Nintendo is going to be #1 this gen!

Did you see on CNN a few days ago about a Bowling league of old people playing Wii-bowling? They said it's good exercise for old people. So I don't see the PS3 catching the Wiithis gen if Nintendo is going after people over 50.

Exactly! This is how PS3 users feel too. As long as they get UC2, GOW 3, GT5, Heavy Rain, Demon's Soul along with great multiplats such as Assasian's Creed 2, Batman, Ninjga Gaiden, FF 13, etc I dont think they care what position of sales PS3 is in.

I think I am going to buy a Wii next year though. I think it does have something to offer for hardcore gamers. ;)

They got the Hardcores, the Casual, and opened up a market to the NONGamers!:o

All that's left to talk about is games...

Nintendo has opened new markets, and re-opened old markets.

I know plenty of people who have come back to gaming through the Wii, having grown tired of the typical FPS and third person fair on the mainstream consoles.

It's the only console of this era I would own.

But then I have a PC for the other stuff. Even then I don't play much apart from l4d Versus on the PC. Traditional FPS's have lost their fun compared to competing against real people in a story structure as l4d offers.

If all FPS' played like l4d however ...

The Wii has won the sales this gen, however that doesn't change the fact that I don't find the console interesting or worth it. Gaming on PC, Xbox 360, & PS3 has been way better for me than anything Nintendo has had to offer this gen.

Perhaps people would care more about the Wii's 1st place position in sales if they were actually targeting an audience SW gamers cared about.

The OP is actually boasting about popularity among the elderly, I'm sure everyone is jealous their system doesn't account for that audience...

Out of 3 of them, 1 is a puzzle game and expires its 1 year release period in a day or two.

2 more are multiplatform, 1 a music game, another a sports game.

That's the best the Wii had to offer for the pass 1 year....

How bout checking out hte 360 and ps3 section. You need a lesson about what kind of games a console SHOULD have.

I know the TC is using something like older people having Wii bowling tournaments as something laughable about the Wii, the other systems can't claim to be marketable to anything much beyond the 13-35 demographic.

Wii created a console that appealed to more, is releasing more kind of gaming, some of lower quality of course, but they are still selling. Nintendo still releases their core franchises, creates new IPs and still sells very well. Sounds like a bunch of 1st place to me.

Girlfriends like playing on the Wii. Be it SMG, De Blob, Rabbids TV, Brawl, or Dead Space Extraction. Okay not the last one, but my ex would have enjoyed it.

that only happens because wii:

1) cheap from the get go

2)parents buy it for their children to have fun with them

3)It's 4-all friendly(say 4 because I never seen a 3 and down play)

4)the whole motion crap got people curious

Gaming on the PC and HD consoles has been "way better" for you? Define "way better."

I game on a gaming rig, too, and my Wii sees at least equal playtime, if not more. That said, it does appeal to a particular slice of gamerdom, so I can totally understand why you may not particularly like it - most traditional gamers do not - but "way better?" Have you played all that many games on it?
