So why exactly is Shadow of the Colosus loved by a few on here? I played the demo on jam pack years agoand could never get into it. It wassoooo boring.:(
[QUOTE="Wasdie"]It reallly was an epic game. Not only that, it was one of the most beautiful and artistic game I have ever, and will ever, play.bufu21artistic game would be Valkyria Chronicles. Artistic game =/= cel-shaded game.
Why did you find it boring? Abscence of music? No enemies besides the bosses? the artstyle? C'mon, elaborate. So why exactly is Shadow of the Colosus loved by a few on here? I played the demo on jam pack years agoand could never get into it. It wassoooo boring.:(

VC is a good looking game with a unique art style, if that is what is meant by 'artistic game'. I don't think you have played it if you think otherwise simply because of the technique used.
As for SotC, if anyone finds it boring, stop gaming... now .

I have played VC and it is very good, but to me, an artistic game is more than just the artstyle. I know VC has very good moments, but I can't put them at the same level of SOTC. :)[QUOTE="bufu21"][QUOTE="Wasdie"] artistic game would be Valkyria Chronicles.colosionArtistic game =/= cel-shaded game.

EDIT: This is coming from a fan of Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry 3 and Metal Gear Solid 3, etc just to give you a sense of where I'm comming from.

I put them at more or less the same level, I liked both around the same. Though in terms of artistic value SotC takes the edge by a long shot.

The open game world is not really all that essential for the gameplay, it's really there to look pretty and is used as a technique to create a sort of lonely atmosphere. The actual core of the game is the collosus battles, which are immense fun, very original and just plain epic really. The density of the game world is irrelevant when you are fighting a giant animated statue with nothing but a horse, a bow and a sword. The variety is great as well.
I'm disappointed in you. You got rid of your PS2 and got a Xbox 360... :( No,I saved money to buy a 360.I just sold my ps2 because I stopped using it.Needless to say,I regret that decision still.[QUOTE="Lto_thaG"]I'm sure I am,but I don't own a ps2 anymore.metalgear-solid
Yes that game was pretty epic. Unfortunetly not everyone appreciated it the same way others did, I personally have some friends who found the game stupid and meaningless. Truth is some people have less of a sense of appreciation of interactive arts than others. And then there's also the fanboys goggles to be put on top of that.

Not quite. I've probably seen more movies than 90 percent of this site. One of my favorite movies is in fact "The Last Man on Earth" and it has no action and two different environments. ICO and SoTC were dreadfully boring and lacked any substance.

I'd say that their substance lies in their simplicity.
But I suppose that even the most absolutely amazing games aren't universally liked. Even though those two are probably as close as any game will ever get.
..Shadow Of The Colossus, honestly, that game was so amazing, now all people seem to brag about is FPS or games with AMAZING GRAPHICS! It gets even worse by people comparing sales and the usual boring threads like HALO VS KILLZONE or 360 VS PS3 in EXCLUSIVES!, you all need to play SOTC and understand that games arent all about GRAPHICS or SALES.
Am i the only one who fails to see what was so special about SoTC? Sure it was good, but it's not really epic..^True.
I figured when Team ICO's new game comes out, even if it honestly does have the best consol graphics, most people won't want to admit it and will still say a certain FPS (Take your pick) looks better.

[QUOTE="tOtalPWNaAe"]so what was that game exactly???GTR_FXyour kidding right?I am guessing he isn't joking considering when I clicked on this thread, i was also wondering what this game is.
nope
sotc is a decent game, the onyl reason it is a decent game and not a bad game( i have it gott bored after about 1/2 way in) is that its unique in its presentation, although the horse was hard as hell to controll, it was cool to run around nice enviroments trackign down collosi, so its like instead of killing hord after hord of enemies then a boss battle, you just go straight to a boss battle once you hunt it down.
but epic hell no. just a unique experiance
firstly: thank you for correcting my mistake, secondly: on a scale of epicness OOT takes the cake, thirdly: no i havent played SOTC however i highly doubt it matches the caliber of OOT considered by many to be the greatest game of all time (myself included)
