Does it do well?
Outsell TLOU? Take the 4th spot on metacritic?
What are the design sensibilities? And is it a bad game or a great game?
Nintendo makes video games. TLOU is a semi-interactive movie. Sega probably would have made one during the FMV game days.
Have you even seen the animations of any Nintendo made title? Do they even know how to do facial animations and lips syncing? My best guess is that Nintendo is approximately 15 years away from being able to achieve The Last Of Us 1 quality. Lets not even mention TLOU2 because they might not approach that level of production quality in the current century.
@hardwenzen: Actually, Sony is 15 years away from achieving BotW like game. Just look at Horizon vs BotW. Sony makes all looks no substance. Sony games are gimmicks.
Go build a house in Animal Crossing.
It's going to be like Luigi's mansion with Mario being the protagonist and takes place in an apocalyptic setting.
@hardwenzen: Here you go bro. This for all to see what a joke Sony game design is. Nothing but gimmicks.
Look at those WiiU visuals. We're in 2022 btw

Facial animations. Lip syncing. Production quality. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were describing an animated movie, not a video game. But I do know better, and I know you’re talking about animated movies instead of video games. It’s just funny to me you think you’re insulting Nintendo and bigging up PlayStation with this…
@goldenelementxl: exactly...those kind of games aren't nintendos style. They would do an fps game like halo before they make a movie game like tlou. Actually scratch that, they invented the fps genre on consoles with golden eye. But movie games?? Xbox has a higher chance of making a movie game than Nintendo does. And Xbox gamers generally don't like movie games either.

He is the same person who ignores all of these attributes for Elden Ring.
-cel shaded or cartoony
-some gameplay feature or power boost lacked behind an overpriced toy
-questionable narrative dialogue
-possibly two versions of the same game with simple data locks
-it will sell millions

Did you play the game? Did you at least watch any reviews of the game? If you're complaining about TLOU2 not having enough GAMEPLAY, you know nothing about the game. That's like bitchin' about Death Stranding cinematics while also ignoring shitload of gameplay that's on offer. Yes, i know, its hard for some to accept that, but SOME games, are able to have both🤷♂️On the other hand, no matter how hard Nintendo tries, they're incapable of even the simplest of things. That's why you're still collecting mushrooms 30 years later. It is what it is😊
@hardwenzen: Did you seriously pick the definitive walking simulator, Death Stranding as your next example of PS gameplay?!?! Cutscenes and walking…
And I‘ve played all these games. Only finished the first TLOU though, admittedly. I don’t like playing games that waste my time.

I took it as an example because everyone is crying about Kojima games being movies. High production cutscenes with a lot of gameplay doesn't make it an interactive movie. You might like its gameplay or not, its not important (i don't like Death Stranding). Its not an interactive movie. A David Cage "game" is an intereractive movie.
Gaming as a whole is nothing else but a waste of time. You having no time for a perfectly executed cutscene is you not having time for games.
It's rated T for Teen, instead of the world being infected with a zombie fungus it's a virus that makes people sad and cry all the time so it's up to the hero and their adorable pet sidekicks to work to make rainbows that cure the infected world of their ailments and bring smiles to billions, as it will say so on the box... then Amazon sues them over "the delivering smiles to millions" line is theirs and their too similar.
@goldenelementxl: I'm ashamed to say that I actually enjoy movie games. I've beaten the entire uncharted series main line of course 1 through 4. I've even beaten tlou1 but couldn't get through tlou2. I will say this about uncharted. Although it's a huge movie game in every way, the fight scenes are great, the exploring is also great. You have to really think about it, and use weapons and environment to your advantage before you engage in a fight.
Anyways, I could never see nintendo pull something like that off. It's just not in their genes. I could even imagine some poor developer pitching his tlou movie game idea to nintendo board only to get laughed out of the room

This is what NFT's do to you. You're playing something that even i, an award winning cow- hate. Do you not understand how severe your condition is?
@hardwenzen: I've been playing uncharted before crypto even existed. I don't even know how you can love tlou and hate on uncharted, that makes absolutely no sense. Tlou game assets, the engine, literally everything from tlou was a straight copy and paste from uncharted. Did you never see the resemblance between Joel and Nathan drake? They could be siblings. In fact, when I first played tlou1, I was a bit confused when I saw Joel, but then I realized the game was made by the same developers of uncharted.
Even game mechanics wise, tlou is literally uncharted but with much less ammo.
Anyways, yes I'm embarrassed to admit it, that I have a soft spot for some movie games.
I dont think it would attract people who like TLOU anyway. It wouldnt have the production values.
I haven't played either TLOU games so i can only go off the brief segments i have seen in fairness. but Nintendo could look to use a lighter version of BOTW for the survival elements and puzzles, combined with MGS style stealth.
Stealth in games is not something nintendo usually do (i can only recall a brief part in Wind Waker). It's hard to get right and make enjoyable. But it could be interesting.
How well would it do? Hard to say. I think if they tried to present something in the real world using realistic characters and tried to, basically, out Sony Sony on what they do well, i think it would fall flat on its face.
But a new, more survival focused, IP with some interesting ideas set in a very different type of setting (but taking some inspiration from TLOU)....could be interesting.
@SolidGame_basic:
Not even. It's just a brainstorm, tbh.
Nintendo is widely recognized as the console publisher who prioritizes pinnacle game design.
They came in with Splatoon, turning multiplayer tp arena shooters on their heads.
Nothing else like it, anywhere on the market.
I'm curious as to what them tackling other popular trends would look like.
Sony is known for glossy game production, not design.
Hence why Nintendo games tend to do laps around Sony's in sales. The game aspect feeds the starving masses.
Your username is ironic, considering your publisher loyalties...
Meh, the "movie game" remark does not even make any sense. I can understand calling a David Cage title such as Heavy Rain a movie game as the entire game is a interactive movie, but calling something like Horizon or The Last of Us a movie is silly as there is a ton of gameplay between cut scenes which are not even that long.
@robbie23:
It really just means games that don't prioritize analog interactions.
Horizon is a beautiful lush world but it's functionally dead to the players outside of combat bouts.
Uncharted is a beautiful world but again, interactions are developer controlled for the most part, outside of shooting areas.
Tlou I can't speak on.
The Last of Zelda
In the future, Hyrule becomes an apocalyptic wasteland infested with zombies. Link has to protect Princess Zelda, on a journey through the zombie wasteland.
Gameplay would be like Breath of the Wild, but with an open world filled with zombies. Dungeons could incorporate elements of Ico, with Zelda following around Link and helping him with puzzles.

TLOU is serious and realistic. Uncharted is like something made by Disney... no thanks. Not to mention that the constant wall climbing in UC is incredibly shitty gameplay.

lol..in every thread you come into and praise tlou as the greatest game in existance, you really have no gaming taste. At least tlou1 was decent, tlou2 was a clown show all around.
Well Nintendo has never made a videogame as good The Last of Us (technically no one except Kojima has anyway) so would not really matter.
Nintendo fans so desperate they are fantasizing about Nintendo versions of Sony games😆
I said it before, but any developer that pitched a tlou movie game idea to the nintendo board would be laughed out. And it wouldn't be the regular type of laugh, it would be slapping the table, choking on spit and tears kind of laughs.

well I fixed it for you, but neither nintendo or microsoft has made movie games as good as sony has. It makes sense because sony is heavily involved with movies in general. And heck they do a terrific job with the scripts for the spiderman movie series, so its expected that experience with story lines would translate into video games.

You showed him alright.
TLoU is the only title that made me shed a tear. That scripted, interactive cutscene was beautiful.
You mean the giraffes were able to survive in this world?!

exactly haha. To be honest though, I did cry one time for a nintendo movie, when the original pokemon movie launched way back when and pikachu and all the other pokemon were dieing. I couldn't hold back the tears damn it. That was the one and only nintendo movie I saw...scratch that, they made the awful awful mario bros movie back in the 90s which I also watched. Nintendo doesn't know storylines if it hit them in the face. They have that in common with microsoft.
