Nintendo Wii about to claim 1st place already???

According to stats from the week ending August 5th, Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold 10.32 million, Nintendo's Wii followed with 10.10 million. They led war between the consoles and the PS3 was languishing with only 4.11 million units sold worldwide.

The site just updated the stats for the past week ending August 11th. The Nintendo Wii scored some major gains and is now breathing down the Xbox 360's neck. New data shows that in a frame of one week, 310,000 Wii's got new owners - Xbox 360 was sold in decent 110.000 units, while PS3 sold only 50,000 units. New numbers keep Xbox 360 in the lead with 10.43 million, Wii is now a close second with 10.41 million and PS3 remains the backmarker with 4.16 million consoles sold.

Since the site will not be updated until next week, Wii has probably already outsold Xbox 360 and now has the lead in the console war. Or it just may happen that Microsoft pulled a miracle and sold 3x more than last week (was Halo 3 released this weekend? No?).

This would give Nintendo a 2:0 ratio in console market, since DS is just shattering the competition in the form of PSP. DS sold in 47.87 million units, while PSP sold "just" 22 and a half million, taking 32% of handheld market.

Don't get me wrong I like the DS, but the PSP isn't doing as bad as fanboys claim it is. 22,5 million for a debut handheld is amazing. It's not like the DS is shattering the psp by as much as the PS2 did to GameCube.

yeah, I think that is the major problem with the PSP. The PSP itself didn't do badly, but they advertised way to much on all it's functions that they forgot that the thing should offer games aswell.

That is why I like the DS (lite). It offers everything a handheld gamer would ever need, I can't wait to see how Nintendo try to improve upon it.

nintendo-4life, didetn say it dosetn have good games. I said i belive, something I hoped people would understand its just my opinion. The thing dont have games for me. Maybe ill get one when Geometry Wars Galaxies get out, but other then that. Thay just arent for me.

I don't think those numbers are accurate, but I do think that Wii will surprass the 360 by sometime in September, and then widen its lead by the end of the year.

You forget that most people that want Halo 3 have 360's and the Wii continues to sell out week after week and the big titles are not even out yet.

Anyway it's a sad day for games. For the first time in a long time the better selling system is the inferior one when it comes to the amount quality and quantity of games. Wii will never have the same amount of AAA's or AA's compared to 360's in it's lifetime, exclusive aside.

well obviously. The PC is a single format that transcends generations (also gamespot underrates all PC games). But i thought that when making a system comparison we go buy AAAE's and if it ends a draw we use AAE's as a fallback.

If a system's library is judged on both AAAE's and AAE's how do we work it out? how many AAE's are equivelant to one AAAE?
