Why. Because not everyone is goingto love a single game. So I'm wondering why do every blockbuster obtain these scores. Halo 3, MGS4, Uncharted 2 among thieves, super mario galaxy, etc. The hype, the amount of fanboyism that goes into these games astounding. Unlike the movie genre, reviewers can be as subjective as possible. Why didn't I enjoy this movie, what I enjoyed about this movie. However, you never see these statements in blockbuster games. I found some of the sections to be dull and boring. I found the last section to be too hard and thus making it frusterating. Instead, they attempt to be as objective as possible. This game is technically the best game. Instead of this game is technically the best game made unfortunately I felt the artstyle was generic and didn't immerse the player. Blockbuster games never have negative aspects about stuff they didn't enjoy. It ultimately just feels like a bullet point features of all the aspects of the game which is disappointing.

Ultimately, I find that score usually are similar with the amount of production values instead of the enjoyment. GTA 4 had immense production values and as result scored high. Uncharted 2 had immense production values and scored high. Halo 3 had immense production values. However, I enjoyed infamous more than halo 3 or gta 4. Why can't I score that game higher than those games if I enjoyed the game more.

Forget games, no reviewed items should have straight 9's...

Then again, it's bound to happen that people agree...

So essentially you want to take scores given to games you don't like and give them to games you do like?:?

A score is a spark note to a review some people are too lazy to read.

Pretty much. I want games to be more subjective. And then I wouldn't have to buy games like GTA 4, Halo 3, or killzone 2. I would rely on someone who has an opinion similar to me. Instead of having to either rent it or buy it to know whether it is good or not. And if I have a negative opinion on these games (I hated killzone 2 sp, and halo 3 sp yet not one site mentioned how boring some of those stages are), I shouldn't be considered bias or a fanboy. Reviews are moving more toward how much work went into the game and less about how great the game is. I would rather have reviews be subjective.

But that sort of defeats what you said about games not ever getting straight 9s. And do you really think some journalist is going to fully emulate how you are going to feel about a game you haven't played yet?

I don't know if I got it wrong, but basically you are saying that if in SW we decide that AAA is now 7 AA is 6 and so on, then no game should ever have straight 7s?

well, GS used to be a harsh reviewer, where a 6.5 was like today's 7.5's, and a 8.2 was like today's 9, and anything after could have easily scored a 9.5

So "No game should ever get a straight 10" is been around for a while... now it's down to "No game should ever get straight 9s". Next, "No game should ever get straight 8s".

Better ditch the scoring systems ASAP

Since a review is just a single opinion... I don't see why anyone needs to "agree" with it.

game reviews aren't opinions. Which is my main problem. Unless the games everyone love is modern warfare 2, and uncharted 2. And goty can't go to a game like 30 second hero, or little king story. Or best graphics can never go to somethign like a boy and his blob. Nothing about games are subjective. And only some games deserve these awards. I wish game reviews would follow a similar route to movies.

Thats true, one major site has to have a reviewer who is bound to hate a title, and give it a bad score, not everyone loves and plays every genre the same, but big blockbusters always score high, its obvious things go on behind the scenes.

Every single one of those "awards" is given by an individual or group of individuals with opinions. They don't care if you agree with them or not. You are entitled to think whatever you want.

No I want it modeled on an opinion. I never said what games should score high or not. I want to rely on looking at reviews based on opinions. Not MINE. I NEVER SAID MINE. I will put it this way. Last year 1/3 of the game sties gave the game of the year to fallout 3, 1/3 gave it to mgs4, and 1/3 gave it to lbp. There were only 2, 2 sites that had different game of the years. G4tv gave game of the year to fable 2 (which I personally didn't like) and destructoid gave it to left 4 dead. I don't care but honestly I doubt people didn't enjoy world of goo just as much as they did lbp. Or braid just as much as fallout 3. However, those games were deemed not game of the year material. Handheld games are not deemed game of the year material. I despise this with a passion and that is how it works.

So this is all about handheld games now? And different GOTYs are simply the result of opinions whether you agree with them or not..

how do u want games review to not be an opinion, if you enjoy a game it's already an opinion
