Sorry Elder Scrolls haters but it's true....you haters can say it's boring, or too long or mach the combat system or whatever else you guy's usually complain about.

However you can't deny for the expensive price of $65.00 a game after tax, that the Elder Scrolls game's give you the most for your buck.

I mean c'mon what other game can you play for months and never do the same thing twice, or have your choice of over 300 locations to explore, or your choice of hundereds of quests, not to mention the character choices, the attention to detail, the natural change of weather from one area to the next, while day sets into night.

You can make your own health and magic potions and hunt your own food, and own a home in every major city, while obtaining lethal weapons, and magic spells to use on vicious creatures, animals and thieves of all walks of life.

You can speak with hundreds of different people, and join multiple guilds, do battle in arena's to earn gold, armor and weapons.....all these features and more allow you to spend months and years getting lost in the massive world of Elder Scrolls, and no other game has that kind of variety, detail or longevity.

It's simply the best series ever made....I.M.O.

But the game isn't fun. What's the point a ton of replayability if none of it's fun?

Allow me to reply to all of you thus far FIFA games don't compare to an action RPG, if you don't think it's fun then you don't know what your doing, and JRPG's should not even exist because there so terrible I.M.O.

I expect it to be broken at launch just like every other Bethesda joint this gen. Besides melee combat looks as lackluster as ever.

you have your opinion, other people have theres. I don't think you can state something like " if you don't think it's fun then you don't know what your doing" because your assuming your opinion is the only right answer.

The Elder Scrolls games have the best bang per money unit. No other RPG even comes close to the depth and detail of TES.

Haha that is true. Oblivion's frustrating combat system is easily remedied with a mod or two. And then there's Nehrim, an entire new campaign.

UC and Batman. Batman AC and AA offers at best 15-20 hours of conten. UC1 was 6-7 hours long with 0 replayablity outside of treasures. Uc2 added a slightly longer sp campaign with co-op and mp thrown in the mix. Both additions were average in execution though.

It doesn't matter the amount of content if the gameplay is not good. Gameplay is much more important and if it isn't good then going through the amount of content is going to be a drag and uninteresting.

Is it so hard for you to wrap around your mind the fact that people have different tastes? For me, Elder Scrolls isn't even worth $10, let alone $65. (Where does that 65 come from, though? Console games are now 65 and not 60? Well, PC wins, anyway. :P) My reason is that I prefer a scripted RPG to an "explore-it-and-make-your-own-story"-ish RPG. I, and many others like me (though we might not be a majority) prefer RPGs with a solid main storyline, which Elder Scrolls is horrible at.

I bought Oblivion when it came out because it looked interesting and everybody was praising it. I played it for a couple of hours and got so bored I don't even remember what happened with it. I don't know if I sold it or if I simply lost it but the thing is that I don't know where the hell is it and I don't care. That's what I call a total waste of 60 bucks plus tax...

Europa Universalis 3, Victoria 2. I have 300hrs in EU3, 250hrs in V2. As much as I'm looking forward to SKyrim, to say no game gives you the money's worth like TES is utterly false. And btw, EU3 Chronicles is only $30, and Vicky 3 is only $30, while Skyrim is $60.

While I have enjoyed all of the ES games and will likely love Skyrim too, I gotta say I have spent much more time with games like Diablo 2 and Battlefield 2/2142/BC2 due to the multiplayer. I really... really enjoy SP games much more so than MP, but when it comes to getting your money's worth, I gotta hand it to great MP games. Mods do help a lot though.

EDIT: Oh, and I agree with you on the JRPGs statement. Not a fan and haven't been since the SNES.

Fallout is up there as well. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are easily 40 hours on FIRST playthrough. Not to mention there are multiple endings, and so many different ways you can replay the game.

Although, once I made it to the ending credits of New Vegas, I never touched the game again. Feels good knowing I can go back any time on a bored day, and easily have like 40 more hours of gameplay waiting for me. And I havent even got the DLC.

WRPG's and Open World are my 2 favorite genres.

I played Diablo II for THOUSANDS of hours. I played Starcraft for thousands of hours. Three hundred hours is trivial compared to some of the pc games of the past and present.

Edit: Also, a lot of things you have described have been available in MMOs for years.

Also, I don't think hours is what every one values as "money's worth". I think it's mostly about the experience. The experience can be anywhere from 5-100 hours if it needs to be. I don't get games like Uncharted OR Skyrim thinking "oh, well I'll be playing this game for a few months". I get them because they capture my imagination and give me experiences that I would not get anywhere else in life. That's what gaming and more essentially, your "money's worth" should be. The experience. :)

Which ones would those be? I can only think of two of these being even remotely similar to one another: Batman Arkham City and Zelda.

In any case, Arkham City just came out and is absolutely massive. I shall probably invest over 100 hours of pure gameplay into this thing and still not be done with it. I just love love LOVE those challenge maps! The combat and stealth are some of the best out there and I cannot wait to sink hours into solving and finding all of riddler's 440 challenges! This thing's a freaken beast! I'm pretty darn sure I'm playing my game of the generation right now! Arkham City seriously has everything I could want in a game

Actually in Oblivion i felt like i was doing the same thing over and over after the first few hours, all dungeons looked flat and same, all Obliviom towers, most cities looked about same, quest started feeling the same soon, NPCs looked cartooney, monsters spawned randomly and there were no real bosses of landscape design at all, combat and leveling up felt generic and repeatitve and was far from fun

It does pack lots of content alright, but i feel Dark Souls has more unique content and level design than all of Elder Scrolls games combined including Skyrim

Maybe the people that like it enjoy it so much that they don't have time to post comments here since they are playing it all the time :P

Their gamespot accounts have not been active since the release of the previous installment in the franchise.

Err, no. Dark Souls came out very recently, and the dislike for Oblivion (personal preference, mind you) has been existing for much longer.
