No one is going to buy them at 200 dollars
[QUOTE="Heil68"]I can see why it's Wiiu..YOU will be the only one playing it. :lol:ShuichiChamp24
You do know that's why the "U" is in the name right?
Really? Gee thanks for that insight! My speculation and comment was about only a single (pssstttt IE YOU)user would be playing the system by yourself, because you know ,only one tablet controller. As far as the one tablet to a console thingy, I am concerned about what the standard controllers will be.
ActicEdge
From what I read there is also going to be a more advance wiimote+. It's kinda weird though thinking about it, first time I'm not 100% sure what the standard control will look like.

Thats the point, thats why they arent selling them seperatly...you're only supposed to get one per system. If you have a friend he can bring his over, if not they will have other controlls or just stick with the wii motes.

One person accused me of "damage control" when I said these would cost over $200. "Processing done in the console", "radios are cheap", blah blah. Nah bro, that's a 6 inch LCD screen + motion control + camera, it will cost more than a smartphone.

What if console is 300-400 dollars to replace a broken controller? I would choose the 200 over that.[QUOTE="SRTtoZ"]

What if console is 300-400 dollars to replace a broken controller? I would choose the 200 over that.It would be nitendo shooting them self in the foot. The wiiu is going to be atleast 400 dollars, now if you add a 200 controller. I'm looking at 500 dollars for the console. Now lets face it almost everyone has 2 controllers. So now its a 700 dollar console.

Even if they don't all use the main controller i'm still playing with people. The system is based on you as a player as oppose to the Wii.
when I saw the tablet I thought it would cost a lot to buy a 2nd... But this is even worse. So you expect me to use the wii mote for other people who want to play the system. I was not planing on buying it, but this just sounds like a big fail for nintendo.

You can get a decent PC for that..soooo PC gaming IS cheaper than console gaming..CONFIRMED.So it seems that all the hardcore games will be played on the tablet, but there will still be constant mini game collections coming in every month that will only use the wii-mote. Meaning ill have to pay 250+ dollars for a console that only gets a worth while game maybe once every two months giving that 3rd party devs actually put time in to making the games for the new controller....yep sounds like nintendo *sigh*

That's the thing. They should have showed us it. Right now I think that I can live with 1 tablet but I do think that if they aren't going to have a set in stone standard controller then the console needs to needs to let you have atleast 2 tablets at once.makes sense
the controller will directly use the wii u's GPU remotely for it's display. this will have 2 display outputs - one for the TV screen and the other for the controller. this is why the controller can display almost exactly what is on the TV screen at the same time. adding more controlers will require more display outputs. adding more display outputs will require more from the GPU, and there is no way nintendo can design for this flexibility beforehand (unless they force everybody spend a but load more just to potentially use more controllers).
JB730
actually, i gotta say now that i believe nintendo will be releasing TWO controllers with its console.
why?
a.) the bottleneck that determines how many controllers one can use at the same time is the system's GPU
b.) we know the wii u GPU is made by AMD and based on a Radeon HD GPU.
c.) we know the wii u GPU has multi-display functionality.
d.) AMD/ATI Eyefinity Technology (ie. multidisplay) was introduced with the Radeon 5000 series, and allowed at a minimum 3 display outputs simultaneously.
3 display outputs = two controllers + the tv.
another possibilty is that they could customly downgrade the GPU to support only 2 display outputs, but i don't know the incentive to go out of their way to downgrade the functionality like that. it would probably be easier to go with what works already here.
You break your controller,,,then what? Oh, I dunno replace it or buy the whole dame thing again? Which option sounds better to you? Maybe you want another controller in another room, I could see that being pretty sick..guess not.Why would they sell it seperatly
Mercenary848
the games/demos they showed had one people using the ipad looking thing to get a different view from the rest of the players while they are being chased...if 4 people use the same controller then the game is ruined. Plus i think that's more a positive than a negative, because you save on controllers and more importantly that means you can at least use the classic controller to play regular games like Darksiders 2. I do not see myself playing Battlefield 3 with the screen controller.

none of nintendo's logic makes sense here. I understand that the controllers are extremely expensive, but this new reality makes the WiiU a bizarre console[QUOTE="ShuichiChamp24"]

Maybe, if they do, they will talk more about it there. You're right though, they should have shown it. Ninty, only conference which raises more questions then before the event..
Website reporting it is a sleazy one. Never trust these scum sites, they always spread false information
More likely that he was confirming that the controller is not a console and that you need the controller to use WITH the console.
"You wont be able to buy the controller alone" may mean you can't expect to buy just the controller and play the games.
I'm sure that it will be sold separately, it's too moronic not to and CVG is too unreliable of a site to trust.
Come on, there are too many common sense issues with selling your product without a standalone controller
So if i'm getting this right.
The wiiU
Has better specs of a 360
supports some next gen wii mote
supports some tablet controller
Supposedly does online
I'm calling it now the wiiu will be 499.99
it will sell ok, have crap 3rd party support, and be laughed at in 2 years when the ps4 and xbox720 comes out

Its just poor planning. Because before now I was under the assumption the tablet was the standard controller. If its not then there is a serious problem with the methodology of not telling us about what everyone else would be playing with.

This whole thing reeks of epic fail.
You wonder if Wii was a one-off and Ninty will revert back to old days of being 3rd place.
So now Local Multiplayer is important and a deal braker?
Jeez...the damage control is getting out of hand.

I can see why though. It would be embarrassing to price controllers at $300. This way Ninty sells it as a feature by calling the controller the "focal point" and not design failure.

But the controller has no internal hardware. It's not going to be nearly as expensive as people are saying. Also, on what planet would NINTENDO release a 300 DOLLAR CONTROLLER. It makes no sense.
What if my controller breaks? Yeah, I'm calling BS, you will be able to buy separately.SaltyMeatballsNintendo does sell replacement parts through their web site.

My guess is that if anything, the console will launch with two controllers. The tablet like one and the advance Wiimote+ one, could be bad planning, or maybe it's just words by the site where taken out of context.
I fear that Nintendo has gone from employing cheap gimmicks to compensate for a lack of quality hardware, they are now resorting to expensive gimmicks. The 3DS costs as much as the PSV because of its expensive 3D screen, and now the Wii U controller costs as much as the system itself because of all the tech Nintendo is cramming into it. The reason the DS and Wii were explosive hits was because they were dirt cheap and had a neat gimmick. The 3DS, and now it appears, the Wii U, are a lot more expensive than the casual players want to pay, and the gimmicks aren't exciting enough for them to justify the higher price-- especially since they are already satasfied with the hardware they already own.Timstuff
Yeah, i know man, i'm with you 100% that price tag on WiiU is just crazy i mean...wait, what's the price tag again? oh yea...
