"May 23, 2007 - Did that updated Final Fantasy XIII trailer (you know, the one you weren't able to see because filming was not allowed) from the Square Enix Party get you even more excited about Japan's most anticipated PS3 title? Well don't start saving your cash just yet, as there's going to be quite the wait before you actually get to play it.
Fielding questions at a Square Enix financial briefing in Tokyo today, president Yoichi Wada said this about Final Fantasy XIII: "It will still take a bit more time. At the very least, [a release] this fiscal year is definitely out of the question."
Japanese is known for being a pretty vague language, but Wada's words were pretty clear. No FFXIII in Japan until some time after May 2008.
Let's hope Square Enix starts the translation before development finishes up."

And you know what that means, no FF13 in North America until at least 6-9 months later, and not in Europe until 12-15 months later. So if you bought the PS3 early to play this game, you owned yourself, cause you probably could have waited 2 years and gotten a cheaper PS3/ 360 to play FF13 a year or 2 from now. :)

It is certainly a huge blow to European gamers that want FF13, it might as well take until PS4 to be out there, definatly deep in 2009, which is just unacceptable, who would buy a PS3 there now ? This game was thought to be out in 2007 in US, and 2008 in Europe, now all hope is lost for them
Uh. Greg. Europe always gets the shaft with release dates of games. They're used to it. Don't try to spin it off as a bad thing. Besides EU would rather have their WE9. ;)
What is it then, a good thing ???? That one of the most wanted PS3 games will be out in Europe in ... 2009 !!!
Again, PS3 is region free. There is no wait if one is willing to pay for importing costs.
Is that 100% confirmed ? So, can we import in US the japanese version ?
Yessir. For the PS3, it's only the games that are region free. Not movies. But let's not forget, with the size of Blu Ray, we could see games go multitrack with voice overs. Eternal Sontata is said to do that. Games should have that feature all around. Have you heard Gears of War in japanese? It really puts more of an edge to the game. IMO ;) I wouldn't be surprized to see FFXIII share that smiliar trail. Along with many other games.
