If Apple or Microsoft buy Nintendo in 2012. Then Nintendo will be dead within the next year. Yes Nintendo may be on the path to bankruptcy. It will take 2 more generations for Nintendo to die. (left to their own devices, if they do not adapt)

I have been skeptical about Nintendo since halfway through the Gamecube era, but thinking that the Wii-U won't even last a year is absurd.

Nintendo has been dead to me for years, but I can admit it still has a place. If I had kids between the ages of 9-14 or so I would be confident that Nintendo products would be suitable for them. The puzzles in Zelda games are easy enough for children, there's never any mature content I'd have to worry about Nintendo games exposing them too, nothing scary or violent.

My source of annoyance with Nintendo is basically my own fault for buying a Wii after I'd already had a Gamecube and should've known what to expect: Nintendo releases a handful of franchises meant for children on each new console and ignores 3rd party games. So unless you just LOVE Mario, Zelda and Metroid... don't buy any new Nintendo systems unless you have kids.

Zelda games are arguably much more complex in design than majority of mainstream titles. I don't know too many little kids who have ever beaten a Zelda game without a guide. Metroid isn't exactly the kiddiest of series either. Mario games are of course, suitable for kids, but that doesn't make them bad. On the contrary, Mario games have some of the best level design in platformers, and some seriously legit challenge if you try to 100% them. These aren't the only series worth playing on Wii, either, not by a long shot.

the reason? because their franchises simply don't evolve, Zelda has been the same s*** since 1998. the ONLY reason people still play their games is because of the stupid nostalgia factor that comes into play. they get this tingly feeling inside whenever anyone mentions anything Nintendo it's ridiculous.

OP is so wrong it's not even funny.

Skyward Sword is one of the very best games this gen, in some ways such as the controls and how well they are implemented and integrated into the entire experience it even evolves gaming in ways the other consoles haven't even managed, and he's obviously not played much if any of it otherwise he would actually know this.

Nintendo is not perfect right now, and there's actually a few things I miss from them as a company that they totally delivered on in the glory day of the NES/SNES and arguably in some ways on the N64, but they are still a totally brilliant company for the most part and in many ways they are still pushing the industry forward in ways that most other companies can't even touch.

Along with that both their hardward and software continue to be hugely successful and profitable for them so to even thing they are going anywhere negative, in the next 10 years even, is a joke and a result of pure ignorance.

What you mad bro? Wii and Nintendo 3DS are very popular and let me tell you why:

First of all, that Kinect and Playstation Move things are all a ripoff of what Wii did first with their console. Wii doesn't focus on graphics.. it focus on giving people fun. I am in college and pretty much 80% of my female friends have a Wii or a Nintendo 3DS and they love it (they're not the hardcore game type, they're the girl type that likes to throw parties and have a console there to entertain people, so a Wii does the job). In nintendo 3DS they play only Nintendogs.. why? I'm not sure, maybe because its a game different then anything else and that is what Nintendo tries to do.. innovate. Same goes with the Wii, last week I went to the mall with my girlfriend because she wanted to buy a Wii game for a party she was throwing at night, we bought a boxing game and at the party we all were having a good time playing the Wii. Now another example, when I'm invited to my male friend's houses the only thing we do is close ourselves up in the living room playing Call of Duty or FIFA the entire night and that ain't fun as playing the Nintendo consoles. As a PC gamer myself, I'm not going to say I would trade the Wii for my PC, but to play with my friends I would prefer hands down a Wii then a PC.
