please.... if Relic gets their hands back onto the Homeworld IP, Homeworld 3 would kick CoH in the balls so hard CoH would start crying... And lucky for us, THQ bought the Homeworld IP not too long ago... If they give it to anyone but Relic, we WILL see a riot.
Also, Starcraft 2 will probably be better.
IMO Blizzard and Relic are the royalty of RTS developers. Blizzard is just developer royalty however... Everything they touch is pure gold.

Same. Did you get the 8800 GT alpha dog edition from XFX? I haven't gotten around to installing it yet but I liked the demo. I just hope its not to hard to get into.
Yep. I got the alpha dog xxx edition which is an overclocked version.

Platformers, 3D fighters, JRPGs, arcade racers, action adventures - better on console
Were games like CoH, WiC or STALKER even considered for GOTY?michael098
CoH was for '06 (judging from the demo, it should definitely have beaten GeOW), WiC is a nominee for this year and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is underrated.

1) Yes it is, its listed on various places as RTS, here at Gamespot and I check out Wikipedia to see what they listed it and "Genre: Real-time strategy" was what came up. You should read up on what is a real time strategy.
2) Thats a cheap response, gamecube has lower standards. First off, if option 1 didn't go through, you can try to mock it by calling it lower standards. PIkmin was great and it deserved it score, so yes consoles can get great RTSs.
Pikmin had a charm I hardly can find in any game anymore..
Why do hermits act as if playing online on the PC is some kind of magical lag free experience? Are they all 8 year grad students playing on a T3 or something?
World in Conflict is supposedly out for the 360 in February according to game stores so we shall see how it handles this highly regarded game.
JiveT
Uhh..it usually is, considering you can pick servers that are located close to you, unlike console games. I usually play on servers where my ping is 20-50.
WiC is coming out in Febuary? Since when? Game stores don't really know anything, it's just a guess. We haven't heard anything on it lately. For all we know it could be cancelled. I don't see what this has to do with online anyways.....

Nobody has even mentioned lag yet.
All that's been said is that paying for an online service doesn't make it better.
At least you don't have to upgrade a console
Console games are nearly twice the price here in the UK, 360 peripirals are ALL rip offs including the controllers, the monthly/yearly fee does nothing a free service couldnt.
Ontop of that, you have no technological progress for 5-6 years.
Oh well.
Why do you mock Pikmin?ArisShadows
To be quite honest, the amount of activity and the type of objectives found in Pikmin doesn't really compare to a true PC RTS. Pikmin is great for what it is but to compare it to the likes of CoH, Starcraft, DoW, Homeworld, AoE or any of the other top RTS franchises is quite off. Pikmin is more of a hybrid of RTS and puzzle than pure RTS.

A true RTS? Real Time Strategy, how does that not fall under Pikmin. You micromanage various types of pikmin in a realtime situation. If you don't pay close attention, you won't do good and your pikmin will die.Just because it doesn't follow the normal tradition of the general RTS scheme, doesn't not make it less of RTS, just different. I think its up there with those PC RTSs you named, don't badger it because its not "true PC RTS".

Wow....use some LOGIC, what do you think we were talking about when CoH was the main topic? We were talking about traditional RTSs. Common logic.

Gamecube does have lower standards them PC. And any RTS on a console isn't as good as on PC. And Pikmin isn't a real RTS, which is what we're talking about, use some logic.
What I was reading was RTS, nothing said anything about "tradional RTSs" only. If that was the case, I probably agree.

By your definition I guess the Lemmings series fit under the RTS label as well.
I'm not badgering Pikmin at all but I will state here and now that it's not a pure RTS game. RTS games revolves around the building of armies to compete with an opposing army, simple. What Pikmin focuses on is a combination of elements found in a RTS game with the puzzle genre, utilizing what is given to you to tackle a complex sequence of trails. There is no army v army element in Pikmin at all.
I just so happen to be a fan of the Pikmin series but it doesn't scream RTS no matter how much you may push that view point. I respect it for what it is, which is a hybrid puzzle game.
What I was reading was RTS, nothing said anything about "tradional RTSs" only. If that was the case, I probably agree.

Why does the GameCube have lower standards? Cause it came in Purple? Or is it because of the visual nature of most of Nintendo's GameCube titles? Maybe because you said so?

Because it was like, the second RTS on the system.
That and much less is expected from a GameCube game than a PC game (ie, visuals, online components, length).

How can a 40K RTS builtoff of a modified version of the COH engine not be better CoH?
Quite easily. The awesomeness of coh is how infantry do jack all vs tanks, machine guns pin infantry, but infantry have counters to tanks, without the proper measures one tank can rape loads of infantry. Meanwhile in dow infantry can take down tanks with (providing its not a baneblade or land raider) relative ease. I don't think Relic will change any of this otherwise they'll be told they're making a reskinned CoH. Don't get me wrong Dawn of War is great fun, but Company of Heroes is just fantastic and requires alot more tactics.
Why does the GameCube have lower standards? Cause it came in Purple? Or is it because of the visual nature of most of Nintendo's GameCube titles? Maybe because you said so?

Or maybe it's because the RTS genre is practically nonexistent on the Gamecube? Just a thought...

So if all the RTS's on the PC's except for Company of Heroes never existed then Company of Heroes is not good anymore because there would be so few PC RTS's and thus very low standards according to you? That's some retarded logic right there. I mean Pikmin 2 is not only the best RTS on the Gamecube but it's the best RTS on any console ever. And if you count all the RTS's on every console now we're talking about quite a few. By the way I just got Company of Heroes a couple of days ago and I am loving it so it's not like I'm biased against the game, it's just that I am not going to be illogical in praising it.Please Log In to post.
