part of the industry is considered a joke and a bane by most real game enthusiasts. I have never even seen a valid argument for all of the Nintendo defense I have seen in relation to this strategy of theirs, seems its just pure fanboy logic at its worst that somehow what Nintendo has done is good for anyone but Nintendo. Btw no matter how much what I post bothers you I am allowed to an opinion just as you are.

You're certainly allowed to have your opinions but saying "To any real self-respecting gamer the Wii is a joke." is just flamebait and put out there to annoy other posters. Can you prove you're more of a gamer than someone like me who owns a Wii? Have you ever played any Wii games?

You never post any argument against. When you step up your posting game you will see better answers. If you're just gonna call it a joke and run don't expect us to take you seriously.

So a new Mario, Zelda, 2 Metroid games, already Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Wario game, SSBB and Mario Kart is what Nintendo gives for their new loves. Sign me up

If your a hardcore gamer, you own every system

ArcticWolf77

Yeah.. what he said.

Seriously, I've been gaming even longer than you... since the mid-late 80s, when I first played the original Leisure Suit Larry on PC. I have all three (and PSP, DS lite and DSi) and the Wii is a different beast from the 360/PS3. LKS is awesome. MP trilogy is coming out (if you've never played any of the MP games). SMG 2, New SMB and others are coming out. Sports Resort is awesome to play with friends (would not play it alone though). No, the Wii doesn't have hardcore shooters or even lengthy epic RPGs but that's what the 360/PS3 are for. The Wii is great for spending time with family and friends and playing different type of games. And I haven't even scratched the VC yet.

Going by your post TC, your either a hardcore gamer because you enjoy games with blood n guns that don't take skills on 360 along with PC RTSs that actually take skill to manage units, or just a gamer because the Wii lacks those kinds of hardcore games you want(or hardly have them compared to the other systems).

Even Twilight Princess had blood in it, LOL. Sounds like you shouldn't get a Wii then.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Punch-Out convinces me that the Wii is worth getting. And the legacy of games for the VC. Dragon Quest X, Monster Hunter 3, and Metroid Other M are hopeful as well.

With as many games on the Wii that I adore, Dragon Quest X is, alone, enough reason to buy a Wii. If Enix(thw Square) does a decent job on it, makes it look as good as possible(Monster Hunter Tri good), it'll blow away any ps3/360 RPG(yeah, I'm looking at you FF13)
