NIntendo has finally sold out.

Anyone go to E3? you may have heard about how bad it was. Such as developers pulling out. However nothing compares to Nintendo's performance. First They had Shaun WHite (or Shawn i dunno) come out and announce a snowboarding game. THen they announced a cook book game for the DS... a real cookbook. Later they announced Wii Music where you just swing the nunchuck and such around to make noise... just noise.

FIrst off- NO one goes to a nintendo seminar to hear about those kinds of games. People that go to E3 are active "hardcore" (don't like that word) gamers meaning they want to hear about the next metroid, mario, or zelda game as well as other great triple AAA titles.

Second- WTF?!?!?! Nintendo has more dedicated fans than any other company EVER. People actually cry when they announce the new mario/zelda game. So why not show anything like that? Those titles will come out eventually but not soon it seems.

The point is Nintendo has finally gone over to making money rather than making quality esque games (good games will come out on wii but mostly third party). They switched over to selling to middle-aged housewives (Some might be gamers just a example) which is sad because of the following that they have.

There is a difference between more games and more quality games.

Not to mention all the great 360/PS3 multiplats.

Yes, hardcore gamers attended E3. Hardcore gamers attend every big videogame convention.

But the mainstream media also pays attention to e3 and it was them that nintendo was talking to because it was the only time that nintendo could talk to them.

And don't worry, ninty ismaking mario2 zelda2 pikmin3 and o so much more.

But ninty is also expanding the market getting your grandma into gameing and so then oneday your grandma will be a hardcore gamer as too.

Simply because the core demographic of the console is not the core gamer, rather - yes - casuals.

That realy is the (be it sad) truth with the Wii.

I've been gaming all year long :|

I haven't missed a day - nor have I been at any shortage of games - rather the back library and upcoming quality titles (not counting any filler - hell I don't even consider Fable 2 to be worth my time, the bar is set high for my needs) for my PC, 360, and DS have been by far and away enough.

Of course, adding a PSP and PS3 to the mix will only make the situation worse next year - even just skimming the creme I wind up with a full plate.

Problem is on the Wii core games like LoZ:TP and Mario Galaxy dont make nearly as much profit than other games on the system.

Simply because the core demographic of the console is not the core gamer, rather - yes - casuals.

That realy is the (be it sad) truth with the Wii.

Sure they have, I remember getting a gem in Burnout in Jan, DMC4 in Feb, RSV2, Condemned 2 and MLB 08 The Show in Mar, GTAIV and GT5P andf Echochrome in Apr, Haze in May (haha jk), MGS4 in June, Civ Rev and SCIV in July, and Bionic Commando and R&C QFB so far, with Mercs 2 on the way for Aug.

Even tho those arent all exclusive don't try to say Sony or MS hasnt given us games. And all the games I listed are 7.5 or above.

It doesn't matter how well the Wii will sell, core gamers are vastly outnumbered, and even though titles like the above are fantastic, to a company like Nintendo it seems these are there to keep the core gamers focused on the system, while the massive earners are much more casual orientated titles with extremely low development costs, and high profit margins due to a huge audience to sell them off too.

It doesn't matter how well the Wii will sell, core gamers are vastly outnumbered, and even though titles like the above are fantastic, to a company like Nintendo it seems these are there to keep the core gamers focused on the system, while the massive earners are much more casual orientated titles with extremely low development costs, and high profit margins due to a huge audience to sell them off too.

Potentially, but it doesn't seem as if any of those super budget titles are hitting the million figures. You may make a bigger profit if you keep dev costs low, but it's really not going to account to anything if people aren't buying it.

What AntiType is alluding to is that the best selling stand alone Wii games are those titles such as SMG and LoZ: TP. Most if not all the "hardcore" games are in the upper quartile of the best sellers list.
