So the Wii isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3, so what? It still is a "next gen" system and is competiting with the more powerful 360 and PS3. All the while slaughtering the competition.-Redwolf-
In sales only. I don't know about you but I prefer games that I can play right now over sales.
now all it needs is some good games. JPOBS
Depends on the gamer. I'm satsified with the titles coming out for it. However for titles that are coming out for PS3/360, ill have a PS3 for those soon.
I agree, I don't even own a Wii, I will be purchasing one this Christmas though. I'm waiting for quite a few games to be released before I buy one.
For example...
Smash Bros.
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart
Dragon Blade
etc..
Right now I own an X-Box 360 and a PS2. I am quite happy with them, but I do want a Wii. I also think it's great that Nintendo is doing so well. I've owned many Nintendo systems over the years, and am happy they will be #1 again.

I hate that console.Nintendo use the same charachters for TWENTY years and expect comsumers to blindly follow them.wait THEY DO!every single person i know who bought a wii sent it back saying it was ****.well ,with the growing number of pensioners and kid gamers these days you can only expect wii sales to rise.have fun playin with gamers who are either half or quaddrouple your age ninty fans.charley_mcd
Every videogame company uses a successful character for years, not just Nintendo. If they are popular and make money that means people want them. I know of many 20 something gamers who own Wii's and have been happy. You are entitled to your opinion though.
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]VGChartz, Nexgenwars know nothing.blackace
Yeah, I still think the 360 is already past 11 million is sales by now.
M$ offcially said they shipped 11.6 last month. Your dollars don't make sense.

I found another article about console sales from Jan-June 2007. It was posted July 24th.
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=14810
Software
The dual success of Nintendo's DS and Wii platforms is quickly beginning to pay dividends in software sales. Nintendo itself published eight of the top 20 games during June 2007. For the first time a third-party Wii title has placed in the top 10, the Wiimote-enhanced Resident Evil 4 from Capcom which ranked #9 on NPD's chart and moved more than 150,000 copies.
More impressively, Nintendo claimed spots #1 through #4 with Mario Party 8, Wii Play, Pokemon Diamond, and Pokemon Pearl. In records running back to June 2004, EA is the only publisher who comes close to Nintendo's feat: in February 2006 four EA Sports titles took spots #2 through #5. (For the curious, the coffee-less version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas took #1 that month.)
June was a good month for Microsoft's Xbox 360. Forza Motorsport 2, which debuted at #6 in May, moved up a spot to #5 and close to sales of half a million copies. Whereas the Wii has proven an excellent platform for Nintendo's properties, the Xbox 360 hosts a wide array of third party titles. Guitar Hero 2 from Activision and The Darkness from 2K Games both ranked in the top 10 while Transformers: The Game (Atari) and DiRT (Codemasters) placed in the bottom half of the top 20.
Sony's hardware did manage one game in the top 10 -- Activision's Guitar Hero 2 -- and four in the top 20, but all were for the aging PlayStation 2. Not a single PSP or PS3 game sold well enough to make the charts. That said, the biggest releases on Sony's newer platforms all came in the last two weeks of the period.

But thats the thing, if a specific console with lower development cost/time required is selling way more then the competition... what's the incentive to develop new games for any other console?
if sales continue like this, 2009 will see the Wii being home to all the blockbuster games.
PS3 will do the same in 2010 I expect. Maybe sooner.Trading_Zoner
what, itll finally break 10mil in 2010? :P

Agreed, I wonder what this means for the next gen consoles? The Wii has proven that you don't need to be an overly priced console with all the bells and whistles to sell and beat the competition.
Its funny, at first all the sheep were jumping around Shouting "TEH SALEZ TEH SALEZ!!!!!!!!111," and now all the lemmings and cows are jumping around shouting "TEH HARCORE DYING TEH HARDCORE DYING!!!!!!!!11111"
The Wii is going to win. Just get over it
When the Wii is number 1, you'll know. Nintendo will be livid about it, even if they don't consider themselves part of the competition.ZeldaMaster32
they will probably wait until they have a 500.000 units advantage over the 360 before they anounce their supremacy
I think microsoft still has 2-4 months in the lead (video game charts is wrong, the 360 sold 11.6 million) they better do something if they want to stay in the lead, like a world wide price drop with GOW free or something like that.
As for me i´m waiting for 2008, waiting for a nice price drop on all consoles in europe, and wait to see which one has better exclusives
I don't see the Wii any more involved in system wars than the pc. They can sell a million more consoles, and its not going to be like the ps2 last gen and get a load of exclusives because of the bigger install base. So ye, even if wii is selling better congrats nintendo but who cares.Monarch117
You couldn't be more wrong.

No, it'll do that by 2008. I'm saying it will surpass 360s overall worldwide sales by 2010 or sooner. That's probably giving MS too much benefit actually.
Maybe by the middle of 2009 actually.

Yeah $50 off the Premium SKU isn't nearly enough.
As for sales charts I'm going with www.vgcharts.org
Type in "Console Sales Charts" in google or yahoo and vgcharts.com is right at the top. I'm not seeing any other current up-to-date console sales chart sites. I can only assume vgcharts is accurate and that the Wii is about to surpass the 360 in sales worldwide.

Yay for pointless anecdotes. You and your friends apparently don't matter then, eh? But, according to you, you guys must be more intelligent than the 10 million people who snapped up Wiis. Well, tell me, what would happen if Nintendo came out next week and said that SMG would be the LAST Mario game ever? Do you think the consumers would stand for it?
MILKING a franchise is what Sony does with Tekken, Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, etc. Releasing 2-3 iterations per console cycle. No major changes. Tell me there are no major changes between SM64 and Super Mario Sunshine. Tell me there are no changes from Super Mario Sunshine to SMG. I'd call you a liar.

Well he is wrong if you like shovelware. If you like BIG blockbuster games from 3rd parties he's right. Because it seems the vast majority of new Wii game announcments are complete garbage.

no, they are not acurate, but they are the closest thing we can find, all i can say for sure is that there are 11.6 million 360´s sold and that the wii will catch up and surpass to that by christmas

They shipped 11.6 million they haven't sold 11.6 million. Again if you have a console sales chart that shows the 360 has sold 11.6 million consoles worldwide I'd like to see it because I can't find it. Reuters reported that Microsoft shipped 11.6 million

PS3 is at 4 mill now more or less. There is no way they are going to sell 6 million units by 2008 when 360 and Nintendo have just as strong if not stronger line-ups for the holiday

I think Ninty's making a big mistake releasing them ALL at once though. Unless they plan future iterations for the Wii. But SSBB, SMG, MP3, ZeldaTP all out before '08?Risky.

I'm sure the site is pretty darn close to being 100% accurate. Again if you have sales charts that say otherwise post it. Otherwise it's speculation and hearsay that Microsoft sold 11.6 million, especially when Reuters reports they only shipped that many. Besides how can vgcharts.com be wrong? It's their job to tally up the total, and with no other sales charts disputing them I can see how they are wrong.

Yes, it's risky, but people complain about lack of titles so here they are. :P
I don't live worldwide, just in USA, and as long as the domination of North America lasts, I will be treated with the best games in the industry that I love. Big_T-Mac
What the hell are you saying? You do realize the reason the 360 won't get FFXIII is because it's doing terribly in Japan, don't you?
