You need to really figure out your life if companies that don't care about you are upsetting you this much.

I hate how Nintendo holds the Tech in their HW design back so they can sell you a $150 device for $300.
"For the Nintendo Switch, that cost is estimated to be $257. As VentureBeat explains, the $257 total comes courtesy of Japanese teardown company Formalhaut Techno Solutions. The Joy-Cons alone cost $45 to make, whereas the touch screen, Tegra SoC, and dock combined total There is a reason why Nintendo has survived all of their competition over the years. And it's not like a $43 margin is huge in the electronics world. Selling at a loss is bad business. There is a reason Atari, Panosonic, Sega, SNK (twice) the Vita and many others have failed. It's not because the products were bad in some cases. They were too expensive to produce for the market they were selling in. And making up the cost in software sales is risky.
$167"
If Nintendo listened to these graphic whores they'd be out of business.
And I think time and time again it shows that most people don't care about graphics. Otherwise why is BR such a hit, with its terrible graphics. Why is candy crush so big, with its basic graphics.

@jackamomo: And you? Someone who's stuck in the past probably above the age 30 still has some sort of hatred to a company? That's more childish than buying Nintendo games.
Not my problem their games sell better than Sega's IP to kids. Also, Pokemon still a $90 Billion dollar franchise, they could have gone with Sega and maybe Sega's fortune would have been a big turn around? But they made the right move sticking to Nintendo.
That is 90bill to date.
Last year Sega's profit overall was down 67.8% on the previous year at $81mill in profit.
Nintendo earned Y178bill / $1.6bill in profit that same year.
But Sega can't compete with 10mill Mario odyssey and 9mill of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe adn 6mill Splatoons sold.
Just sad for me, those aren't games I want to play.
The Switch boosted Nintendos' profits by 500% from the previous year so that revenue will fall off.
But you can't say Nintendo don't research new products, they spend Y483+mill a year on researching new software and Y450mill on Mario products alone, then Y365mill on Pokemon R&D.
So expect Pokemon, Mario and other game products in equal measure in the coming years. Or possibly more Pokemon product, seeing as a former Pokemon CEO is now Nintendo CEO.

Nintendo are also sitting on £20mill. But probably in Japanese money instead, so what they have is purchasing power and longevity as tools to survive this most cut throat and competitive of businesses.

The Nvidia Shield Portable is very similar HW to the Switch and sold for $199 during the Switch's launch.
I'm not buying that a Switch cost Nintendo $257. I'm thinking under $200 plus the cost of the dock. So $200 tops. That 6 inch 720P screen cost them a couple of Peanuts. There are $100 Tablets with larger 1080P screens.
@EG101: You know those joy-con controllers aren’t free right? It’s all there in my post. The Switch tablet is estimated at $167. Each joy-con costs $45 according to that articles sources estimate. $167 + $90 is $257. And I’ve checked multiple sources that confirm that Nintendo does actually sell the controllers at a loss. ($79.99 msrp)
Nintn Nintendo won the console wars up until a certain point... but rather than concede we invented like 400 extra innings... and even now it's somewhat close in os some ways.
I think all the American c fans should play by the a same rules and maybe if they admit defeat in the first 300-400 games or whatever it's been... the door can be open to talking about console improvements
in a serious way.
