There is an alarming difference between the revenue from ps3 and 360, but the figures need a little explaining. Im not trying to defend the ps3 - its in very serious trouble.
Having said that, sales on ps3 are not as bad as the report makes out. On average, 360 outsells its ps3 counterpart by a ratio of 3/4:1 (Madden 1.2m approx vs 400,000 approx for example). For most games, the ATTACH rate is only slightly better on the 360. No single title has even approached outselling ps3 by 12:1. The largest is probably 6:1 or 5:1. Even skate, which was touted as an example of outselling ps3 version 6 to 1 in september was misleading. Skate had three weeks of sales included for 360, but only the one for ps3.
Where has all that extra revenue come from? I have no idea how the difference is so large, but every multiplat selling three or four times better on the 360 would make up a significant amount of that difference. Other reasons? Medal of honor hasnt been released on ps3 yet and there are possibly others aswell and in addition games like skate and possibly others have ben on sale for less time than 360 counterpart,. There are also more exclusive first year 360 titles never released on ps3. Unfotunately games also cost more to develop on ps3, although im not sure if this is included in the report (this would certainly explain why Wii generated more revenue even though most multiplats sell better on the ps3).
So next time you see a thread asking why ps3 owners are not buyin games, remember attach rates are only slightly better on the 360 (for multiplats anyway)
