No Final Fantasy games for 360

Looking for more Final Fantasy following the Xbox 360 port of Final Fantasy XI? Then you're going to have to look to a different next generation system. A Square Enix executive has disclosed to Japan's Nikkei BP that the company currently has no plans for Final Fantasy games on the 360.

Noting that the PS3 is getting Final Fantasy XIII, the website asked Square Enix's Shinji Hashimoto if the Wii or Xbox 360 will also be getting games in the series. "For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production," replied Hashimoto. "As for FF on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."

oh well we've got loads of rpgs coming: mass effect, bioshock, lost oddyssey, two worlds, enternal sonata, the last remnant, blue dragon...

last remnant is made by square enix and lost oddyssey is made by its publisher or sumthing

Speaking with Japan's monthly Dorimaga gaming publication, character designer Tetsuya Nomura said, "It appears that there are often overseas rumors like 'Are you currently developing a VII remake?' My apologies, but we're absolutely not making [such a game]."

Anyway i was always planning on buying a PS3 or FFXIII and FFvsXIII, so nothings changed for me.

YEah. You know how much I believe that? Not at all. If we took press releases and interviews as our only source of new info then we'd never discover anything at all. I venture to say that not only will FF XIII xome out on 360 (currently blank page doesn't make that unreasonable just means nothing has been announced yet which is obvious). But FF VII will be remade for the PS3. And if it is, that'll push me over the edge and make me buy one I think as long as they change more than just the graphics. Ya know like localization problems (the dialouge in that game was more than just a little off) and the world map and little things like that. Bring it up to date a bit.

Actually, there technically is a FF game on the 360

Final Fantasy 11, although people seem to forget about it cause it sucked :P

It could mean that there will never be a Final Fantasy game on the 360 or could mean they have yet to announce it. I'm just having fun with the man's word, don't mind me!

Capcom is not square, capcom took resident evil 4 and made it exclusive to the GC.  Dont assume that Capcoms opinions and buisness moves reflect other gaming companies, they dont.

Personally I don't want FF or DQ ever come to the 360.

Ultima and AD&D were my top favorites and I stopped following the FF series since FFIV on the SNES. Not that I don't like JRPG's, I totally enjoyed T&E's Hylide, Artdink's Lunatic Dawn, most of Falcom's franchises and a variety of JRPG's on the PC-Engine. I just found the later FF's gameplay too linear, the plots too cliche and the characters too pretentious.

Without FF, other RPG developers wouldn't have to suffer from its hype so they have a much better chance marketing and selling their games. Gaming sites and magazines would devote more time and resource to review the alternatives, and gamers would pay more attention to creative new IP's which they often overlooked when the "must-get" franchises overshadowed everything.

It's actually a 3-way win situation which would do the RPG community a big favor.

Square took a game Final Fantasy which was originally on Nintendo and made it a Playstation 1 and 2 exclusive. They however made a Final Fantasy game for the 360 called Final Fantasy XI Online. And yes Square isnt Capcom but when a company sees how well 360 games sell compared to how well ps3 games sell they would want to make Final Fantasy Multiplatform. Companys want to make money they dont care which console wins they just want to make as much money as they can. 

I wish they would have released SOMETHING on the 360. But there are a lot of other good JRPG's in the pipeline, so there is still plenty to be excited about. Even if FF isn't one of them.musicalmac

Decline? Didn´t the last one get AAA? FF is probably the fanchise where it´s closest to guaranteed AAA.

FF going from Nintendo to the PS1 was because of Nintendos need to censor their games and their limited format.  The PS3 is not in that situation.  As for FFXI going to the 360, its an MMO going to a gaming console that lives off of PC type games and ports.  That is hardly a reason to start jumping to crazy conclusions.  Yes 360 games sell well, but the key thing to look at is what games are selling well.  Its not JRPGs, its shooters, sports and racing games.  Exclusivity is done for the benefit of a company.  Square likes to work and produce solid games off of one consoles hardware.  Porting leads to sloppy games and getting a bad rep. like Ubisoft and EA.  This could actually hurt you finacially if your ports start doing worse and your fanbase could diminish.  They seem to want to make games that they know MS fans would prefer to buy then offer JRPGs which were never part of MS fans diet and lose money on production.

By decline, hes means sales.  Im pretty sure FFXII sold the least in the series since IV in japan.

Really no big deal. 360 still has plenty of JRPGs Blue Dragon, Cry On, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, last Remnant and if those sell then others will come. That is about same amount as PS3 . Plus 360 has a ton of WRPGs also and PS3 is kinda barren in that field.Eltroz

I wouldnt make the assumption of others coming.  Lets see how well these JRPGs sell in NA and Europe with MS fans before we jump to the assumption that JRPG companies are gonna provide for the 360 with a very tiny Japanese audience.  Excluding a region that buys many of these smaller JRPGs could be detrimental.  NA tend to buy only the big title RPGs in decent numbers, the smaller ones get ignored while in Japan they flourish.

And as for the ton of WRPGs, lets wait and see what gets announced for the PS3 seeing as its still only 7 months old and not all devs announce games a year before the release.  Lets also see how well these new IP WRPGs do before we start bragging as well.  There are no guarantees.

Everytime i hear of Mass Effect and Bioshock i always think of FPS..Are they really a RPG game? Enternal Sonata i get the Dawn of Mana vibe when i watch the trailer..And Sonata  perhaps will make to the PS3 too..but it be a rent for me..Also why is Blue Dragon is takin so long to come out here in the U.S?  It seem like Microsoft only have JRPGs game just specifically for Japan..And i wonder why? oh yeah their system flopped big time there..Last Remant on the PS3 too..Dont know much about it right now.. i sure hope it will be great..

FF is the ONLY JRPG series in where $$$ is spent in the development.

 I doubt it, FF games are more or less NEW games. This isn't Zelda or MGS we are talking about. FF games only share the same name.

Who cares anyway? I even didn't buy FF 12 for my PS2.
