Down the road it is the software that speaks for the console. It is ironic that 3DS was sort of in the same boat when it first launched. Fast forward to today and it is, imo, the best game device out there right now. Nintendo can turn things around.

How many PlayStation fans would even care about Mario as long as Ratchet and Clank and LittleBIG are still around? How many of other console owners would even care about Smash when the other fighting games are still around? How would they compare to even the big third parties (Activision, Capcom, Ubisoft, Bethesda, EA) that have an audience on those systems? Not many, and this comes from someone who games on multiple systems (360, PS2, and on occasion, PC). Heck, look at even the sales charts of each system.

I see they still dont really have a clue on how to sell asynchroness gameplay. Which is fine I suppose, but for me its what got me excited for wii u.

It's hard for a gaming-only company to compete with Sony and Microsoft, they have 3 options imo.
1.Try and replicate Wii success (This is the Wii U)
2.Make a cheap console (200 dollars max)
3.Go third party
There are huge Pro's and huge Con's to this and i think this should obviously only be done as an absolute worst case scenario where they are bleeding money with their hardware.
Pro's
-Dont have to waste time or money on R&D
-Dont have to waste time or money on online networks
-Dont have to waste time or money on operating systems/User interfaces
-Dont have to take losses on hardware
-Dont have to rush out games to fill droughts for struggling hardware
-Nintendo devs get to work on superior hardware
-Nintendo devs get to work on superior online networks
-Focus on games
Cons
-They might go full Square Enix and try to become a mobile publisher, this would be a disaster for EVERYONE (Never go full Square Enix)
-They would probably have to lay off a bunch of people (cant make 5+ Mario games a year anymore....probably)
-They would have to compete with third party games directly
-They couldn't focus on a single platform anymore
-They would have to give Sony/MS license fee's.
-They wouldn't be able to have Wii/DS type profits again.
The con's here are very scary to me.
Well I'm glad they're finally trying to convey this. I've talked to 3 different people who thought it was just a tablet peripheral for the Wii.
Should have named it something else.

He kind of has a point. You can't say for sure how they'd take to being third party, so to say you'd rather they go out of business instead of going multiplatform does come off as a bit fanboyish. I'm not saying they'll thrive as a third party developer, but I'd much rather see them try and fail as opposed to simply going under.

I'm not going that FAR. Knowing Nintendo's history, they can just leave the industry and find another business.
I just feel the risk for them to go third party and fail is too high. So high, they should say "screw it" and leave with a surviving legacy, rather than kill whatever they have left.

What square has to do with Nintendo a god knows. What console gaming has to do with iOS gaming and what major and biggest/best Nintendo exclusives have to do with Square iOS games ?!! I just find it mind fumbling that one would hate a company on unspeakable levels, yet would buy something from that company they hate.
What square has to do with Nintendo a god knows. What console gaming has to do with iOS gaming and what major and biggest/best Nintendo exclusives have to do with Square iOS games ?!! Then you bringing an example about a Star Wars prequel that sucks or why some fans wont find something true to the series therefore they wont buy it....
What the heck you talking about when my point to begin with is that Nintendo might have way better profits by going third party as a console gaming developer/publisher and focus on handheld gaming which N is the undeniable ruler ?! Are my english that bad or what im missing here ?
I was bringing up what I get out of your logic by making a comparison. If I stop supporting Nintendo because I see nothing good coming out of their multiplatform phase, you say I'm not a true Nintendo fan. I brought up the Square Enix/Star Wars situations because they have similar logic among some things they have going on.
Over a year later and people still don't know what a WiiU is. Lol at Nintendo.
This ad will mean nothing if it never makes it to tv. Most people don't go on Nintendo yt channel just to check it out.
Whoever said they should go 3rd party, I'd have to disagree. Nintendo games on a Sony platform don't have the same appeal. Kinda like sega. Nintendo tailors their consoles to their games, not 3rd party or 3rd party machines. Before they went 3rd party they would go handheld only or just bow out. Nintendo is a very prideful company and to put the plumber or Zelda on another console would be to much for them imo.

When have I acted as such? I happen to enjoy all platforms regardless of the manufacturer. Sure I've partaken in the occasional trolling, but it was never more than that. Good attempt though.
