Alright for those who hate to read this is going to be a lengthy post.

Now I've owned every Nintendo console since the SNES (excluding Wii) and a GBA and a DS.

I loved my SNES, N64 and the first 4 years of my Gamecube. Resident Evil 4 came out and I loved it so much. I thought the game was refreshing, unique, and mature. The following month (Feb 05) I bought Star Fox Assault hoping to be amazed. I played it for two hours, hated it, and didn't play my Gamecube again.

Let's start at looking at Nintendo's great titles in the N64 and Gamecube Era.

In the N64 era, Rare brought out new IPs and new stories which included Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie, Blast Corps, and Diddy Kong Racing. It brought Donkey Kong and Killer Instinct into the 3D world and also released Banjo Tooie and Goldeneye.

In the Gamecube era, Nintendo had a great partnership with Silicon Knights. SK created one of the greatest games on the Gamecube, Eternal Darkness, and recreated one of the PS1's greatest games ever, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes.

Camelot created the great RPG series Golden Sun. Instead of utilizing Camelot to make more unique RPGs with new stories and new characters, Nintendo rather them make rehashes of Mario sports games.

Retro Studios showed great potential after making one of the most critically acclaimed Gamecube games, Metroid Prime. But since then Nintendo has kept them making Metroid games instead of branching out and making new games with great stories.

Its not unknown that Nintendo has made hundreds of millions with the success of the DS (which is very nifty) and the Wii. Now you think with this comfortable lead Nintendo would be doing something. You have Sony that is trying to suck in gamers with a lot of new IPs even though some have been unnsuccessful. You have Lair, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Resistance, Motorstorm and Uncharted that have all been released in one year. Gamers want new IPs, look at how well Bioshock and Assassin's Creed did. On the other side you have Microsoft also trying to suck in gamers. They are buying exclusives just to have exclusive games on their system. Exclusives are what matters and Microsoft is trying to make sure 360 owners don't miss any of the best games.

Now Sony and Microsoft were losing money off their systems and are in 2nd and 3rd respectively but they are trying. Nintendo has made hundreds of millions and have not done anything with their money. They haven't got any exclusives besides No More Heroes and Tales of Symphonia 2. Oh wait...I forgot the other 2 million dollar sellers Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids. All I want to know is where is this money going and what is Nintendo going to do with it?

Going back to risks. Nintendo has not made any really. Sure most Nintendo fanboys will defend the motion converter to death but Ill get to that in a bit. Now like I said previously Sony has released tons of new IPs and Microsoft is as well (Gears of War, Shadowrun (well kindof), Crackdown, Kameo, Viva Pinata, Scene it, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey). Before you judge the 360, thats one third person shooter, 1 first person shooter, 1 sandbox , 1 action adventure, 2 family, and 3 RPG games. Microsoft is delivering exclusive games in all genres. Now getting back to Nintendo...what new IPs have they brought out since the Gamecube. The only one in my eyes is Pikmin and Warioware. Animal Crossing was released on the N64 (the golden age of Nintendo) in Japan so it doesn't really count. So in 6 years Nintendo has made 2 new franchises. And no, Wii Fit/Sports/Play does not count as a franchise. Again, with all this money pouring in what is Nintendo doing. I find it completely pathetic that Nintendo, known for their innovation, has not made new IPs. And Im going to say this, Nintendo has to put Mario in the title for games to sell - Mario Party and Super Mario Galaxy to name two. Galaxy, obviously a solid game in most peoples eyes, does not look like a Mario game. Instead of making a new IP, Nintendo wanted to keep selling out and make it one.

Now looking at the press conferance this year, Nintendo has completely failed. From Mario Kart (released in April - which is a complete rehash) to Animal Crossing (November), Nintendo will not have any games directed to the hardcore crowd. And thats being generous because MK and AC aren't hardcore games at all. Even if Nintendo announces a new Zelda, Mario, or Metroid game soon, I won't understand how people could be interested in them. These 3 franchises have been used to death. There is nothing unique about them. Ganon and Bowser are the badguys. Peach and Zelda need rescuing. Mario and Link need to save the day. Stale.

I always laughed at Nintendo for their "innovation" speeches. They always (and still) think that they are better than Microsoft or Sony because they 'innovate'. Nintendo may make some stride in the gaming world but then it uses it to death and takes seven steps backwards. Wii Sports 2: Beach Edition? Come on.

Nintendo has become a joke and I know my post is all over the place but I can't understand Nintendo fanboys at all when PS3 and 360 owners are getting so many great games.

But I know none of this matters because all that matters to Nintendo is money.

And to all the core gamers owning a Wii. How does it feel that you stuck with Nintendo and now they are turning around, giving you the finger, and giving Wii Fit to your mom and Nintendogs for your sister?

Oh come on, there's tons of awesome games coming to Wii. The big N can't do everything by themselves.

Also, the motion plus is going to be insane.

What I mean is yes its a platformer but it could have been its own unique series. Galaxy had so much going for it that it didn't need Mario to be the star. It could have had a new character with a new story.

Same can be said about Sony or Microsoft. They didnt show Alan Wake, Bungies new title, new Twisted Metal, New Ico project, etc etc YET they also have TONS of games coming out this year while Wii only has Animal Crossing. That is the difference.

Nintendo may have made great games for Gamecube and Nintendo 64, but you know and I know that they didn't sell any consoles. When Nintendo decided to change the rules, they became #1. Now, you may be a sheep. You may not. Doesn't make a difference. But, if you were a sheep, or any sort of Nintendo fanboy, I ask you this: would you like Nintendo to make good games that nobody plays, or would you like Nintendo to be #1?

Right now it doesn't matter what Nintendo does. They've won the generation so they can start making these hardcore games. Thing is they won't because they'll ride the same Mario, Link, and Wii *Insert game here* train to the bank.

You're exactly right. Why? Because Nintendo doesn't care about "winning a generation". They are a publicly-traded corporation that cares about bank and making sure that they keep us smiling, according to Cammie D. Nintendo's "hardcore" games don't sell. No Fire Emblem game released internationally has ever sold more than 600,000, while no Pokemon game released internationally has ever sold fewer than 700,000. Metroid Prime 3 didn't sell. Pikmin barely sold a milli worldwide. Star Fox doesn't sell. Battalion Wars didn't sell. You want me to continue? Even the "hardcore" would want those (Mario, Zelda) games too - I remember reading around the internet just last night and seeing how nuts people were going about there being new Zelda and Mario games in the works. You seem to as well, based on the big picture of Link you have there.

Yea, we definitely have had some great gaming from Nintendo so far. It's what's to come that looks kind of bleak.

Obviously Zelda is being worked on, but with no trailer its probably 2 years away. And I don't see any great hardcore Nintendo games from now until then to tide me over.

Nintendo I dont think is a joke but they could start making better games for the Wii.

The ds was a big hit and still is so i think the ds will help nintendo live on althought its hard to beat the ps3 and 360.

The awesome games have already been released for the Wii.Right now Nintendo needs to get off their high horse stop making crappy games that have Wii *something* in the title and dish out games that people want to pay for and play.

Nintendo is indeed a joke. Outside of the occasional first party blockbuster (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, SSB), the Wii has almost nothing worth spending money on. Animal Crossing is a fine game, but when it's the highlight of your holiday season, something is very, very wrong.

maybe if you stop focusing only on wii's first party and focus on what third parties have to offer, then you would know theres more games than just what nintendo has to offer. oh and animal crossing isnt the only thing nintendo has for this year.

Well it would be nice to see a new Zelda or maybe something a little darker and original and 1st party. BUT...Lets make it clear...NINTENDO has won this gen. Its fact. Do they deserve to win?...Sure they do. They have been in the game for years and years and have brought many a smile to many people, and that's what its about.

Im all for some different slightly hardcore M+ games for NIN, but they dont want to go that way. Its up to them in the end.

Nintendo is in the lead making money and because of that they don't feel they should bring anything new or better since they are cashing in on what they have already. They don't need to make an effort.

The underdogs usually try harder to compete (Xbox and PSP), but they're not always the best (Saturn and Dreamcast). I do think Sony and Microsoft are better.

The Wii was already starting to suck before E3. The problem is that E3 didn't change that at all. We've seen the upcoming lineup, and it still sucks.

If by "joke", you mean the "market leader", then you're right. :| There are plenty of outstanding titles on the Wii. Only haters focus on the bad titles (and, btw, every system in history has had more bad games then good).

And, just so you're aware, I'm Wii60 - and will probably eventually pick up a PS3 (also a PC gamer). But thanks for assuming I was a sheep without knowing anything about me. That makes perfect sense.

Sure it has great games, but I could probably count them on one hand. It doesn't help that Animal Crossing is your premier holiday blockbuster.

Nintendo is actually becoming such a HUGE joke they've actually made more money this generation than either of the other two companies. Nintendo has made money in every single Wii sold. They began selling the Wii for more than it cost to make. On the other hand both Ms and Sony began selling their consoles for a loss (making it up in both games and addons later.) I would much rather own stocks in Nintendo than MS's gaming division or Sony's gaming division at this moment (if they were purchased before this generation started.) merely because I would have made so much more money.

Wow, Auroni at least supported his statement with several well thought out paragraphs backing his opinion. You just spewed you're biased fanboy filth.

So sue me. That's what you people have turned me into.

OH my goodness:lol::lol::lol: this made me laugh so hard.

It was a joke. He later apologised for falsely accusing me.

[QUOTE="Erkidu"]If by "joke", you mean the "market leader", then you're right. :| There are plenty of outstanding titles on the Wii. Only haters focus on the bad titles (and, btw, every system in history has had more bad games then good).Gamer556

brave stance sheep, especially after ravi and that soccer mom demonstarted nintendos grasp of waht apeals to gamers, do you only own a wii? because if so, you have my sympathy....

Are you suggesting that the Wii doesn't have some amazing games? Because, if you are, then you also have my sympathy...

Well, quality is subjective. I, for one, think there are plenty of outstanding titles on the Wii. And I never said I was happy with Nintendo's E3 outing and their announcements for the rest of 2008. I was very disappointed with their conference - but I know that the big first-party titles will come eventually.

I agree with you. Most sheep won't, for obvious reasons.

I've owned every Nintendo since the NES. I've owned most of their portables too. I also own a 360 and PS3. Yet I still don't see Nintendo as a joke. You talk about Nintendon staying safe with Mario, Zelda, and Metroid? The whole Wii was a risk. Nintendo has abandoned the hard core gamers? If I remeber correctly it was the core gamers yelling at Nintendo to provide them with voice chat. It was the core gamers that were yelling at them for 1:1 controls. Its the core that wants better storage and Nintendo is looking into that too. It is also the core gamers that yell at them every time a high profile game they show off in advance gets delayed.

Nintendo said before E3 even started that they would would be only talking about games that would be released this year. AC may not be the most of the core were wanting. But a good deal of the core wanted info on the next AC game. As for Microsoft providing new IPs no. Thats manly coming from second and third parties not Microsoft. While Sony is trying some new IPs they are still betting on GOW,MGS,FF, and Kingdom Hearts when it comes out.

No Wii exclusives? What about Mad World,Deadly Creatures, Star wars:Clone wars, and The Conduit aren't they exclusives?

I think those exclusives are nothing special. The wii does only have 5 good games. Thats it. Most of their titles are shovelware and other pointless mini games. They have no sport Titles. They have no Shooters. No RPG's. No third party games after 2 years. Horrible Online. Why don't you just admit this? It's been 2 whole years and the Wii has basically played all its consumers. We were all hyped but it failed.
