Hello,

Nintendo has long maintained that its games are for players of all
ages.  Younger and older fans alike are drawn to familiar characters and
franchises like Mario, Link, and Pokemon.  More importantly, however,
they like the engaging, innovative gameplay.   Nowhere has this been more
apparent than with the Nintendo DS.

Take a look at the variety of experiences you can have playing a
Nintendo DS:  in Nintendogs, you train and care for a shockingly lifelike
virtual puppy; in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, you're a crime-solving
lawyer; in Trauma Center: Under The Knife, you perform emergency surgery
and save lives.  This is in addition to blockbuster games like Mario
Kart DS, the perennial favorite reborn as an online phenomenon and Metroid
Prime Hunters, which introduces flawless first-person action to
handheld systems.

Games like Electroplankton blur the line between game and art, where
you are given the tools to create a wholly unique aural and visual
experience each time you play.  The recently released Brain Age: Train Your
Brain In Minutes a Day helps players of all ages flex their mental
muscles by challenging themselves daily with entertaining math and
comprehension exercises.

At Nintendo, we are looking to please those who currently love video
games and who expect all the action and complexity of current genres.
However, we are also looking to introduce--or re-introduce--the rest of
the population to video gaming with new genres, methods of interaction,
and content that moves beyond standard T- and M-rated material.  It's
not just for the young or for the not-so-young--it's for everyone.

Its still for kiddies. There is a difference in talking about more M rated games and actually making them.

Only kids care what rating a game has. So NSMB = good game, GTA:V/LCS is for kids trying to act  cool like their older brothers.

As a side note, I doubt there is even enough power to display such effects convincingly. Unless of coarse you want an explosion of small red squares...

Why would I want to play mature games on the DS anyways?

If I want mature, I want ambiance and graphics and sound and a bigger screen.
Not a "portable" experience.

Contrary to popular belief, adults can actually enjoy E-rated games. E stands for everyone - grow up.

So GTA is for kids? WOW, so people believing E rated games are kiddy are posers, but your comment isn't a stereotype of someone trying to act like an all around gamer?

Why would you like M rated games on a portable? I'd rather get E games that target broader audiences and -most importantly- are fun.

Why wouldnt I? Ya the E games are great and I enjoy some games that are rated that. But having a limited selection of M rated games is absurd. People enjoy games with bad language, blood, gore, nudity, violence ect ect. I'm not saying all the games that have this content is good but alot are.

Alot of people buy M rated games hell even some people only buy M rated titles. If the DS really appeals to everyone then they should support M rated titles and bring more to the system. But that is my opinion and I will continue to buy DS games regardless of the ESRB rating. But I still think more M rated titles should come to the DS.

Last time I check "kid-games" were EC and such. E = Everyone [Meaning you, me, the young ones and the old ones.]

Nintendo is unlikely to put the older rated games on the DS due to the family friendly image. Remember back in the day when the original Mortal Kombat didn't have blood and had to be modified on certain fatalities? Nintendo would rather choose to keep its already established userbase without alienating them. Does that mean that the DS sucks because of this limitation? Of course not! However, I do find that last part in the letter rather intentionally vague. I think because of the changes in gaming they'd prefer not to answer this question and leave it open for the potential T or M rated titles. The rest of letter reads like a big advertisement.

Its bad enough when a cow/lem makes a dumb post like this.  But its even worse when some sheep comes back with this argument.

I beg to differ..."Ninty is kiddy" is the dumbest argument i've heard..Not only that but its plainly immature...Why are people so worried about the ratings of games...Why does it bother you if a game is rated M or Teen..Is it  a curse to play a game rated E or T..Fifa is rated E, whats so bad about the rating E..A game like GTA is rated M becuase it uses blood, violence, drugs e.t.c If you feel you are "mature" when you play games rated M i can only but laugh at you...I still dont get why people are so hung up on this "Ninty is kiddy, Sony is teh cool thing"...I honestly dont get it,thats the thing i'll never understand here on SW...You have no idea how it baffles me on how serious people take that "nint is kiddy" thing...i wonder if its a crime to play a game rated E..

The thing about it is...85-90% of the people that play GTA are kids...16yrs and younger..

Lets me ask you some questions..

1.How old are you??

2.If you are below 18 do you feel secure playing "mature" titles?

3.If you are above 18 what does it matter to you??

If you're mature why bother to post on a gaming site about what games are mature and which arent..I'm 19 and i play Nintendo games, i pay rent and all sorts of bills and i'm in college... i dont see how someone already mature would bother to say "oh look i play GTA you play pokemon, i'm so cool"....If you're already  mature you're a geek to come here doing that...Wouldnt you rather do some "mature" stuff and go binge-drinking than brag about video games you play..My point isnt directly aimed only at you, its to fanboys in general..My point is, if all these fanboys are mature, why do they have to post about playing "mature" games and other people playing kiddy games??The fact is if you do that you are either a) a kid who is insecure and thinks "mature" games will make him cool b) Some 19(or older) old geek/nerd....

Last question..

4.What is your definition of Kiddy??
