Nintendo Wii now #1

So the Wii isn't as powerful as the 360 or PS3, so what? It still is a "next gen" system and is competiting with the more powerful 360 and PS3. All the while slaughtering the competition.-Redwolf-

I think microsoft still has 2-4 months in the lead (video game charts is wrong, the 360 sold 11.6 million) they better do something if they want to stay in the lead, like a world wide price drop with GOW free or something like that.

As for me i´m waiting for 2008, waiting for a nice price drop on all consoles in europe, and wait to see which one has better exclusives

They shipped 11.6 million they haven't sold 11.6 million. Again if you have a console sales chart that shows the 360 has sold 11.6 million consoles worldwide I'd like to see it because I can't find it. Reuters reported that Microsoft shipped 11.6 million

aaahhh, i didnt think of that, you right, well it the difernce is really aprox 300.000 units, then microsoft only has 1-2 months of leadership, and a 50 dollar price drop is not going to change that

anyway like i said, ill just wait for 2008 until then its PSP and PC for me

The Gamecube sold like 25 million in its entire lifespan, the Wii is going to have 1/2 of that in its first year.

Nintendo did a nice job turning system sales around.

Well he is wrong if you like shovelware. If you like BIG blockbuster games from 3rd parties he's right. Because it seems the vast majority of new Wii game announcments are complete garbage.

Luckily Sheep have Nintendo, they have not stopped making awesome games, in fact I see them making even more thean ever before.

I think Ninty's making a big mistake releasing them ALL at once though. Unless they plan future iterations for the Wii. But SSBB, SMG, MP3, ZeldaTP all out before '08?Risky.

Mario Kart, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Disaster, HAMMER, and Wii Fit in 2008. I'm sure there will be more, but your concerns are quite legitimate at this point in time.

That's your opinion though, many don't feel the games on Wii are "garbage". The current Mario games have gotten good ratings and can be considered AAA. What about Zelda? Metroid? The upcoming Dragon Blade? Yep there are more casual gamers in the world but they seem to like the Wii's games along with the system. As for Nintendo abandoning the hardcore gamers, I don't see how that could be. Hardcore Nintendo games want their Zelda games, Mario, games, Metroid, etc etc.. Nintendo is feeding that appetite.

I think they are aiming at massive 1º party support during the first year to push sales, and then when the Wii becomes the #1 in sales, they must be hoping for third party support to keep the sales while they prepare a second batch of first party support, at least thats what i think

On Topic: The Wii will pass the 360 soon but 360 sales willboost due to Halo 3. And when the 65nm chips come out 360 sales will boost. I myself will be purchasing one. I think the Wii and 360 will be close this holiday.

Big number and the Wii is still sold out! I have not seen once since launch when I bought mine...with MP3 coming out next week and Galazy and SSB on the horizon I don't see the Wii loosing any momentum...
