Nobody's sure how many 360s have been sold.  We're only certain that MS will have shipped 12 million by mid-summer.

So give or take a million sitting on store shelves, and it's not a bad guess to assume that 11 million will be sitting in peoples homes by mid-summer.

Actually, NPD gets sales from vendors on how many they sold, like, people walking out of their stores, the only franchise that doesn't report their sales is Wal-Mart.

New rules apply to a new generation.

The Xbox 360 is a machine that benefits greatly from a high definition setup and a main selling point is it's online community, requiring high speed internet access.

While the Wii may be online it's in it's infancy. And well, you really don't need an HDTV to get the full potential of the system.

 My point is, NPD released that MS had sold 10.4 million consoles back at the beginning of the year, which means, those sales were as accurate as they could possibly be.

Weaker systems have outsold the most technically impressive systems for the last few gens now. I hardly call that a surprise, since the DS and ps2 won their respective generations.

To retailers was about 6 months ago.  It shipped 10.4 to retailers in December 2006.  VGChartz is way off for one they are going by NPD numbers which haven't even been released for April yet.  It's odd they keep updating Wii though and not the 360.  360 easily shipped an addition million just by releasing the Elite.

Except VGchartz uses NPD, Media create, famitsu, Chart Track etc. to help insure the accuracy of their data

VGcharts have long been proven highly inaccurate. Hell at Neogaf, you can be BANNED for using these numbers in your posts. I wish a similar practise was followed here.

VgChartz ar eso wrong it's not even funny. I've been following the sale numbers for a while, and the funny thing is,

even though the 360 sells more than the ps3, the numbers go DOWN ! Hm, isn't that a little bid odd ? 3 weeks ago it said 9,74mil..
