So with the latest sales figures in and Wii having won the month of January and in position to win February in North America, along with outselling the PS3 3-1 in Japan do you guys think that Nintendo can keep this up.  Does anyone believe that Nintendo might actually win this generation?  Or do you think that the 360 and PS3 will eventually pass it in sales in the coming month/months?

Nah, the Wii has a nice chance of winning in sales, not only this month, but the entire year. :)

I think that the WIi will win in sales, providing you do not count the DS as competition.

At the moment the only thing that can slow Nintendo is Nintendo, the only reason they haven't sold more Wiis and DS's is due to constrained supply, the demand is off the charts

If the prices for the consoles stay as they are, Nintendo has a clear shot at number 1.

I think Wii will end up selling the most.. But the PS3 will get close later on. I just don't believe that the 100 million or so people that bought PS2 will just jump over to Wii. But it'll only get close.

Dude, stop hating on the Wii, there is no real reason to.The Wii has one AAA game according to Gamespot, but anyone with half a brain wouldn't pay much attention to reviews, let alone one editors opinion on Gamespot.

now all you need is quality games. go ahead and keep on waiting. price is important. i probably couldn't afford the ps3 and have any use for it for the same price i can enjoy my wii.

As a Wii owner I'm pleased they're selling systems but after Zelda, where's the killer apps?  Aside from the VC there's nothing out there now that I consider a must buy.  At this point the Wii is taking a back seat to my 360 just like the N64 did to the PS1.

Like any new console, there will be droughts. Look at where the Xbox 360 was at this time last year, and where it's at now. It's gotten so much better, I think the Wii will follow suit.

Truth. But Wii does have Zelda and it does have an already wicked library on the VC so it beats the pants off PS3 which has...Blu Ray movies?

I like the 360 best, but I beleive the Wii will eventually pass it in sales. Not the PS3 though, it's just too expensive for most people.

I have to say I am with you on that one. I will be pickup up Sonic tomorrow "wait it 12:42 that will be today" but I really want Mario Party and some RPGs to come out.

Yes I love playing Mario Party.

Have you tried Elebits or Excite Truck? Disregarding the "killer app" status (an overused buzzword anyways), I can vouch for these games as both very fun and very difficult. Sonic and the Secret Rings looks promising, and soon enough we'll have SSX Blur and Super Paper Mario. Then the "big three:" Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Factor in games like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (online non-MMO co-op RPG? yes please), Disaster: Day of Crisis, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Dragon Quest Swords, No More Heroes, and possibly the next Kirby title, and I'm not terribly worried that my Wii won't go unused (zing!)

Consumers are faithful to what's good, brand loyalty is all but dead. With the internet making it easy to locate product reviews and news articles it is easier than ever for consumers to trust in previously unknown companies.

I'm hoping Metroid Prime 3 comes out soon, that game has been delayed a few times already. I'm speculating Super Mario Galaxy won't be released until the holidays, which sucks but it will probably help move more Wii's this holiday season.

Ok since we know that the majority of the gaming population is casual (like 90%?).  What do you guys think the casuals are going to buy.  Do you think its going to be the overwhelming majority to the wii becuase of its price or do you think its going to split between the systems maybe more going to the wii?

I agree. Aside from Zelda there's nothing there. (And I bought Zelda for cube.) The only game that's coming out soon that I'm looking foward to is Super Paper Mario. Cause who knows when Smash Bros. and Metroid are coming out. Those games like Wario-Ware and Trauma Center do nothing for me. It really makes you see how great the Cube's start was. You had Star Wars Rogue Leader II, Pikmin, Super Monkey Ball, Smash Bros., and Lugui's Mansion. That's 2 killer apps. and 3 AA games. A lot better than what were getting from the wii.

First: you listed Super Monkey Ball for GC. There's an AA Super Monkey Ball on the Wii. Next: you mention Pikmin. If you want a quirky title (although a different genre), Elebits is wonderful. Smash Bros. wasn't a launch game, although it was within a "launch window" if you will. What's bad about waiting for Brawl when it will have infinite replay value with online? Luigi's Mansion was OK, but not really a killer app by any means.

Zelda (AAA quality to the rest of the world)
Wario
Wii Sports (it sells systems)

Super monkey ball
Trauma Center
Madden 07
Rayman

That's more killer apps and AA's then what you said the GC brought us and it's only been a couple months.

I've read too many bad reviews on Elebits and Super Monkey Ball : Banana Blitz to consider spending money on it. I did say "Cube's start". Not launch. But nevertheless, Smash Bros. came out less then a month after the system itself. I've got no problems waiting for Brawl. Just I want something good on the Wii to hold my interest until then. I still stand by what I said. The Cube's launch was way better than Wii's. And I know Luigi's Mansion wasn't a killer app. The 2 killer apps I was referring too were Rogue Leader and Smash Bros. Hell...in my opinion, Star Wars Rogue Leader is the best launch title ever made. But that's just me.

I acknowledge Zelda being good in my post. It's great...I know. Wii Sports is a demo. I bought Madden 07' in August for the Gamecube. Mini-games like Wario:Ware and Rayman do nothing for me. The killer apps. and AAA's I listed for Gamecube came out in less than 1 month after the system. That's more than what were getting on the Wii now..3 months after it's release.

I don't know what you're driving at though. Rayman is rated higher across the board than Elebits (even though I thought Rayman was very mediocre), but in another post you say it's "not your kind of thing." I'm not recommending you buy Elebits - I was discouraged from buying it after reading the reviews as well. My friend bought it though, and God I had an absolute blast.

[QUOTE="SmashBrosLegend"][QUOTE="chisoxrule"]As a Wii owner I'm pleased they're selling systems but after Zelda, where's the killer apps? Aside from the VC there's nothing out there now that I consider a must buy. At this point the Wii is taking a back seat to my 360 just like the N64 did to the PS1.Dead_Menn
Sonic Super Paper Mario SSX Blur Mario Party 8 Pokemon Battle Revolution Super Smash Bros Brawl Disaster: Day of Crisis All of those are expected before Q4.

lol why do sheep hype games like "sonic" or "SSX Blur" or LOL "Pokemon Battle Revolution" COMON even cows have a better 2007 lineup

No, not really.

I think Wii will end up selling the most.. But the PS3 will get close later on. I just don't believe that the 100 million or so people that bought PS2 will just jump over to Wii. But it'll only get close. redban2
I think they will if they're just casuals. Wii is the casual system of choice for this gen. PS3 is too pricey and 360 has the same intimidating controller. Nintendo read the market like a book. But number 1? I think that title will belong to MS.

the funny thing is, the wii doesnt really need a killer app to sell it. the wii is, in itself, a killer app. the wii and its free tech demo of a game BY THEMSELVES have probably sold more of the console than any other game in the wii library.

They hype Sonic because it scored the highest of the next-gen sonic titles. They don't really hype SSX blur. They hype Pokemon because it has sweet graphics.

most of those 100 million are casuals

is there a point in that statement somewhere or do you just like trying to argue and failing?

Simple, most of those 100 million aren't concerned about system loyalty

Zelda (AAA quality to the rest of the world)
Wario
Wii Sports (it sells systems)

Super monkey ball
Trauma Center
Madden 07
Rayman

That's more killer apps and AA's then what you said the GC brought us and it's only been a couple months.

Since when was this about your preference? I listed more Wii AAs and killer appss then you did GC ones and only one was not launch (wario). Who cares if you like them or buy them. The fact is that they are top titles and have been selling. Wii players already have many great games to pick from, even if they don't appeal to you.

You responded to a post that was about my personal preference.. But if you wanna go by critical acclaim only...the Cube still wins. Here are the AA and killer apps on Cube's launch: Wave Race: Blue Storm, Pikmin Star Wars Rogue leader Smash Bros Super Monkey Ball Luigi Mansion Madden Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (This is actually AAA to tell the truth) Look at the scores those games got if you don't believe their all AA or higher. And ALL of them came out at launch. The Cube's launch>>>>> Wii's launch
