No Game with 4 next to its name deserves a 10

The gaming industry are a bunch of sheep, as soon as one publication gives a great score the rest fall in line afraid of ridicule. And no game with a 4 next to its name deserves a 10, how much of that game could possibly be original? The majority of it is repacked and rehashed but prettier. Also how does a game get a perfect score if it is not bug and error free? And you might say "well no game is bug free" exactly so why do they get 10's? ... Lastly most publications list visuals as a basis for scoring a game and if Say crysis, or GT 5 is the standard set within the industry this game in question deserves about a 7 in that category. SHEEP i tell you they're All SHEEP!!!!

I have no doubt its a great game, I shall get it.

But have to agree, its the same gameplay with a graphical enhancement. Not sure it should get a 10.

10 isn't a perfect score. Do you really expect every game to be original in order to be rated highly? Those are pretty high expectations. Also, I think they rate graphics and things like that based on the system and genre of the game. Not 100% on that though. And there is more to graphics than just how good it looks. Like draw distance is a big one, which I hear gta is really good in.

a score of 10 does not mean the game is fresh and original, it means it's fun to play, of high production value, and has VERY few, (so few that it's negligable during gameplay, but worth noting in a review) flaws.

Perhaps GTAIV fits. I haven't played it. Yet.

Only games which deserve a 10 are the ground breaking games as of the likes of - Golden Eye, Zelda, FFVII, GTA, RE, Mario Galaxy, Super Mario World. All of them in comparison had orignality unlike GTA4.

Thats the orignal GTA game which was out on the PS1 and PC!

Alot of sites gave lair a 9/10. That game got far from a 9. Also Assassins creed was given a 9.0 here and 7.9 on IGN. Some sites may tend to follow other sites (like IGN and teamxbox) But if its a good game, its a good game. Just because its 4 doesn't mean it won't bring anything new, look at GTA. It brought websites in, regular use of phones, added multiplayer, revamped shooting and driving. Some games with a 4 in them may not bring anything new to the series, but GTA certainly does. Also GTA IV, was pardoned with its graphics due to its detail. Have you seen the tour at night? It looks absolutely stunning, the whole city lights up, theres 100 websites in the in-game Internet. There are numerous TV stations you can view at the apartment. I also don't think reviewers compare every-game to Crisis or GT5P.

3 things that gives games good reviews and good sales are

A 10 rating is soley based on the game's competition - not some fantasy universe where a game could be "perfect"..

if you say nothing changed then that is jsut ignorent. anyways i don't see why saying a game is rated 10 out of 10 gets such an uproar. why do so many people jsut look at the score without reading the whole review if you had your would have realised how much has changed in the series and how well its been done.

This is why I love a 5 star system. Nobody thinks 5 stars means perfect. But once you use a ten point scale theirs this burden that ten means perfect. 1UP an Giantbomb were smart to stay away from that stupid scoring system. It doesn't help anybody. Bread_or_Decide

In Gamespot history, there have been 4 other games that received a 10. Pro Skater 3 Chrono Cross Soul Calibur Ocarina of Time All except Soul Calibur were sequels. /threadchrth

I don't think they care what gamerankings does to their scores. Half stars aren't a bad idea. But it doesn't really matter in the long run. Reading the review tells you more than the 1/2 star anyway.

it's just kind of funny because they gave zelda tp a lower score for being to much like oot but give this game a 10 this gta may be the best game ever i dont know because i haven't played it yet but if you take points for one game you have to do it for alll of them
