Thirded. Just don't let Sakomoto write the goddamn story.

I give him a break for three reasons:

1) He is Japanese, thus has different cultural heritage.

2) He is not a famed spoken narrative-weaver (nobody at Nintendo is).

3) He is a Metroid fanboy and loves the series so much and thinks it's his baby.

I don't agree that the story is terribad, but it isn't as good as it could be.

I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be, but I think he should maybe have some help.

I have never understood this argument(not just for Sakamoto, but japanese videogame writers period). Like Mayazaki and Akira Kurosawa weren't excellent for Japanese dudes, they were excellent period.

Him being Japanese has nothing to do with the story in metroid games(more specifically in this case Other M), being out right poor. It just sucked on several levels. Poorly written, not told very well, not acted very well, and does a poor job of presenting plausible character behavior. It also doesn't help that like your typical videogame it almost goes out of its way to not acknowledge that the videogame game part exists and in theory is part of the plot.
