They are definitely wearing the crown this gen. But your claim can be pretty easily disputed seeing as they sat in the back seat for the past two gens.

Still, I'm not sure the Wii is going to die out as easily as so many ppl think. The PS2 was a pretty casual console and maintained the crown last gen. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Either way, the Wii still has the least amount of games I'd want to play this gen.

i dont mind games that look kiddy ,as long as theyre fun .i dont need to be playing an fps or gta to make me feel macho or any other realistic looking games w/ blood.as far as i know the gamespot staff is also with me on this one cuz the titles for other platforms that came out in 2007 have blood and violence on it but super mario galaxy still managed to top them

Furthermore, Sony dominated Nintendo for 10 years. Making Nintendo only survive on the DS. Also, where is the Wii's third party games that Sony and the Xbox 360 are getting. What has Nintendo really done next gen? What motion sensing has been done already. Nintendo did not even include the Wii to play movies, music CDs, or voice chat. To tie this whole argument in what new franchise has Nintendo created besides regurgitated characters with some upgraded graphics.

Gears of War yes, Mario Galaxy no. I'd rather kill aliens in a detrioated world instead of exploring outer space to meet them. Besides I'd prefer to be in a world that is more realistic instead of ones filled with ridiculous things such as talking mushrooms, being able to shoot fire out of your hand, giant flowers that eat people, astronauts and rocketships, bricks that are living and can move, and other made up kiddy crap.

Besides the fact Sony was in works with Nintendo to create a CD system for the 64 but that plan fell through shortly after playstation came out. As for 3rd party support, Sales = support .. Wii = sells .. Heck we can see Nintendo is gaining a lot of support SE for example, Most likely more to come.

I think the success Nintendo has now is based on casual numbers. You're not seeing the success in the number of AAA or AA games or in sales. Only in hardware. That's not undisputed king of anything.

The Wii library is probably filled with the worst shovelware games ever compared to last systems. Gamecube and PS2 didnt even have that much crap, i owned a GC I remember.

For all that experience, they took the bumps and made mistakes and they are not that far ahead of newcomers. Just lucky and playing it safe with cheap price and casual market.I remember at the Toyko Game Show they barely showed any Metroid Corruption demos, zero news on Smash Bros, a couple TVs for SMG,but had like 10 TVs devoted to Wii Sports. Nintendo is roping the cattle in big time. If Sony and Microsoft wanted to flex that muscle and rope in the casuals the way Nintendo did, they could easily do it. *yawn* And then Microsoft and Sony would be filled with Shovelware crap and ninjabread man 2.

I don't know but nintendo doesn't make the craptastic games the wii has, and if i remember ninjabreadman and anubis II were on the ps2 before the wii sony is guilty too.

i think only sony can challenge nintendo in this topic ,but when u look @ sony first party games and accomplishments like gran turismo it pales in comparison w/ nintendo's first party titles in terms of hardware sold sony can definately be in the argument since ps1 and ps2 are both 100 million unit sellers
