And the sky is blue.

TC is correct. I've owned all 3 consoles, I can admit that Nintendo produces high quality content. The gameplay is better implemented that other games on "other" consoles.
They couldn't come up with a coherent story or even interesting dialogs if their lives depended on it. Of course there's only gameplay to talk about when everything else completely sucks. I recently tried playing Windwaker HD again but I just can't stomach the game treating me like a toddler.
> Never heard of Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Metroid, or fucking Kid Icarus.
WW is better plotwise than most vidya gaems. Come at me.
Fire Emblem's story has always been shit. Two kingdoms at war, some pussy little prince who has to discover himself, and a rag tag group of friends, outcasts, and blah blah that come together because family is more than blood or some shit. Throw in jrpg drivel attempts at things like racism, or when they really want to try hard and bring in existentialism.
Metroid's lore is good, any plot it has ever told is stupid. Other M and Metroid Fusion are a fucking fan fiction with the way they are written, not surprising, the fiction wasn't what Metroid great in the first place, Nintendo doesn't seem grasp that. Didn't play enough of Kid Icarus because playing it blew chunks, and I don't hate myself enough to sit through Xenoblade.
Not going to completely write off the plot of Wind Waker, but being better than most video games is because most video games have bad stories. Wind Waker still isn't good.
Bro, I didn't exactly say they were good either. Just addressing the point where so many people believe that Mario/Zelda is all Nintendo has, therefore no story in their games.

That sounds a lot like Game of Thrones.

Muahahaha.
"Must another battlefield run red with blow and sorrow?"
"Nya ha! That's what battlefields are for! Otherwise wed call them "boringfields.""
More Nintendo fanboy bullshit. The other consoles have games with great gameplay too but your fanboyism blinds you.
@quadknight:
Sony and Microsoft are still trying to catch up to sega and nintendo from over 20 years ago. It's actually rather sad that Little Big Planet plays like an old Atari 2600 game.

There was an Atari 2600 game like Little Big Planet? What was it called?
I fail to see what all the controversy is about. If you asked me who has the best graphics, I'd say the PS4. It's just about as logical as it's gonna get. Sure nintendo has some games with shiny graphics , but that's not the point. PS4 also has games with good gameplay. So does the X-Box. There's nothing controversial in saying gameplay is superb on Nintendo consoles.
What about Mad Max, Batman, Battlefield 4, GTAV, Mortal Combat X, MGSV... The list goes on for PC of which has games that have great gameplay. Nintendo isnt the only console that has great gameplay because those are games are also on PS4.
Probably, they are after all the best developers of all time producing the most classics by far. Couldn't imagine them funding something like Until Dawn. But honestly I'm not in that camp that freaks the **** out at games like that because I'm not a ****.
@Salt_The_Fries:
Nintendo is the only company for many generations now that providing some awesome AAA caliber games here and there BUT AT THE SAME TIME it let down everyone way too early into individual generations. Systems getting into life support way sooner than supposed to and dying way faster than anyone else letting fans .... moving on to other platforms , waiting to play something etc ...
So gameplay or not .... I prefer to have plenty games to choose from each and every year constantly than having a spike of great gameplay games here and there in 3 years span ... then have nothing , literally nothing , to play with when all the others .. getting title after title after title , 1st and 3rd party.
Thats why im renting Nintendo consoles plus a specific game i like and problem solved. I dont want dust collectors in my house. Let alone i wont spend 500$ for a console with such short life span just to play 2-3 great games i like. Thatll never happen.
So keep that kind of gameplay you speaking of which is about 2-3 games max and ill take the huge amount of games other platforms offering.
The sheep running to Wii-Us defense hilarious.
This thread is such BS and the TC knows it.
2-3 months or so the same nintendo wannabe fanboy will post xyz reasons why the console is in last place and BS remedies to said issues that often relate to the gameplay the sheep in here are now praising.
Skyward Sword was broken, horrible controls between bomb rolling and swimming
The Controls weren't Broken. The Actual game was. Nintendo had to upload a separate channel for Wii in order to patch the game so you can actually play it. (It was a Save Glitch that Killed your Game. It was rare, but common enough for Nintendo to actually do something about it.)
@Salt_The_Fries: They haven't forgotten the gameplay but they definitely seem to have forgotten innovation and any sort of new experience in terms of story and franchises.
Every new game that comes out just looks like something I've already played a million times. Mario and Zelda are some of the best games ever made for good reason but I am bored of them. I've already been there and played them. Not only once but in many different forms and across several console generations.
Nintendo are stuck in the 90s. That is their problem. That might have worked reasonably well in the 00s but now it is growing old.
They need to keep their focus on gameplay but give us a fresh experience at the same time.
Yes arguably Nintendo has smacked down the nail on its head when it comes to platform games just absolutely brilliant, Super Mario (obviously) Donkey Kong etc the list can go on and on...
The thing with Nintendo in my opinion is that they more or less repackage the same games every generation it's always the same thing not to say they produce crap games because most Nintendo franchises packs alot o fun, but seeing the same game released generation after generation gets abit boring for me.
What I would like to see from Nintendo is more third party relationships to bring more versatile games to there system.. Also a better on-line services like Ps+ or xbox live.
I think they all recognize the importance of gameplay otherwise they wouldn't be in the video game industry.

Game of Thrones sucks.
As a pc gamer I really view Nintendo as the only unique console experience any more (now whether you feel that experience is good isn't what I am arguing for here).. Don't get me wrong though, there is a ton you can be critical on Nintendo, but they at least feel like they still have a identity.. Xbox and PlayStation brands this gen really feel like closed pc's instead of actual consoles.. The majority of games they offer are either multiplat, or are exclusives to games that there are a ton of alternative similar games to on the pc or other system.. It didn't feel that way half way through last gen, and definitely not the gen before that..
One of the largest gripes I had about being a pc gamer is the fact I never saw fighting games for instance.. And I always felt obligated to purchase a playstation during the gen to enjoy the fighting game genre for instance.. Now? Literally once consolcentric genres have been releasing on the pc, and we are seeing series that never released on the pc going whole sale as a superior port to boot.. Add in the fact that things like local multiplayer has been dwindling dramatically from what I have seen on Xbox/Playstation.. And for me this is the first gen I felt as a pc gamer that I am honestly not missing out on ANYTHING by owning only a pc and a Nintendo handheld.. I couldn't say that last gen or the gen before..
To me the Xbox and PlayStation feel like entry level closed system pc's instead of actual exclusive experiences that I would be missing out on as a pc gamer..
